  1. I posted in another thread that Sox had a bad relationship with Hinch like 100 years ago. Did that ever get patched up?
  2. Aside from the cheating, there was bad blood between Hinch/his family and the Sox from when they drafted him as an amateur. Generally, JR holds a grudge. I'd be surprised if it was Hinch.
  3. Wow. His managing down the stretch and in the Oakland series was so objectively head-scratchingly bad, it was like a death wish. Think back to when they clinched and Hahn said all that stuff about how the Cubs treated Rickey. 100% believe he lost his job in a 3 week stretch.
  4. It will be interesting to see what payrolls look like next year. I saw an article about Cleveland and they will be slashing payroll. No more Santana, Lindor gone, Hand won't be resigned, they're looking to trade Carlos Carrasco... I now imagine the Sox non-tender everyone they can Rodon, Mazarra, maybe even decline the option on Leury and try to pick through the giant cutout bin that will be this offseason. I think we have no idea who will be available outright or in salary dumps this offseason. My question is "Will the Sox be aggressive? Or are they one of the teams looking to dump payroll?" Could be a huge opportunity for teams like Boston, who are getting an influx of Billy Beane cash, or the Mets, who figure to up their payroll now that they have actual ownership. I could also see the Phillies being big spenders, given their huge TV deal. Point is, I think it's too early to settle for Puig or Pederson. There may be some very solid players out there this winter.
  5. I am insane? Didn't Klentak "resign" because the owner was pissed they didn't make the playoffs? What evidence is there that the Phillies are rebuilding? They have a pretty good major league team and a bad farm system. That seems to mean they'll try to resign Realmutto and compete next year, right?
  6. The available lefty-hitting rightfielders leave a lot to be desired. I suppose you could take a crapshoot at Eaton, Joc Pederson, or Reddick, but they all have just as big of bust potential as Mazara. I like both Conforto and Nimmo, but I live in New York and I do not believe the Mets will be sellers. In fact, with their new billionaire owner, I would not be shocked if they made a play for Lindor. I could see the Sox keeping their powder dry considering we're talking about their #8 hitter, then maybe making a move at the deadline.
  7. 15 runners left in the last 11 innings 0-11 with RISP. That's scary.
  8. Game 3 has to be a bullpen day. Foster goes the first two and you take your chances. No one else looks close to ready.
  9. Wow. The last three starts inspire zero confidence. Rotation for next year is a real work in progress.
  10. I think that RF isn’t going to be a huge priority. Whoever they get is gonna hit 8th, replacing a guy with a wrc+ of 65. A healthy Leury is better than that. I am intrigued by the progress Getz said that Rutherford has made. He might be an option second half of the year. I would hate to give a multi year contract to Joc. He’s exactly the mid level free agent type that burns you. I think there‘s a chance they reup Mazara cuz it’s just one year. Don’t know. As many have said, not a lot of lefty hitting RF candidates out there.
  11. I get it, you think he throws too hard to be a starter. Agree to disagree. Would like to point out Chris Sale has over 45 career WAR. That's better than a few good seasons.
  12. Sox clinch better record than the Cubs, now let’s win the season series.
  13. No way they took him at 11 to put him in the pen. Crochet struggled as a reliever as a freshman. He didn’t pitch bad as a starter and great as a reliever ala Ian Hamilton. He also didn’t throw a 100 until Fall ball last year. I was worried about a potential relief profile when drafted, but I am not as worried about it now.
  14. I can’t wait to never watch Gio Gonzalez again. Never sign mid level free agents.
  15. Seems like a nice guy. Players seem to like him. Terrible in game manager. Maybe they'll hire offensive and defensive coordinators to handle the strategy.
  16. You had the suspicion that, as an organization, they did not care about playoff seeding, but now they will head into the postseason with zero momentum. I don't think there's anyone going "The White Sox can just turn it on and off at will."
  17. On the bright side, it's not a walk off. Sox are going to lose three games because Ruiz, Gio Gonzalez, and Rodon were put in postitions they shouldn't have been in.
  18. One intriguing potential option is using Rodon as an opener. Sox pen options are better than Cease, Dunning, or Lopez. In a must win game, bullpen day could be pretty formidable.
  19. Maybe we're learning why McCann caught Dunning in his other starts.
  20. Will be interesting. Normally, not a lot of information from instructs, but this year I bet there's more coverage. Or at least I hope there is cuz I'm jonesing.
