Well, I feel like since Korey Lee has an option and completely sucked when he was called up, having a defensive first guy to pair with the inevitable Sal Perez trade is fine with me. I just wouldn't want to see that guy (shades of when they took Nieto) and Lee.
They could sign another veteran to a 1 year deal (or say, Giolito to a 1 year deal with player option, similar to Rodon deal) and then Ohtani would replace said veteran.
Yeah maybe see if you can find an interesting starter to hide in a long relief/6th starter role or something. Maybe that Kristian Robinson as a potential RHH 4th OF that Squirmin mentioned earlier in a thread.
They can cut guys after a move is made. Doesn't have to be in anticipation of a move happening.
It does make sense if they want to take someone in the Rule 5 Draft though.
Yeah I really don't read into Tweets too much. Some people overanalyze and overreact to every single one like there is a deep meaning when its likely piggybacking off another report and/or clickbait.
Cornering the market on older, minor league OFs.
Mark Payton (31) is back: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/white-sox-mark-payton-agree-to-minor-league-contract.html
Wynton Bernard (33): https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/white-sox-sign-wynton-bernard-to-minor-league-deal.html
A whopping 52 major league games between the two.
That's fine. Teams don't always want to spend on aging and/or (soon to be) declining players if they can trade unproven talent for proven, in their prime, controllable talent.
Is it possible they’re pushing Cowser in favor of Hjerstad getting a shot to start in LF or RF for them?
Either way, I would still hold out for Hjerstad.
Yeah I was just saying, there is room for a couple more of the top prospects, if they’re not moved.
Try to grab Kjerstad, Norby, and then other pieces.
Who started most, Mateo? I know he started off hot and really cratered but doubt they will count on him for anything next year other than a bench role.
They have a younger guy in Romy that already serves the same purpose of "26th man utility player."
Foster, I figured, at the time, would have been non-tendered and signed to a minor league deal though.
