  1. Good point. I forgot that these games are supposed to matter.
  2. This is absolutely insane. I am a manager at my work. The first thing we always talk about when it comes to any press release is timing it so our staff are told by us before they find out on Twitter. That is just basic "Management for Dummies" stuff.
  3. Is it odd to make these moves literally the day before rosters expand?
  4. So what's your solution? Keep them all and have the worst OF defense known to man? Trade Sheets, the only lefty in their line up? Trade Eloy? Move Vaughn to 2b? Currently, the rules don't allow 5 DHs. I like Abreu, Vaughn, Eloy, and Sheets. They just don't make sense together on this roster.
  5. If the park is going to benefit lefties, they have to make room for Sheets, not as an outfielder. It also bodes well for Colas and possibly Mieses. They cannot go into next year with Abreu, Eloy, Vaughn, and Sheets on the team. Eloy is the guy I would keep. Either let Abreu walk, trade Vaughn or both.
  6. Currently on their way to an 0-4, trailing an aggregate 19-1. Good grief.
  7. Humidors in non-Colorado ballparks are stupid. Manfred gonna Manfred.
  8. I think every player at every level being represented by MLBPA will help preserve the number of jobs in the minors. They just contracted last year with an ugly negotiation with MiLB owners. Doubt they want to go through that again a year later. Once MLBPA gets involved, further contraction is going to be super tricky. I hope this goes through. Minor league players need a minimum standard of income/quality of life.
  9. I was aware they wasted a lot of money, but $85 million for 0 WAR? Sox never pay top dollar for FA but for the same dollars they could have had Harper, Machado, AND Wheeler. Giving big bucks to mid-level players and relievers is always stupid. Pay top dollar for impact players and then fill in with a deep farm system and smart waiver wire transactions. This number alone justifies getting rid of the entire front office.
  10. And their horrible bullpen gives up a 5 spot in the 9th. 0-6 here we come.
  11. Birmingham comes roaring back behind Colas and Mieses both going 2-3. They lead 5-3.
  12. Mena give up two singles but gets out of the 2nd. He's throwing tons of strikes. So far the Braves have a BABIP of .600, so we'll see how it goes.
  13. Grandal singled, Sosa walked, 2 stranded.
  14. 3 pitches, double, double, single for Ellis, Montgomery, and Colas. 2-0.
  15. Ketel Marte's numbers are really down.
  16. Mena strikes out the side in the first with one single.
  17. Barons' line up is the W-S line up from a month ago plus Cespedes and Skoug.
  18. Mena starting for the Barons.
  19. Yes, but LaRussa was super supportive of his buddy Stewart.
  20. That '90 team is probably my favorite Sox team of all time. Black Jack McDowell had his first dominant year. We saw the rookie year of Robin Ventura. I went to the doubleheader in Milwaukee in which both Big Frank and Alex Fernandez made their major league debuts. Super fun season. And who was the a-hole who disrespected that team publicly? TLR. Screw that guy.
  21. Fair enough. I wonder if Mieses heads to the Fall League. Currently, Sosa is on the 40 man and Ramos and Popeye are slam dunks to join. I would protect Mieses ahead of Yolbert, and there are a lot of FA’s and DFA candidates currently on the roster. With Mieses, I would be at 37 and that includes guys I could imagine losing like Banks, Sousa, and Bilous. The real question is how many reliever types like Schilling, Lane Ramsey, and Caleb Freeman do the Sox want to protect. Ramsey’s the only one having success currently, but all provide decent depth. It will be interesting.
