QUOTE (Scoots @ May 5, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Why was Asche playing in on Davis? Why is Asche playing in the Majors? -
He has awful footwork and feel around second base

It seems like there has been a ridiculous amount of postponements with the White Sox MILB affiliates thus far. Is it mostly just a drainage, grounds crew, facility, funds thing or just really, really bad weather.

White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market
credezcrew24 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) They wouldn't actually receive cash. They'd just receive the slot which gives them the bigger pool of their own money to spend. It keeps them from paying a bigger penalty. It's all money though so it's kind of semantics. I understand that. I'm saying there must be a rule to stop a team like the White Sox from giving a team 300k in cash for a bonus slot worth 1 million they wouldn't otherwise use. -
White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market
credezcrew24 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The has got to be a rule prohibiting trading cash for a teams bonus pool. That would be a ridiculous if the White Sox could trade cash for a teams unused allotments to save on the tax -
Do all minor league levels only play 7 innings per game on the day of a double header?

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 07:58 PM) Hawk gets excited over a "tremendous" catch that Luery should have been standing under to catch...save the excitement Hawk, you don't have much left in you at this point That's the same stuff Adam Eaton would do in center. Johnny Knox too if you watch the Bears -
Does anyone know if there are any other available players left on the market that would demand significant bonuses that the Sox could pair with Robert during the current signing period?

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 07:17 PM) It looks like Hahn is making a push to move him prior to opening day. Makes sense. Spring training pitching is an all-you-eat buffet for AAAA hitters. You just can't make much of the hitting stats. Reed is fine as a throw-in, but he's got to show he can hit real pitching; and he's not in shape so it's not like we'd be getting a Konerko. He's a pudgy slugger type if he figures it out. What makes you think that Hahn is making a push to move Q prior to opening day?

White Sox Scout Yankees for Potential Q Trade
credezcrew24 replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) Not shocked, according to Fabian they changed scouting last July to only top farms to get more info on potential trades back. May have a few teams on a short list for July and are focused, but so many more cover yankees that this gets out. I would like to respectfully ask for clarification on your post. Though I am admittedly ignorant on the subject, I would assume there is a huge difference in scouting specialties. Amateurs are probably based off of predictability/potential while ML scouts would try to focus on exploitation. Does anyone know if most scouts generally experts in both or one or the other? I would think that a reallocation of the budget from player payroll to scouting would make more sense than the reallocation of scouts. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) Gio Gonzalez is basically the only player Kenny traded that amounted to being worth a damn. Unless we're gonna pine for Chris Carter. I would be interesting to see a list of players Kenny traded sorted by career war. If Gio really is number 1, Chris Young might be number two.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
credezcrew24 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Robertson's value is at an all-time low. I'd prefer to see the White Sox risk holding him until the deadline. -
Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Feb 11, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) It does if those 2 mlb players are a salary dump Sure, I just don't think that narrative fits. Looking at there roster I don't really see any current SP that could be considered a salary dumb. For the other current mlb player the only guys I could see maybe being bad contracts are Harrison, Bastardo, who if he had a good season could be a trade deadline flip candidate or Kang who could simply be released. -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) My point was that would be after this season is over . Just can't see him still being on the Sox for the full season when there's still a shot at him being traded before the season starts and during the season. Solid point. My mistake.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) If Frazier makes it to the point that the Sox have to decide whether to give him a QO it will shock me. Players are less likely to accept a QO now that the compensation has been lessened.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
credezcrew24 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Can anyone explain to me how Kevin Maitan who some claim to be a "Once in a Generation Talent" signed for 4.25 million while Moncada signed for 31.5 million the year before? Furthermore, highly hyped Cuban prospects such as Yadier Alvarez signed for (16 million) and Lazarito (3 Million) I would be very surprised to see Luis Robert sign for over 3 million due to the fact that I assume teams have already spent a good portion of there allocated money for international free agents. I may be in the minority and having no inside information I could certainly be horribly off base, but my initial observation is that the White Sox can offer a competitive amount of money without going over the spending limit and incurring penalties. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 10:47 PM) That we are tired of watching a guy and frustrated with a guy does not change the calculation. I agree I just think you erroneously value Avi higher than I do. You say you want to see the Sox develop someone better at the position. I assume "develop" and "acquire" are interchangeable considering a trade for a prospect or waiver claim as was the case with Tilson and Liriano. I think Tilson, Liriano, and Coats deserve the chance to show they can succeed in Chicago. Avi has had that chance.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Unfortunately, Avi Garcia is a guy who this organization has control of. Our job now is to watch guys this organization has control of fail - until one of them succeeds, they develop someone better at that position, or they develop enough other good people at other positions where that glaring weakness becomes important. Avi is, unfortunately, exactly the kind of guy we need to be targeting right now, whether we like it or not. And I have no issue with signing Pedro Alvarez. Just be clear about what he is. He's a dime a dozen player. Aaron Hill, for one check, was traded for a 27 year old with an ERA over 6, a 20 year old in high A with an OPS of .516, and the Red Sox sent along cash while they were at it. I don't consider those type of trades to be bringing back anything of value and that's what Alvarez would bring back. The odds of Garcia being a solid MLB hitter at age 25 are similar to the odds of Alvarez bringing back anything better than that. We should still sign a DH like Alvarez and we should still trade Frazier and Cabrera for whatever garbage we can get for them. That should leave us playing guys in the OF who have some talent but who have busted elsewhere and can be had for cheap, because 1 out of every several hundred of them might turn into Jose Bautista and when there's no downside we may as well play as many of them as we could. Like it or not, Avi Garcia is an example of one of those guys. You can't let "I'm sick of watching him on my team" impact that decision. He is more than likely to fail miserably, but he is under our control already. Play him for another year then check out where you are next offseason. Worst case scenario he fails miserably again and the White Sox are rebuilding in 2018. Guess what...the White Sox are a rebuilding team in 2018. The problem is we've seen Avi fail miserably. Excluding Melky for the sake of comparison: at this point the the off season I'd take Tilson in center with Coats and Liriano manning the corners and getting the vast majority of the at-bats.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
credezcrew24 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe the deal is contingent on McCutchen signing an extension. -
He's always looked out of shape to me. I expect improvement in his stats this year, but I don't know if he can ever be an ace if he doesn't focus more on his body.
-
I didn't watch a whole lot of games after Tim was called up, but I remember watching 2 where he completely missed tagging second on a routine double play. Based on that I think his footwork around second needs a lot of work and that kind of thing probably doesn't factor into DRS.

I don't think that I've heard of Danny Hayes before, he's certainty put up sold offensive numbers and if his defense is adequate it seems like he's a guy who should be put on the 40 man roster.
