No one is saying that, it’s just odd how Renteria uses/doesn’t use him.
-
Three game series, bullpen blew leads in all 3. Bummer can’t get healthy fast enough.
-
Ricky simply does not trust Heuer. I have no idea why not.
-
Seems like Ricky has no confidence in Heuer, which is odd to me, but he uses him in super low leverage situations.

Sox vs KC 8/28 game thread 6:10 first pitch

This is why you don’t trade Kopech. Lopez is not going to be here. -
Ugh. There were no at bats for him, but I still feel bad for the guy. Also, I personally don't like players who can't hit like Jarod Dyson. It always seems like at crucial times they are up proving they can't hit.

Okay, so here's who was available. I bolded some people who are pretty good prospects/impact players in the majors. Nate Pearson is the standout, but he was a fast-rising reliever who was seen as a reach where Toronto took him. He was being mocked a lot to the Cubs. 12. Pittsburgh Pirates: RHP Shane Baz, 13. Miami Marlins: LHP Trevor Rogers, 14. Kansas City Royals: 1B Nick Pratto, 15. Houston Astros: RHP J.B. Bukauskas, 16. New York Yankees: RHP Clarke Schmidt, 17. Seattle Mariners: 1B Evan White, 18. Detroit Tigers: RHP Alex Faedo, 19. San Francisco Giants: OF Heliot Ramos, 20. New York Mets: LHP David Peterson, 21. Baltimore Orioles: LHP D.L. Hall, 22. Toronto Blue Jays: SS Logan Warmoth, 23. Los Angeles Dodgers: OF Jeren Kendall, 24. Boston Red Sox: RHP Tanner Houck, 25. Washington Nationals: LHP Seth Romero, 26. Texas Rangers: OF Bubba Thompson, 27. Chicago Cubs: LHP Brendon Little, 28. Toronto Blue Jays RHP Nate Pearson, 29. Texas Rangers SS Christopher Seise, 30. Chicago Cubs RHP Alex Lange, 31. Tampa Bay Rays: RHP Drew Rasmussen, 32. Cincinnati Reds: SS Jeter Downs, 33. For everyone complaining about the Burger pick, who should they have taken? They had the 11th pick in a 10 player draft. After the Angels grabbed Jo Adell, who I believe the Sox were on, they were left picking through the leftovers. Probably the best guys were... Evan White? D.L. Hall? Jeter Downs? There is no Mike Trout they passed on here. Sucks they killed their draft position in 2016, that the draft fell the way it did, and that Burger got hurt, but of every player development blunder the Sox have ever made, this is pretty low on the list.

Absolutely. Reynaldo should never be in the same sentence... With Jason Bere.

Man, I'd say Lopez is lucky. He has missed with a ton of fastballs drifting right over the middle of the zone. Sox would be killing him.

How much longer do you wait on EE and Mazara?
Timmy U replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was just kidding. Trust me, I was furious the week before that trade was made when it was just rumored. I take a backseat to no man in how much I hate that trade. Just pointing out the Sox drafted JaredMitchell ahead of Mike Trout too. -

Well, if we're playing what ifs, what if they had drafted Trout? -
Good point. ReyLo worked very hard during the offseason at Kobe's facility and then looked okay in real spring. He did not look good during ramp up or in his brief appearance. The question with him for me is not so much conditioning, or command as it is tilt on his pitches. When he came up, he had a plus slider. He doesn't really have that anymore and he has a very flat fastball. That's why he gives up so many long homers. He gets very few swings and misses, therefore he has trouble finishing guys off even when he gets ahead. If he can't come up with a way to get more swings and misses, I think he realizes that he'll slide from prospect to hanger on very quickly.

And the cardboard cutouts head for the exits...

Depends, does Hahn have his phone on him?

I think if I’m not good, I’ll have to watch Cisheck pitch in hell.
-
I had to mute them. They’re barely mentioning the game at this point.

Par for the course tonight. Watching Gio and Lindbloom nibble has been excruciating
-
Gio got hit, walked people and worked slow the entire game. He may have deserved a better fate, but he was an active participant in his own poor performance.
-
Absolutely it was a brutal play, but how exactly is Eloy responsible for Gyorko’s homer? Whole game has been brutal. Eloy is just one part of it.

The LEGEND of Luis Robert ESPN feature article

Yeah, it's pre-existing relationships, which is why the Sox are favored to sign the youngest, who again, is supposed to be good. Disturbing to see that, if you read between the lines, his own father doesn't think that Elijah works that hard to get better. -

Ha ha. Tho the youngest brother is supposed to bd very good and linked to us. Maybe it all works out in the end. -
Welcome! I think Goins is that defense-first bench piece. I remember him from Toronto: he can't really hit, but man can he pick it at short.
-
Robert is always going to be super valuable because of his defense and base running in addition to his hitting, but you look inside the stats of the 3 guys and Eloy may be off to the best, most sustainable start of the 3. Robert currently has a 10% walk rate, 28% k rate, and a .500 BABIP. He hits the ball hard and is super fast, so you imagine he’d have a high BABIP. Probably not that high. Moncada may be able to sustain what he’s doing: 12% walk rate, 25% k rate, with a .429 BABIP. It’s a little high, but he’s proven he’s always going to have a high BABIP. Meanwhile, Eloy, 8% walk rate, 24% k rate, and .364 BABIP. 191 WRC+. He may finish in the neighborhood of those numbers. I am just glad we have all three. Though it did hurt my heart to see who was sitting at 7.
