  1. As of right now, he's not even going to pitch for the next year and a half though.
  2. Yeah it would shock no one if they were looking to sign him (or any other potential right-handed hitting 4th OF option) but I doubt this guys knows anything.
  3. He's not signing to be a 4th OF and they aren't blocking Colas.
  4. Sosa is still young enough to where I don't want to stick him on the bench quite yet. Rather see him get every day reps in the minors than that. Romy turning 27 late next season is a guy I'd be ok with being an MLB utility player/platoon 2B next year, especially since he has experience all over the field.
  5. He was just out-righted off the 40-man. Don’t think he had enough service time to opt for free agency. You might be thinking of Payton since they were both out righted at same time.
  6. They did lose some guys to minor league free agency (Rutherford, Adolfo). Plus Colas will be promoted. Then Haseley, Payton, Hamilton, Sheets (assuming he’s not on MLB roster in some way for minor league depth).
  7. True. With like a $1M salary if he makes team. One of those handshake agreements where it’s pretty clear he’s going to make it.
  8. I count 38 currently (37 + Benintendi who isn't official yet).
  9. Agreed, but on that point, if he's not returned to form then it is good to have McCann (if he's healthy).
  10. Depending on how much salary you clear (dealing Garcia or Kelly for example) and/or take cash back to even it out, he's a guy who could catch a decent amount. Grandal could still be the starter but you can give him more rest. Plus Grandal can see at bats at DH and 1B every now and then.
  11. He's fighting it though. I read this is part of why the Dodgers aren't throwing around money this off-season because they don't know where they stand at salary-wise. That, and likely wanting to reset the Luxury Tax penalty for a run at Ohtani next off-season.
  12. And it opens up a hole at 3B for the Mets. Unless they wanted to use Guillorme or Baty there.
  13. Maybe not so much a straight platoon but a guy who can fill in on a day where you might have a more favorable matchup. Like sit Benintendi or Colas against a lefty. Edit: plus, I'm sure there's plenty of left-handed bats who struggle against lefties in the MLB that hit well off them in the minors. It's good to have insurance.
  14. As someone who's getting married in June, I get it. I've been trying to cut out stuff I like but realize aren't the best to be eating/drinking. No more craft beers for this guy
  15. We have Benintendi because we didn’t sign Jose. To have both it means they would have dealt Hendriks or someone else and then needing to deal from the 1B/DH depth.
  16. No reason to mess with those guys? These guys continue to miss like half the season.
  17. Compared to the other shortstop deals (besides Turner) I like it.
