  1. Smith also rocking a 50 stache and a 70 mullet. If he’s the pick at 1-5, hard to argue with him.
  2. Crochet out. Lotta pitches this inning. I would not be surprised if he comes back in.
  3. 2b for Maldonado. We should s*** talk him more.
  4. This is the opinion of two guys. They're very entertaining, but hardly the be all and end all of player development talk. Sox have a long way to go, but the important thing is that they fix their ability to draft and develop players. This is merely a symptom. They fix the pipeline, the talent will take care of itself.
  5. Maldonado looks like s*** behind homeplate

Van Schouwen says he fouled a ball off the foot, but I know he also got hit on it.

Man, he hasn't even pitched in a B game. If they do that, I mean, everything I already think of them, but wow. I suppose it's plausible, but wow.
  9. I think it is very unlikely Montgomery goes in the first four picks. Obviously, it is early, but with the way Cags, Condon, and Bazzana have started, there is room for one of Wetherholt, Burns, Smith, Griffin, and Rainer to go ahead of the Sox. Color me shocked if that guy is Montgomery. My money is on one of the pitchers.
  10. Personally, I would go Flexen and Nastrini. I don’t think Deivi Garcia is stretched out. I believe he is destined for the pen.
  11. I'm beginning to think Chad Kuhl's not making this team. And if you can't make the 2024 White Sox, which team could you make?
  12. I would be happy with anyone in a group of Burns, Smith, Montgomery, Griffin, Rainer. Interested how they navigate the pool and the other 3 picks they have by early round 3. I fear they are going to go very heavy in pitching. I want at least one hitter added to the mix.
  13. Possible target for one of their second rounders? This draft seems heavy on risky but projectable HS rhp. It’s one of the reasons I would prefer to get a hitter at 1-5.
  14. Good point. I think Garrett is going to miss his playoff start.
  15. If the Sox started on the road and Crochet started the home opener, this would be a nothing burger. Their actual opener is not really any different. Especially considering they are kicking off a 162 game exhibition season. The debate is really over whether they should give Crochet a shot to start at all. I say they should because three years of a high leverage reliever when there is no such thing as high leverage for a 65 win team is meaningless. Now, I do get the folks who want to claw back a year of service time, but that is a hard argument in the clubhouse when the alternatives in the majors would be, I don’t know, Touki Toussaint and Chad Kuhl? If Touki had been merely bad this spring, I could buy it, but his control has been so bad, it seems that over the winter he lost the concept of “throw.” Starting is Garrett’s dream. It will be fun to root for him as he tries to realize it.
  16. Here’s the issue for the Sox and AAA for anyone: Charlotte is such a joke that most of the numbers are entirely meaningless. You just do not know what you have. A guy can be getting killed there and still survive mlb (e.g. Davis Martin) but it can play with a guy’s head and discourage him from throwing strikes. For a guy like Thorpe whose Achilles Heel has been the long ball, not sure Charlotte is necessary or the best idea long term. The real stars are in AA anyway. I doubt Junior Caminero, Jackson Chourio, and Jackson Holliday are going to combine for 300 career at bats in AAA. You face a lot of Chuckie Robinson in an absolute band box.
  17. I like it. One of the few guys in this team with any upside. I am rooting for Garrett.
  18. As did the Yankees. Sox are everyone’s sucker at the poker table.
  19. Soooo…. It is one spring training outing. I am on record as not liking the profile because there is no margin for error. I do have Nastrini ahead of Thorpe, and this hopefully explains why. God willing, he goes down to AA and keeps working. Sox really have a magic wand with guys like Eder and Thorpe — everything seems fine until they don the Sox uni.
  20. i truly believe he's your opening day starter. Or at least your first game against a rhp starter
  21. I am very high on Nastrini. The change can really help him, and his best slider is nasty. Boy, do the Dodgers know how to draft and develop players. Remember, he was expendable to them. When he got to the Sox, he pointed out how much easier it was to advance in systems that are not good at development. Hopefully, they learn the lesson and start developing their own Nastrini.
  22. Wild. They probably should have held onto Soroka.
  23. I am fine with any of the Top 6 in this mock. Generally, I'm against taking pitchers this high because "there's no such thing as a pitching prospect" due to injuries and inconsistencies. But, for me, Burns, Smith, and Montgomery are all in the same tier. I just don't want them to cut a deal with Kurtz so they can afford two college arms coming off TJS with their second round picks.
