Abreu is a big part of why this team can't score runs... -
GAMETHREAD - 5/23 - Twins @ White Sox

The Fastball/change up Sale is not 1/2 as good as the one with the silder.. Who ever told him to change to this needs to be kicked in the nads. -
offense still putrid... we play in a phone booth and we cant hit home runs.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 21, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Wow you have to pay for the finder on B-Ref? I was going to run a search for it. I'm sure he's right there and could possibly be the worst qualified FIP and xFIP. He's certainly close to the bottom in ERA and ERA+ as well. Danks wasn't great... but no winning many games with this offense.

1. No power. 2. No walks. 3. Strike out a lot... 4. don't steal bases.. Quite a successful formula....

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 13, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) I hate Sox at Oakland.................nothing ever goes right. DR needs to learn his curve ball is a lot more deadly than his 91 mph fastball.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ May 11, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) I didn't then, and I certainly don't now with Semien playing like an all-star. Fair enough... however out of the countless people I talked to all of them talked about the Shark deal and how the White Sox now had a elite starting staff... I didn't encounter one person who thought it was a bad deal.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ May 11, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) I'm done with this franchise until Reinsdorf dies. Busted organizational philosophy that starts at the tippity top, and is executed by long-time buffoon KW. The trade of Semien for "Shark" is the perfect illustration of everything that is wrong with the franchise (along with the endless run of dips*** managers): Zero interest in developing young talent internally, zero appreciation for those few prospects with real "baseball" skills, and a desperate, needy affinity to go "All In" and mortgage the future when everyone else in the world knows you don't have a prayer. The Sox should just move to Quebec already. Getting Shark wasn't a dumb move... another mediocre infielder isn't really that big of a deal... I'm going to wait on Semien until I make any final conclusions - one good month doesn't make a career. No one knew that Shark would suck so bad... everyone on earth thought it was a great deal.

QUOTE (joegraz @ May 11, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) Cooper was the second coming of Christ as he "fixed" all of those cast-offs over the years. Conversely, he must suck now. Therefore, he sucks. I don think its Cooper's fault this team is 2-12 on the road... It's glaringly obvious that this team lacks someone to get them mentally in the right place. 2-12 on the road is mental. That goes on the coaching staff - but mostly its Ventura.

Robin I love ya - hell of a guy. But please if you bleed for this team step down because this just isn't your thing.

White Sox at Twins Game Thread 7:10 PM CT

Batting Abreu 4th has now helped put him in a slump. Just nice all around. -
I like Robin but if this doesn't turn around like ... in a week he needs to go. We can't just let this season and the money we spent go down the drain.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:04 PM) I'm not defending Ventura but he sure has hell didn't bring back that worthless f*** Flowers. He didn't tell Chris Sale to start overthrowing and getting shelled, either. And he didn't sign Samardzija who's had what, one good game? But RV sure as hell isn't getting through to these guys. We've had a player's manager for 11 years now. Yes, it got a WS. But maybe it's time to go old school. He isn't the entire problem but I (like many people) have known that Robin for whatever reason is not a MLB manager. Now we are really seeing his failures as we spent money to make a contender but he produces the same mentally weak/lethargic material.

Royals @ White Sox Game Deux

Team doesn't care because it's manager is walking corpse. I cant stand watching this team at the end of the year the last 3 seasons. Pure unwatchable trash sorry. -
Sox 9-25 since August 1st

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Avi has a lot of bad tendencies at the plate. I said this last week, but I wouldn't be upset if they use him as a major piece in a trade. Avisail sure doesn't look like much for all the hype he is given. At one time I thought this team could be good next year... wow do I not see that anymore. Robin is gone also - there is no way with this horrible finish that they can keep him again for next year.
-
I like Robin - great sense of humor, great demeanor. I just don't think he is very smart.
-
only 5 games better this year at this point than last year.... However a lot of these players will be gone.... and the manager will be gone. Hopefully they find some bull pen help next year.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:06 PM) I'm with you, but the late season collapses were happening well-before a Robin got here...it's like something in the water. Yeah in Ozzies last few years they collapsed like folding chairs when it mattered also.
-
melton just commented on the pattern of late season collapses.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) I can't blame this on Robin now. Torre wouldn't help this team. We suck. We don't suck- with a decent bull pen we are in some kind of hunt. We aren't great though either (we def suck at times) If Robin was more solid I'm not saying we would be in the playoffs our bullpen is too bad. I'm simply saying he isn't manager material. I think even with this horrible bullpen some better game management we could be 500.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) They have a team ERA over 6.00 in the 8th inning and about 5.00 in the 9th. Eaton, Abreu, Gillaspie, Garcia, Sale all have spent time on the DL. Paulino and Johnson were total busts. I don't know how that all is Robin's fault. What should their record be? All is a strong word - I wouldn't say its all his fault. The bullpen is total trash no doubt. I loved Robin Ventura when he played here and I think he has a great sense of humor personality ect. I just don't think at this point he has (he had zero managing experience) he can handle this job day to day. Some day he might but he just isn't there yet.
-
RV just (in my opinion) makes too many mistakes that cost us a game here and there. Mistakes tonight: #1 runners on 2nd and 3rd no one out - Danks up (who just bunt for a hit earlier) and no sacrifice. Ventura has no concept of moving runners up - he especially has been amazingly bad about it this year. #2 putting Webb in in the 9th. We all knew as soon as Webb went in there the game was over. Put in Petricka he hasn't pitched much lately. I would love Robin in some form in the organization - but he is not a MLB manager. He knew he wasn't when he took the job and why he was so hesitant.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) Check out the rosters then pop off. Yeah because that Yankee roster so much better. Yeah our roster isn't all that special however there is 3 years to me is a pattern. Hope I'm wrong and all the "people with perspective" who don't blame RV are so correct as there level of smug. I'd gladly eat crow.

another Ventura squad floundering down the stretch. I love Robin, his sense of humor... demeanor. But he is absolutely not a major league manager.
