  1. Tucker also only has one year of control. I think they just knew they were going to lose him after this upcoming season.
  2. Using Cam Smith? I could actually see it. Don’t think they’ll do a complete tear down.
  3. I think Cubs just sold Morel when they could and then realized Paredes profile' doesn't fit at Wrigley as a RHH pull hitter. Dude might mash again with that short left field in Houston though.
  4. The OF is still crowded so they will probably dump Bellinger as well to Yankees still.
  5. I'd say a team's #1 draft pick from this past year and a 3B for the next 3 years for a rental is pretty good. Edit: plus another prospect or SP they can plug into their rotation (with some control) right away Edit 2: God damn, guy put a 4.7 WAR season only playing 78 games.
  6. He's a better fit in Houston as a RHH pull hitter and the short LF.
  7. I don't see any reason why they can't rebuild and add short-term (1-3 years) type deals in FA. You at least field a somewhat MLB team and have guys that can either be extended later or traded at some point for more young pieces. Although I guess the time for that would have been last year after the #10 pick was a lock.
  8. Guess he was odd man out with Cole, Fried, Rodon, the RoY Gil, and Stroman.
  9. I haven't seen this. I keep seeing more Cubs smoke on Twitter.
  10. That's fun. I started digging down another rabbit hole last year where I reviewed the payroll from season to season to see what the Sox spent on wastefully that year instead of if they had signed Harper or Machado (starting with 2019). It was frustrating and I quit after a couple of seasons because I didn't even need to pick out who we wasted money on the first couple of years. They would have just easily fit and been well below luxury tax.
  11. Still gotta have a decent one to possibly trade. Especially if you grab a cheap veteran from free agency and hope for a good half season.
  12. Think the poster is referencing this year, not long-term. I will go ahead and guess the closer isn't in the organization yet.
  13. I meant for the Reds to get a little push to make a move for Robert
  14. Yeah I guess I wouldn’t mind the cubs getting him for that reason.
  15. I don't understand how there isn't a work around. Like a team could promise to extend him a huge extension after his first year and no one could really prove that that was agreed to before he signed.
  16. He didn't actually. He was traded during the season before he was a free agent so he wasn't eligible to receive one. It's part of why I liked the idea of signing him a year ago as well to a 1 year/high AAV deal. I feel like he would be a decent buy low, bounce back candidate, especially if you can get something interesting along with him. Would have the benefit of a regular Spring Training as well instead of signing late into March.
  17. I'll pray to God, Baseball Gods, Satan, whoever if I have to.
  18. To help counter service time manipulation. But any team that signs him is going to agree to put him on the OD roster, just like Ohtani.
