  1. Busch was rotting away on the 40-man. Great opportunity to grab a highly regarded arm.
  2. Great trade for the Dodgers. Didn’t need Busch and don’t immediately need Ferris.
  3. Jerry's old and impatient and the ALC is shitty. They don't have to announce this.
  4. Just saw this now. Less than both MLBTR and Spotrac's projections.
  5. So Cease got less than what both MLBTR and Spotrac projected?
  6. The latest update says "non-40-man players and one is among the better pitching prospects in their system."
  7. Assuming he's at 1B or 3B depending on who they add of Bellinger, Hoskins, Chapman (I feel like they add 2 out of those 3).
  8. I wonder what the Cubs dealt away to get him. Not reported yet. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/cubs-dodgers-discussing-yency-almonte-trade.html
  9. Just don't ask him what the name is of any coaches.
  10. What are the chances that the Sox have a deal offered to them that they would accept, but are waiting on Snell and Montgomery to see if there is a desperation offer from a team out there before accepting? Not saying they have an agreement with a team, but where they can, for example, call the Orioles or Yankees and say "we accept the offer of (insert offer here) from our previous discussions." Because right now, with Cease, they have: Cease Fedde Kopech Soroka Flexen Touki (decent in limited time here, DFA candidate I guess) Scholtens (decent last year in limited time, also DFA candidate when more space is needed I guess due to age and wanting younger options) Shuster (has options so good depth to go back and forth between MLB and MiLB) Woodford (MiLB deal) Kuhl (MiLB deal) And then guys whos should be slated to start in Charlotte where the guys above don't really have enough room to also make starts (but I guess can pitch in relief): Eder Mena Nastrini Burke Thompson It's a lot of options for innings. Just not good options haha
  11. I wish. Getting tired of talking about the same thing for days, weeks and now months.
  12. So the only significant prospect the O’s give up is Cowser and get Cease and Robert ?
  13. I think he was referring to the O's dealing their starting 2B.
  14. I feel like the Sox probably want the best 2 pieces in a deal to be a position player and pitcher. 3rd, and possibly 4th, pieces can be farther away.
  15. I don't know, to me filler wouldn't be guys in the top 10 of a farm system. But I guess that would also depend on the farm (filler from the O's would definitely be outside top 10) IMO.
  16. I don't think he meant "lotto tickets" per se, but I also don't think that means "anyonne outside the top 100." I'm thinking the rest of the package is built with a guy or two from an organizations's 10-30, 15-40 range of a team's sytem.
  17. That's definitely less than some of the deals we talk about here (like Povich as a 3rd piece from O's).
  18. Urias doesn’t really have value. Basically just a throw-in piece.
  19. If Mayo can’t stick at 3B, I don’t really love the fit. Unless he can play an average OF defense.
  20. From what you've heard or just your own speculation?
  21. Yeah, I don’t really like the signings of both Lynn and Gibson. Maybe one as the 5th starter but not both. I’m sure Cubs will be favorites once they add two of Bellinger/Hoskins/Chapman.
  22. They’re probably a contender for their division already. Thats all that matters. Just gotta get in. That division is pretty open, even though I think Cards probably bounce back and win it. Those good organizations don’t stay bad long.
  23. They seem like a team that wants to contend but won’t spend money to do so. The fact he would be in the same spot as Burnes a year later is kind of irrelevant.
