QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) Not impossible, but direct experience should be more heavily weighted and valued than random rants on a message board. I could agree with that... but "I can tell you guys have never managed before or played baseball" Not sure that would qualify. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) I don't think it is wrong to point out the experience level difference. Just because you traded a stock or watched CNBC, it doesn't mean you know investing as well as Warren Buffet. Baseball isn't any different. And from a practical standpoint, the management staff is going to be privy to information that none of us have, and probably will never know. I mean even if we are just talking about understanding the personalities of his players, how would we know that stuff? Like it or not, there is an advantage from having done something for decades on an intimate and personal level that people outside of the game will never have. Of course people with "inside information" have a scope others don't. But if every time people are going to disagree.. someone is going to play the "you haven't done it before card," then pretty much that eliminates most opinions as invalid in most walks of life. It's like... impossible to have direct experience of everything we have opinions on. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Why must you post so condescendingly with mostly every post that you make? I am curious. Do you have responses like this to people you talk to in your everyday life? What's funny is how you don't like my post as being "condescending" but yet the post I responded to was condescending people for having an opinion about managers... someone telling us we can't have an opinion about something because we haven't done it before... is condescending. I think it would be quite common to feel that way. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 03:09 AM) of the game-winning manager, breath of fresh air listening to him for a change http://m.mlb.com/video/v811772783/detcws-r...?game_pk=447820 Eh he said a lot of things that made me lol. Nothing to see there really. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) The guys arguing that we wouldn't have won without Rentaria are the guys who have never played, nor managed a baseball game. Oh right because you have to "have played" or "managed" a game to have an opinion. You better not complain if your mechanic charges you for some questionable things... hey dude you have never been a mechanic... Or better not complain if your governor messes something up... I mean you have never been the governor? All these people voting for president.. You can just tell they have never been president before. C'mon with that silly silly siiiiiiiiiiiily logic. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 03:40 AM) I hate to be this guy, but have you ever seen an 87 MPH slider come at you from the left side? Do you know how much time you have to decipher that pitch? Do you know why the best hitter only hits .330 or so every year? Baseball is not easy. s***ty games happen, and bad matchups happen, and the Sox really don't match up well with the Royals right now, especially with Jackson out for an extended period of time. But I'm sure you wish you could have been above that dugout. I'm guessing that if Avisail Garcia were watching every little thing you did while you were working and he say you screw up, the first thing he'd do was yell "BOOO!" Oh boy... the old "if you can't do it you can criticize argument" Yeah I better not vote for president or pretty much have an opinion about most anything in life. Have you really ever thought that line of reasoning out? I didn't say in the dugout either buddy, nor do I think hitting is easy - it's probably on of the toughest things athletically to do is hit a major league pitcher. However, the white sox performance batting that day was one of the top 5 worse I've seen all year - I watch a lot of baseball (MLB package) but the problem is they have been having these problems for years. It wasn't just "a bad day" or "bad match up." It's been going on for awhile.

Robertson just comes across as panicky to me...
-
Robin ... just go away.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) 3 divisional teams are just better than the Sox. Recipe for a lot of losses. Any team is better than the sox.. .besides Atlanta.. Recipe for a lot of losses

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) Yes I don't believe you really think that... sorry.
-
Coats looks horrible... fits right in with the rest of the squad.
-
Erik Johnson looks like Cy young compared to this fraud.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 08:23 AM) Until yesterday, Lawrie had been hitting the ball pretty hard lately. Lawrie has pop when he makes contact.. he just has poor pitch recognition. He swings at balls and takes strikes.
-
QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Jun 12, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) I've noticed that Lawrie is always in an 0-2 count...pitchers must know to get ahead of him and he'll be an automatic out. This guys mental approach to hitting is bad... if he could just learn to lay of 25% more bad pitches he would find a lot more success.

QUOTE (thedoctor @ Jun 12, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) everyone's trying too hard. they're making a slump a death spiral. This is where I see the manager failing.
-
Today was especially horrible. The KC pitchers will throw 1 strike in 10 pitches and the inning will be over. I'm sorry but how people/players coaching staff couldn't be angry in that dugout at what our hitters are doing after the past couple days is beyond me. I wish I could have been above that dugout today. Unbelievable.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) Sale is a fiery guy who doesn't want to come out of the game.there is no story there okay I guess we all will just assume that's what it was.... though Robin has taken him out 100 times before and I've never seen Sale bark at him. But I guess you guys are really sure so nothing to see here.
-
He was barking at Ventura about something... yeah Sale being angry isn't new... but him barking at Ventura is new. I wondered if anyone heard or saw what the issue was.
-
I didn't see anyone talking about it on here... was watching the KC broadcast when it happened. Sale was barking at Ventura pretty hard when he took him out of the game. I had never seen him do that before.
-
Seriously seems to me like these guys think if they don't win this year their done.
-
The talk of "public humiliation" .... I'm not even sure what you guys are talking about? Are you talking about roasting someone in the media? Have you guys ever been to a major division 1 practice or professional practice (I've been to both)? Have you ever watched "Hard Knocks?" People get called out in front of people constantly... every day, every hour. I've heard things a coach has said to a college kid that the kid's mother might have shot the coach (and this is front of people watching). This coach was tremendously successful btw. I'm not saying this is the best way, nor am I saying it has anything to do with Ventura. Because I think our players play like they are too stressed out - not that Ventura doesn't yell at them or whatever. I don't even know what he does. But this entire talk of "Public Humilation" I'm not really sure what you guys are talking about. Sometimes being called out is THE ONLY WAY that some people will wake the F*** up. Playing sports my entire life I knew ALOT of guys that fit that bill. Some people it doesn't work - they go into a shell. But maybe I'm confused by what you guys meant...

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) the last half of 2013 and all of 2014, the Sox were rebuilding and there was a ton of complaining around here. Everyone still holds the record during that time against the manager. I don't think many who are calling for a rebuild truly understand what a rebuild entails. I don't think many people hold 2013-2014 against Ventura.... 2012, 2015, 2016 are a different story.

This is some of the worst baseball I've seen in a long long time. No one in that dugout or team has ANY clue how what to do.
