  1. Cease had better fastball command last year at Birmingham. You gotta wonder if the transition to the slicker mlb ball takes some guys a while.
  2. Really I can’t wait until he doesn’t have that opportunity.
  3. I understand the service time argument, I just think it stinks. Hopefully, in the next CBA there are incentives to make sure the best players in the world are all in the majors. Roberts could strike out in half his at bats and he would still be better than Engel. Current system is a sham.
  4. He also has 7 strikeouts. When he doesn’t strike anyone out, he gets his brains beaten in. I think this and the last start are progress at least. I am looking for 5hings to be happy about.
  5. Third behind Franco and Jo Adell.
  6. I think they were, and they decided to bail on him. Most prospects fail to reach their full upside. That's why it's upside. And as we see guys turning 23, 24, 25, the prospect hounds abandon them. It's interesting how many super young guys make the list. Clearly, BA is interested in long-term potential. Maybe Basabe is starting to seem to them like a 4th outfielder or an up and down guy.
  7. I kind of agree with Stone just from a health perspective. I watch baseball as a pleasant diversion from a stressful job. If I start overstressing about something I REALLY can't control, it goes from "enjoyable hobby" to "bane of my existence." I am basically watching to see Moncada, TA, Gio, Lopez, Cease, Eloy, and Bummer. And I can't wait for Robert. Getting too depressed about whether we finish 10 games under .500 or 20 games under .500 just isn't good for me. Even second-guessing Hahn is a hobby. If I can't laugh at him sometimes or enjoy the fact that Adam Engel must have a cursed doll that gets other outfielders injured, I will go insane. That said, getting swept by Kansas City is laughably bad.
  8. Here’s a little brighter side. We lost three games with our three worst pitchers. The guy who we still have hope for pitched well. Now, Gio and Cease get a crack at KC. Hopefully Reynaldo has started a second half resurgence. Going to Oakland sucks. We don’t have to do it again this season.
  9. Folty started for Gwinnett. He’s MLB quality. Double was an absolute bullet. Then he tagged up and advanced on medium fly by Palka and scored on weak single by Welington Castillo
  10. Actually Collins came into the year with a second round grade almost everywhere, but like a lot of college bats, he was a late riser. By no means did everyone love him. I think Law was not a fan. He's like Bishop this year or Haseley a few years ago, and the history of late-rising college bats is mixed at best.
  11. I think there's some positive regression to be had here as well as hitting at Coors. I wish him luck, but don't regret him being gone.
  12. Robert jammed. Hits a nubber to the pitcher. They have to pitch him inside imho.
  13. Law was not wrong when he said his challenge is going to be inner half. That ball up and away is do not disturb territory for him.
  14. That’s interesting to me cuz clearly Law has Kopech>>>Cease. BP obviously disagrees. Cease of last year with more fastball command was at least Kopech’s equal. Hopefully he gets it straightened out the way Kopech did the second half of last year.
  15. My bad. Cease not eligible cuz currently in the bigs. Law has an unusual criterion there.
  16. Robert is 9, Vaughn is 12, Kopech 25, no Madrigal, no Cease. Very, very high on Kopech, just waiting out the injury. Believes Robert’s ability to handle inside heat is going to be deciding factor between tantalizing regular and star.
  17. Neither Thomas nor Ventura played in low A. I believe both started at Sarasota in the FSL.
  18. Zangari also stinging the ball lately. Still, hard to imagine Sheets, Burger, or Zangari beating out Vaughn.
  19. Walked a guy hitting.120. Boy, the Tigers have a lot of guys having bad years.
  20. He is a right handed hitter who is horrific defensively. Might as well just put Andrew Vaughn out there. At least he would hit. Not to sound like Lillian, but Sox need a LH hitter out there, which is why I suggested a flyer on Polanco.
  21. Ha ha. The difference isn’t the sport or the responsibilities. The difference is that the MLBPA has decided in concert with MLB to absolutely screw over young players to give that money to 35 year old DHs. Now that the steroid era is over, that might be changing. Owners know how lucrative this arrangement is and it will take a strike to change it. For the life of me, I can’t understand why people would rather see JR get the money than Michael Kopech.
  22. I don’t like service time manipulation. Compare baseball to even rookie contracts in basketball and it is so unfair. Check out what Cody Bellinger is making this year v. Yonder Alonso. I hope that Kopech is ready to go next year from the jump because he is fun to watch. The only good reason to send him down is if he has issues ala Burdi.
