  1. Abreu flirts with a 400 BA for most of the yr. and wins MVP
  2. On a high note Danks has a pretty good record against KC and we have 2 series against them this April.
  3. ''And he gave up a home run to Leury Garcia(that is really bad in case you don't know)''...lol to funny Good for Leury. I'm probably the only sox fan that likes him. I'm not sure what you can do with Danks. I don't think the team will eat his contract so start him a few games an see what happens. Maybe by then we'll have Rodon ready to go and we can use Danks for long relief. I don't think Shark had such a good spring either. Maybe they would eat half his salary. I hear the Twins are looking for another starter.
  4. The Umps...They always make bad calls against my team
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) How far we've come: Matt Lindstrom was our closer last April/May That was my thought also. I don't suppose it'll hurt to have him in AAA just in case, but it doesn't sound good that the Angels cut him.
  6. 90 wins and the division, I really can't see anyone but maybe KC beating us so we'll have to take it to KC this yr. and finally win the series against them.
  7. One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is a players desire to win. Sure money talks and many players consider their family and or team chemistry before signing with a team but I think high up on the list is winning a ring. I'm not suggesting we'll win one anytime soon but we're not looking to bad now and for the future.
  8. It's still early yet in ST. (I keep reminding myself) Micah's facing a lot of AAA pitchers and invites but still he's workin it. Be nice to see his speed on the team and I like how he's going with the pitches. I really didn't expect much out of 2b this yr. but the way he's looking we might have us a pretty darn good ballplayer.
  9. Micah (8): Saladino (8): Cabrera (5): TouchemAllJoe, LaRoche (3): Condor13, Avi (5): Gillaspie (6):AlSoxfan Flowers (6): Nieto (8): Thompson (7): Bench (10): None (1):
  10. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) Everything you will read this spring about Rodon starting the season in Chicago will be completely driven by the media. In the example of this story, I'm sure he was asked if he's ready now, and of course he said yes because who wouldn't. There is no doubt that the Sox already know he will be spending time in Charlotte this year. And there's no doubt that's the smart decision. There are also legitimate arguments, which many are making here, that he isn't ready anyway. My thoughts exactly..
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 08:30 AM) with all due respect, but do you really believe it is his competitive nature that has him saying this? look at wash and B Harper this offseason. it was all competitive, yup, between his agent and wash fo about his tenure and salary. it about the money, i think the sox fo will have a better idea on him and whether he is good enuf to help the team come playoff. I'm sure money's in the back of his mind and he has a good healthy sense of how much he can make (ie the agent he hired) I still think it's his competitiveness that drives him to want to make the team out of spring training. Don't all athletes want to compete against the best, be the best? They hire agents to worry about the money.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 07:10 AM) I also disagree with the notion that we'll know more by the end of Spring Training. He could throw 30 straight perfect innings and I'd still say "He's going to wind up exhausted by the all star break if we try to use him on the big league team from day 1 and that will cost us dearly in the 2nd half". I don't disagree with you there, I just think or meant he's still working on his change-up and he's never faced any big league hitters yet. I don't believe there's any rush to bring him up yet either. The last thing I wanna see is him burning out early or injuring his arm.
  13. While I love his competitive nature I really don't think he's ready yet and I don't think money or any of that is on his mind just yet. He wants to compete with the best because he believes he's one of the best. Nothing wrong with that. The Sox will know more by the end of spring training and then we'll see how it'll work out.
  14. He was one of my favorites, wish he would of made the hall...RIP Minnie an Thanks
  15. I think right now it's hard to pick. While I love Johnson's speed we need a good glove. I think Johnson will hit better also but I'd have to wait till after spring training to choose. I'd like to see how well Johnsons glove plays. If I had to pick right now though I'd have to go with Sanchez. The other 2 or 3 would really have to impress me.
  16. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) Even if we are in contention at the trade deadline, Shark could be traded for some quality prospects. If we're contending at the trade deadline I think it would be foolish to trade him for prospects unless they're some pretty top notch prospects. I thought part of the whole idea of trading for him is so we could contend and possibly win it all, while at the same time get a try-out of him.
  17. I think it'll all come down to how well he pitches this yr. Maybe by yrs. end we won't want him back but I think he'll have a pretty good yr. He seems to be becoming a fan favorite already so that might count for something an if he has fun an does well we might get a discount. I still figure he'll get between 100/120 for 5 yrs. That seems kinda steep for us but who knows. I'll be rooting for him, I think he fits on this team.
  18. While I expect Robin to say as much I honestly think we have as good a chance if not better than anyone else in the div.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) I was fighting for Robert because that's my dad's name, Roberto Clemente and Robert F. Kennedy.....but it sounds like "robot" in Chinese English so I have compromised to Ethan Robert if it's a boy. For a girl, Chloe or Zoe(y). Probably Zoe(y), because Chloe is a perfume and also for the Salinger short story. Chloe sounds too much like a celebrity kid's name, although Zoe kind of does, too. "One Dog" or "Lance On Point" are tempting. Or The Deacon. As for the Angels' pick, a lot depends on Richards' health. He was their ace last year before the injury. And I wouldn't be betting on anything more from Hamilton and Pujols than what they provided last year. Well you could go with Robin either way...grins but those are all good names an by the way I forgot to say congrats I'd take the over on 82 wins but don't think I'd bet our Sox for the WS win but can't really be counted out. I'm really not sure who in the AL though, could be a few different teams there. The Nats do look pretty solid in the NL. Seems like it's always a wild card team that wins it though. Gonna be a good yr. I think, a lot of teams are able to win it this yr....not many push-overs
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 06:44 PM) Yep, can't wait for March 4th...first spring training game (and first baby's due date March 3rd). Seems like it is taking forever this year. Maybe that's because there's so much more excitement this year....definitely the most since 2011, and maybe going all the way back to 2006. (Normally, fwiw, the first weekend in April is the coolest because of the Final Four, start of the regular season and the Masters all hitting at the same time, along with the nicer weather). First baby? who're going to name him after?..lol Agreed that is a good time of the year an it looks like Vegas is picking an Angels/Nats WS
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 15, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) How the hell can anyone rank all 30 managers? lol well apparently Cafardo can. I do have to agree with his top 5 picks though
  22. I see most guys saying low risk good deal but how many of you think he'll make opening day roster? I think he'll make it
