I'm not happy with the off-season to this poin but they can still salvage it. I'd probably grade it a D after seeing similar pitchers/players getting lesser deals. Very meh.
Let's see what they do with RF and if they add another SP.
Interesting thing I read the other day about Laureano: since he still has 27 games left of his suspension, he will have 4 years of control left instead of 3 since he won't get service time while being suspended.
Still possible. I know we've been reading they want prospects who are farther away but you still need some players at the MLB level. Maybe they break out and you can flip them in a couple years for guys who fit in the competitive window you are trying to create.
Just breaking it down on a year to year basis. You can also carry the guys in the first group that are signed for mulitple years and then figure in more awful 1 year deals for 2023 that will happen lol
As of right now before seeing the Schwarber deal, Spotrac has them at $176 mill for the luxury tax number. Why not both?
Edit: so just under $20 mill a year (we'll just round up). So $196 mill luxury tax number.
I too saw it somewhere but can't find it. Somewhere here or someone shared it on Facebook.
Either way, a $5.5 guarantee, possibly $9.5 mill.
Edit: nvm I can't find it. I give up lol
