I think how high they are on Burrowes demonstrates a) how they like to bet on young players with upside and b) a lack of belief in the middle tier of Sox prospects. At any rate, Kanny will be an interesting follow if some of those DSL guys make it there.
I wonder, based on Abreu’s comments last Spring, if he knew he was out the door all of last year and that he’s hurt feelings permeated the entire clubhouse. A leader’s feelings can be contagious be they positive or negative.
Wow. I know it's only 2 games, but this team really knows how to crush fan interest and optimism. They currently have the same number of runs that they have dropped pop ups. It's earl, but I stopped listening to this game in the second inning and it appears I missed nothing.
4 games in Houston and then the home opener. They’re not dumb enough to let Clevinger start the opener are they? Knowing the Sox, they’ll do that and then name a baby changing station after him.
I would start him in Houston and give the Home Opener to someone the fans want to see like Kopech, or Gio.
Personally, I think Gio refuses to use it as an excuse, but he just wasn’t the same after he got COVID. If he’s fully healthy, I’m expecting a good year.
I think Manfred will deaden the ball while making it easier to steal to bring back the “excitement” of the 70s. But I bet it won’t work cuz pitchers have much higher velocity and better pitch shapes than the 70s. I predict a lot of stranded runners and thrilling wild pitch offense.
Probably my favorite year to go to games ever. My job barely existed in the summertime. I went to 18 games, including Frank and Alex Fernandez’s debuts in a doubleheader in Mi,Waukesha, and the Sox went 18-0 in those games.
I can think of 10 million reasons why Leury's on the team. I wonder is this means Romy is the back up OF instead of Hamilton or Marisnick or Reyes or if he's headed to a very crowded Charlotte infield. It does mean that Sosa has, in the immortal words of Hawk, no chance.
Wow. This is going to suck just as bad as we all thought in ways I never dreamed of. Wasn’t there a lot of drama between him and his wife around the time he was traded to the Padres? So many red flags. Why jump in early at the top of the market for this guy?
Ideally both Romy and Sosa have great springs and they make it tough on everyone. Romy can play a bunch of positions, Sosa can play 2b/3b/ss. Having them both may be better than carrying Marisnick or Reyes or whoever.
Between the new bases, the emphasis on balks, and the pitch clock, Manfred really wants to prioritize stealing bases. I bet the ball is gonna be as dead as a 16-inch softball. Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Cleveland is deeper than everyone but the Dodgers probably. They are interesting in that they hold on to EVERYBODY until all hope vanishes and their value is close to nil and then dump them. Benson and Nolan Jones are good examples of guys they could have gotten something significant for but did not trade while their value was there. They never accidentally trade Tatis Jr. But they also never get one of those Stars for a bunch of warm bodies trades either. Unusual strategy.
