  1. Yep. Only a game back of Tigers. We could be ahead as early as tomorroe night.
  2. Looking at the lineup card, I had completely forgotten that Beckham was with the team. Is he just around to keep Hawk happy at this point or something?
  3. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) But seriously, I'd be extremely happy if the Sox could lock him up for the next decade and a half. I don't see that happening though. Yeah he won't take a team-friendly extension with Boras as his agent and the Sox never give out big contracts to pitchers.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) I think he gets 3 starts. Needs 14 K's per start to get there. Won't happen. He will pass Walsh and get the single-season Sox record, though (barring injury). I agree that he should pitch to contact more. I agree as well.
  5. I don't think you even think about trading Sale until July 2017. If he is pitching like an ace, the Sox are bad and the state of the system is no better than it is now, then I think you have to be realist about dealing him. He'd be more than a rental and would still bring back a lot. Obviously not as much as now since he still has 4 full seasons under his deal. Talk of trading him now is kinda silly (unless we get blown away by an offer).
  6. QUOTE (Saufley @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 06:33 PM) Didn't LaRoche sign a 2 year $25 mil contract? Each year $12.5? 12 this year 13 next
  7. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) lol, we are so much alike. Whenever he gives up a homer or a run scoring hit, my heart starts pounding in agony of what his ERA will rise to. I'm crazy haha. I agree. Its a little strange since he isn't going to win Cy Young award any way.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) Hypothetically, let's say the Sox have a payroll limit of $120 million. If they pick up Alexei and offer arbitration to people, then Samardzija puts them at or above their limit and they have to do the Alexei option right at the end of the season before they know anything about whether he'd accept. That could be a major motivation for them, depending on their forward-looking budget. If their limit is higher, then Samardzija could be "the only thing we do this offseason other than trades". That could also be a major motivation for them. (Personally, if I were in his spot, I think yes I'd accept. If he turns it down, my guess remains that he stays unsigned through June 15). That would be the Sox luck to get nothing for him.
  9. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Yep, and those teams repeatedly destroy Sale because they see him 4-5 times a year each. Sale's ERA would be a full run lower if he was in any other divisions in my opinion Disagree. You're saying that because central teams destroy him more is because they see him more then that would mean if other teams in other divisions saw him that many times, then there is a possibility of him getting hit around in another division.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) I'm aware. He's also constantly battling arm injuries due to his overuse in Japan. He won't last the duration of his contract. You don't think the Sox would have taken better care of him than the Yanks last year? If they were to spend that kinda money on starter from Japan, they'd ease him in and they would be good at it.
  11. He can def do better than (or at least the very same) as Ervin Santana's deal. 4 years/$55 mill is better than 1/17. He's going to reject the QO.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) What college pitcher we taking with our first pick? Any chance we can move some of these college guys to the bullpen? Rather not hurt their value by moving them to pen. Move some in deals for hitting.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) The only difference between Addison Reed and David Robertson is the contract. What has Robertson given up the last two games versus the A's? Seven runs I think I would not have been upset at all if they just let him go to the Yanks back when they claimed him.
  14. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) Pinch running for Flowers there makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. 1. That isn't the tying run. 2. If they do tie it and it goes to extras, who will catch? Soto is the DH today. Rob Brantly
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Better trade our most underrated asset for an absolute haul to fill many holes on a terrible roster. Fixed it for ya.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) At least we get to hear 1,000 questions to Stone during the game. Yes. Gotta love listening to Stone's insight without being interrupted by Hawk constantly.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 05:46 PM) And glad Olt is here to take time from Micah How so? If Olt wasn't playing, you probably see Saladino at third and neither Sanchez nor Micah at short so explain.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) It's not about Melky, more about how LaRoche/Avi failed. Definitely this.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) I'm not sure that's the case, that would open up opportunities for 30 more members. Yeah they'd actually support expanded rosters.
  20. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) get rid of the following - Daniel Webb Avisail Garcia MIke Olt Tyler Flowers Micah Johnson None are MLB caliber players. Flame on... Haha you will def get flamed for saying that about Micah and Avi but I agree with you.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) You really want Maeda for his expected contract after what happened to Tanaka? The overuse of pitchers in Japan is a real problem. He's at 180 1/3 innings pitched now. He may have had an injury at some point this season (I'm not really sure). They (the Sox) can always ease him into it and not have him throw over 200 innings. I also feel like the Sox would have handled Tanaka a lot better than the Yankees did. I was just trying to get creative in adding pitching depth while also acquiring hitting depth (trading Q idea). I know they probably won't sign Maeda though.
  22. My offseason plan: 1. Give qualifying offer to Samardzija 2.Decline Alexei's option (bring him back at like $4mill. $5 mi deal with the 1 mill buyout) 3. Trade Quintana maybe include Avi for a package that includes mlb/near mlb ready young position players (hopefully including a 3B, a C, an OF, and a SP spect) 4. Sign Kenta Maeda if he is posted The rest I'm not really sure on. Rotation of: 1. Sale 2. Maeda 3. Rodon 4. Danks/Fulmer 5. Johnson
  23. QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) All three of these people should never see the field again this year... Good chance 2/3 won't. We have quite a few other guys here who also should never see the field again. Keep playing them...move up in the draft.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) I'm a little surprised they didn't have room for Carroll or Drabek just in case of this. Yeah they should have stacked up the bullpen with a lot of arms. They added what, 3 this month?
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) I'll check back at 10 when it's in the 6th inning... It may not even be the 5th inning at this rate.
