QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 11:35 AM) Leury has outstanding speed. played as well, if not better, than Engel defensively, hits from both sides of the plate and showed some pop. Everyone else is in line behind him and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Engel is eventually released. Engel has elite speed. Leury does not. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard Engel plays elite defense. Leury does not. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/catch_probability_leaderboard

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 03:50 PM) I have been surprised how well he handles the media. Especially with how ostentatious he sounded with his car buying you weren't sure if it was a sign of arrogance as with Puig, but if he is it certainly doesn't sound like it. But the other part is I'm sure there is a bond and connection with other baseball players coming from Cuba, it's an experience few could possibly relate to. It doesn't hurt that they have 40 million dollars between them

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 11:21 AM) I'm thinking 4 for sure.. With probably Cease at the back end. Who are you thinking is the 5th for sure? The current list has 6. I don't see why it would change. -

QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 31, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) When it comes to velocity and spin rate, 95-96 with above average spin>98-99 with below average spin. High spin makes it harder to pick up the ball to the eye of the hitter, and 96 with above average spin might as well be 100, and 99 with below average spin might as well be 94. You have to use both data points together. Have you ever seen guys throw upper 90s and still get destroyed by hitters? I have, and now we have found that the reason why is they had below average spin. You're talking like that's the sole reason why. Can you point to any articles stressing the importance relative to other advanced metrics? -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 29, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) The player comparison for Reynaldo Lopez is perfect. The comp for Yolmer Sanchez is much better. It's too bad that Yolmer is already too old to be the youngest heavyweight champ

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 24, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) I'd definitely do that Yeah idk... He's the best player in the league, but what have the Angles been able to do with the best player in the league for the last 6 seasons? Now you would be trading for what will withought question be the least valuable years of his contract thus far.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) Why refer to a potentially misleading side angle? The angle 10 seconds before that is head on. You really prefer the angle where the impact isn't even in the frame?

Anyone who is doubting that his knee hits the box needs to watch this starting at 1:35 Watch the right knee. It's pretty clear even with the crappy quality.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Because the chances TA are a plus CF are less than that he's a plus SS, especially factoring in positional scarcity. If Machado is coming, TA should be going out imo. Wrong -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) Well that doesn't make much sense IMO. Have you been following the talk? Machado want's to be moved to where he can play SS. Anderson is not good a SS -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) Another thing Rosenthal said is that Machado would play SS and the Sox would move Anderson to CF. Well the Anderson part is a positive. He doesn't have the touch for SS -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) Can you name the last few stars that have been traded the offseason before their walk year? I’m sure there are examples, but I can’t think of one other than Shark and that’s using the term loosely. Feels like teams have smartened up and are saving their chips for impact players with more control. I'm not sure if it is the most recent, but Johan Santana had 2 Cy Young's, 4 top 5 finishes, and 32.5 WAR in the 5 seasons before he was traded -

QUOTE (SoxSteve @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) I read some earlier post's that Machado has a bad attitude and isn't a team player. Been trying to find some reports on that with no luck. Has anyone else heard that or can provide anything on pertaining to his perceived attitude? Thanx much appreciated. I remember these two instances where he looked extremely immature -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:57 AM) He’s been pretty spot on about things. So yah I do. Things can change quickly at the meetings. Except in this case the only thing that has changed has been his stance. The rumors were there before he denied them -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:47 AM) @barstoolWSD This is some conjecture/ some scoopage, but asked around and am pretty sure Kopech is off limits in a Machado deal FWIW I trust Dave. Did you trust him 2 days ago when he said there was no chance the Sox would be after Machado? -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 11:36 AM) Burdi is who I would be all over. His injury actually positions us in a good position to get him and not need to stash him on the active roster as long. McCullough / Coshow are worthwhile too. I don't see it that way. They'll still need to keep in on the roster the same amount of time next year instead of this year. The only difference is this is more of a throwaway year than next year will be. Still I won't argue against drafting him

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) I'm talking about just claiming a guy on waivers, not the Rule 5 draft order. Where does it say the waiver order becomes the draft order in the offseason?

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) Yes it is: https://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3525 So basically, only the Tigers and Giants have priority over the White Sox if they want Mark Appel. Where does it say what you are referring to? Can you post an excerpt?

White Sox add Gillaspie, Eloy, Basabe, Clarkin and Micker
credezcrew24 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't expect anyone from the Sox to get picked. I could maybe see Guerrero, but he hasn't shown much in 2 full seasons at the pitcher friendly park in Birmingham. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 05:15 PM) Thought I never heard of him before today, but I remember this...wow. (Name still misspelled in the title) There's a good chance that's the fastest a pitcher has ever recorded an out in their debut

Is it possible they will be available under the 2016 international rules?

40-man roster decisions and the Rule 5 Draft
credezcrew24 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 07:54 AM) Due to the number of rebuilders, there is a bigger risk to losing some of these guys. They can be stashed on the roster if teams aren't expecting to win anyway. The Sox did it last year with a pitcher who barely pitched above A Ball - and our eligibles had at at least the credentials he did. 2 of the 3 players from Yanks were Rule 5 eligible and still in the low minors - Yankees knew what they were doing. Keep: clark, Jimenez, Guerrero, Peter, Polo, Adolpho, Clarkin, Cooper, Walsh Keep either Hayes or Gillaspie. I like Lechich, but I'd chance it. That's 10 spots and need 5 openings. Not a problem. Dump: Albequerque, Farquar, Petricka, Beck, Covey If they need more room, dump Fry, and combination of May, Hansen, W Garcia. I suppose they could dump Putnam, but he's actually been a good pitcher They may need a couple of spots for veteran arms; but Minaya and Infante (both of whom pitched pretty darn well last year) can fill that role. Hayes was left exposed last year. After the season he just had there's no reason to even talk about him when discussing the 40 man -
