No offense... guys that swing at everything... no home runs pulling everything. I'm happy with our record... but yeah I have some serious doubts about these bats.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Now, that was a sh--ty at bat by AJ. Pitcher never threw a strike. I swear we lead the majors in that category the past 4 years... outs recorded without the pitcher actually throwing a strike -

See a lot of whining about danks... danks (so far) isn't the issue this game -

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) Lawrie is one of the few guys pulling their weight at the plate right now. His D has been more than fine. That's not really what I was asking. Is he supposed to be a strong defensive player? His career hitting numbers are not much. What is his strength? -

Is Lawrie a good defensive 2nd basemen? I'm confused really... he is a career 260 hitter with not a lot of power... -

Need Abreu to get going... hasn't looked good the last few games. Grounds balls to short stop and strike outs. -

Sale has not been that impressive since early last year. If we are going to compete he has to be dominant and not throwing home runs all over the place. -
People who let their personality out in jobs like Harrelson are always going to be hated by some. Just like Dick Vitale, John Madden, Gus Johnson ect. Sure you can be the safe "khaki pants" speaking, which some here seem to prefer. But If I watching a white sox game I prefer "homer" announcers... If I'm looking for a different perspective I'll listen to the royals announcers or Twins announcers on foxsports KC,North, ect. Hawk isn't perfect.. but at least he doesn't take an innately boring game and make it more boring like 90% of the announcers do.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Francona's first 4 years as a manager 68-94 75-87 77-85 65-97 Why would anyone ver give him another job? He got fired after that 4th season and didn't manage again for another 4 years.
-
The white sox historically are not a very successful organization (especially after the deadball era.. 1905 and 1917 championships). There are records to prove this. They aren't the worst... but people having higher expectations than "not the worst" I mean wow are they allowed to?
-
Making the playoffs isn't my issue with Ventura this year. However as I posted earlier... their should have been some improvement. There was zero. And I do see that at least partially on Robin... especially after two straight horrible losing years. I just don't see how you can bring him back. There is no logic in it period.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) Whoever you think is the best manager in baseball, if they managed the 2015 White Sox, do you think they are a playoff team? Playoffs... probably not. However I expected improvement with the upgraded roster and another year of young players to grow. There was basically none.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) Really not that huge of a fan. I like him, but I think problems are fixed by targeting the problems. Firing Robin doesn't make the White Sox a better baseball team. It might appease the people frothing at the mouth, but every loss isn't on him. People act like if the Sox had someone they would consider "competent" we will throw out Dave Martinez who nobody here knows, nobody here has any idea why he keeps getting turned away, even in TB, but thinks he will be a great manager because when he watches games. He sits next to Joe Maddon, this team apparently would be playoff contenders the last 4 years. I am not the one being illogical. I agree with a lot of what you said. They tried getting new players and it was all the same. I don't think he deservers to be or should be back.
-
Simple Question Dick. Why do you love Robin so much? There are pretty clear reasons as to why people have a problem (losing) But regardless why you defend him with such vigor. Why?
-
Even with some good changes there will be absolutely no expectation for success next year. Not with the same manager and front office.
-
It's funny how some people posted that they are "not surprised." I must say I'm at least a little surprised. I have never seen in my lifetime a coach with ZERO success go into a 5th season. That is absolutely pure incompetence. Unbelievable.
-
Abreu is just trying way to hard the last couple of weeks. You can see he is pressing.
-
Will Avi be a starter on this team next year? I honestly don't think so.
-
Heymans article makes me lol... I guarantee that guy has not watched Shark pitch one game this year. I'm not sure that guy knows just how bad Shark has been... his fastball is okay... not great. The rest of his pitches are pure meatballs. Heyman insinuates that the defense was bad and the coaching has sucked... defense can't stop the ball from being launched over the fence over and over. That article was funny and out of touch.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) I just thought a grown man wouldn't be so sensitive. That's it. It is what it is. He probably doesn't want to argue with some random fan on Twitter... kind of a smart play on his part. That being said... He really needs to fix a lot of things or else he will soon be a player no one remembers. However he is young so he still can find it.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) Plus watching him at 1B makes you think Conor Gillaspie probably looks like a good defensive 3B compared to what Abreu would be over there. I really don't get why people think Abreu is bad at 1st base... This.. to me is where rankings and advanced stats and Bill James crap start to mess with people. Abreu has turned so many double plays.. More than I can remember Konerko every doing (but maybe I just don't remember). LaRoche is supposed to be a gold glove 1b and when he has been in there he has been no better or worse than Abreu. I'm not saying Abreu is a gold glover... but I really fail to see how people think he is bad.. I know his numbers are low but I just can't remember thinking hardly any times where his defense has been a liability or cost us games.

That's some blackmail material.

Roberston has two pitches and his fastball is meat.... He just is so vulnerable. He also comes across to me as soft.
