  1. Barons in the midst of blowing it. 4-3 now. Tons of sloppy defense by both teams in this game.
  2. Man, the middle relief at every level of this farm system is horrific.
  3. Quero just got robbed.
  4. Matt's probably done. 5IP 2H 1R 1ER 3bb, HBP, 7K. 50/87 pitches for strikes. He was very good tonight, but his delivery falls apart at times. He has a herky jerky motion that may need to get smoothed out. That said, he was solid.
  5. Bad looking lefty/lefty K for Gonzalez.
  6. Kanny up 4-1. Gonzalez robbed of a hit, gets sac fly out of it. Decent contact to right.
  7. Kanny up 1-0. Gonzalez HBP.
  8. That list is not terrible. Baldwin was a borderline all star before he was hurt, Parque was also cromulent and then hurt, Kip Wells had moments both with the Sox and Pittsburgh, and Buerhle had his number retired. If we get that out of our current crop of pitchers, that is certainly not worst case scenario.
  9. Sure. I think a lot of us are saying they will be more likely to win if they hire from outside the organization.
  10. Good Arozerena profile on ESPN. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38239778/inside-randy-arozarena-stirring-journey-mlb-stardom That guy is an 80 competitor and a lot of times that's what separates winners who shine in the biggest moments and talented people who are out of the game in 5 years. You see it in every sport -- some guys want to win, some guys need to win. Sox need a couple guys like that.
  11. I wonder if their problem is "righty dominated line up"? Yankees are struggling, Sox are struggling. Both of those team are righty dominated. SD has Soto, but in big moments I bet no one lets him beat them. Could also be that SD seems to have a lot of stats-focused players. In extra innings, etc. it's good to have guys who play team-oriented baseball. But who knows? Maybe it's just TWTW.
  12. Tatis broke out in Fall instructs with the Sox.
  13. Well, at least you have a fact-based argument. My brother and I were both vehemently against the trade in the week before it happened after the details were leaked BECAUSE Tatatis was in the deal. We had the discussion on vacation in Skydome, so I remember it distinctly. How the hell would a couple of casual fans know that if Tatis weren't already a publicized prospect? It was an f-ing terrible deal the second it was made and the fact that Shields suuuuuuuuucked was just the whipped cream on top of the crap sundae that everyone knew it was in the week after the deal leaked.
  14. I have previously debunked this canard a billion times. The industry knew he was a break out. Law wrote an article before the trade saying that industry sources who had seen Tatis in instructs said that he'd have been 1-1 had he been eligible for the draft. This is not a Junior Caminero situation. Tatis was highly prized and the Sox dealt him for maximum salary relief for a guy who already sucked.
  15. Barons win 5-1. W-S holding on 14-11. Dalquist struggled again.
  16. Scholtens may have turned into a pumpkin.
  17. Super weird outing for Cannon tonight. Didn't have his normal command, so he really labored by the quality of contact against him was non-existent. Only hard hit ball was foul, but the defense was bad. 3.2IP 3H (all bloops) 1R 0ER 2bb 1K.
  18. Youngest player in Charlotte's line up tonight? 27 year-old prospect Adam Haseley. Development!
  19. Cousin goes 1.2IP 7H 7R 7ER 1bb 1K. Game now 7-7.
  20. Let him use his weird swing first season and then adjust or don't draft him. Taking a bat-first player 1-15 then immediately changing his swing is insane.
  21. Baseball luck in action: Ramos hits a rocket right to the second baseman, Veras punches one to right for the rbi. 2-0 Barons.
  22. Oppo 2b for Gonzalez. Hit pretty well. Broke an 0-9 streak.
  23. He has been way better since returning from the IL.
