Veras HR. It was long. 469 ft. 111 off the bat.

Bush is done. 6IP 1 bloop hit 1R 0ER 3bb 2K. He was throwing into a teacup most of the day. Smokies announcers bitching about one call on Gonzalez where he hit a sac fly at the end of a 10 pitch AB. Gonzalez = good situational player. Barons lead 2-1. AHT is in.

Not sure Charlotte is the place to develop pitching. I would not be surprised to see Bush up in Chicago after the trade deadline.
-
Error and a blooper that should have been caught, 1-1 in Knoxville. That blooper was only hit Bush has allowed.
-
Double for Quero. 1-1, 2bb.

Gowens dominated in WS win 8IP 2H 0R 0ER 0bb 6K. Only threw 86 pitches 65 for strikes.

Tatum smoked one. Great play by the cf. Defense keeping Cubs AA team in this game.

Ballesteros is a top Cubs prospect. Can definitely hit, but I doubt he is going to make it as a catcher.

Real pitchers duel in Knoxville. Matthew Thompson is throwing to a HUGE homer home plate, so he's only walked 4 in 4 innings. 3K. Only 1 hit (Baldwin, single) Bush has 2 walks in 3 innings. 2K. He has been squeezed a little.

Nope. I checked.

Does Peralta even get on the plane to Seattle? And who do they DFA to add Thorpe? My guess is either Peralta or Shewmake. But you could always make a case for Dominic Leone, Anderson, or even Clevinger, if they're committing to the young guys.

This might be the beginning of them keeping that group together. In Chicago.

Wolkow signed for $1 million as a 7th rounder. He's a flyer. If he hits, he could be a star. Chances are, he will not hit. You could make a fortune betting the under on every frickin' prospect in baseball. Look at how Jackson Chourio is struggling. Doesn't mean you have to come to the Future Sox board to buzzkill every prospect. We get it. Let us have hope.

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
Timmy U replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
I suspect the M's have one untouchable: Colt Emerson (and maybe Celesten). Would Cole Young, Montes, Farmelo work? Sox taking on a lot of risk in that trade but Montes and Farmelo have major upside. -
I'm not sure timing's gonna matter here that much. Generally, teams wait until after the draft in part because their scouts/execs are busy with the amateurs. Also, psychologically, I don't think a team adding 20 draft picks hurts when they consider surrendering 3 or 4 guys. But as to the return, all the teams have formulas as to what a guy is worth. Lately, teams have tried to make that payment more in quantity than quality. Sox already have a lot of quantity, so it may be hard for them to match up. Unless of course Reinsdorf just wants to get rid of Robert's salary, in which case, they'll get a bunch of 45/50 guys.

I think the Sox could end up with the deepest farm system in the game. They have 4 high picks and could add 6 or 7 more players onto their top 30, but I still don't think it'll be the best overall farm system because of lack of impact. Schultz has a shot at being a top top top guy, but they really lack a potential superstar bat and it's unlikely whoever they draft this year will be viewed that way immediately. And for sure no one is trading you Jackson Holliday or someone like that. So, I'd say they'll be Top Ten.

I wonder if you’ll start seeing more piggybacks in mlb. Sox essentially did it with Crochet and Cannon on Friday. When it works, it keeps two guys on a regular routine and spares the pen. It is probably better for pitcher health than 4/5 guys grabbing 1 inning each. I could tell the Smokies announcers wanted someone other than Adams after he did 3 innings.
-
Wolkow might be the single most important prospect this team has. If he hits, he's a cornerstone. They don't have a lotta guys with 60+ power.
-
Another great play by Baldwin. Diving grab of a liner for a DP.

And for a 13th round pick, that would be a win.
