QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:27 AM) Cargo still hot; hit a game winning grand slammer last night (Friday 8/7). They won't give him away. Agree. They'll move him in the off-season for a good package if he stays healthy the rest of the way.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Pods: "Would you turn Sanchez loose here?" Hawk: "Crickets" This broadcast is awful, wow. I didn't think it could get worse than Hawk-Rowand...enter Scotty Pods.
-
Pods: Hawk, you turning Sanchez loose? (Dead air)
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) I think it is $10M, not $15M. Latest update says more than 10 so I'm guessing 15.
-
Indians get: Johnson Braves get: Swisher, Bourn and $15 mill. How come no one can ever help is out?
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) I realize that. And you responded to a message saying "why would the A's or Red Sox have any interest in adding a pendinint not "why would the A's or Red Sox ever put in a claim on a pending FA". Well I guess to help eat innings for their young arms would be a good point at the risk of possibility giving up nothing to get him (which we know the Sox wouldn't give him up as his salary isn't much and only for this year).
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 15-> 01:17 PM) Claiming to block, and claiming to acquire are different things. Obviously the Sox aren't going to just let Shark go for salary relief. I know they won't but that doesn't change anything I said. No risk putting in/winning a claim. The team that wins does not have to have interest in working out a deal.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) Why would hte A's and Red Sox have any interest in adding a pending FA? There would be no comp pick to a team trading for Shark. Pending FA who get traded lose the comp pick. Because thats what teams do. They can put in a claim, win it, and then not pursue a deal blocking other teams from making a play at him. A's or BoSox have nothing to lose doing so.

Step 1: trade Kenny to Toronto for something less ridiculous than O's wanted for their Gm. Step 2: Hire Dave as president of baseball operations. Step 3: profit

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Why is he being passed around MLB teams like the town bike? And his career OPS is not .800, it is .719. The guy has been exposed against righties, he is what he is. He crushes lefties and sits down against righties And that has a lot of value now a days since many teams use platoons.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) Don't really like any of the above, if I had to pick one I'd take Braun, him and Avi can split RF while the other DH's, Napoli is probably my favorite player of the above, but no need now...AJ Pierzynski, Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehera, Martin Prado are all more fitting Marlins had interest in signing LaRoche in the off-season. Prado has one year left on his deal as well. Why not explore a LaRoche (plus a little cash) for Prado? That opens up the DH spot. Prado can replace Bonifacio on the roster (may be an expensive bench piece but his versatility is more valuable than if you were to bench LaRoche like many other people suggest.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 07:18 AM) But he is a placeholder. We eventually need a run producer at 3rd especailly based on 2nd and SS. Saladino and Sanchez can fight out 2nd next year in ST. They both look more like .240 ML hitters w a good to very good glove Sox should give him a shot at short next year. Cheap stopgap at short.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) I missed when Daniel Norris was on the table for Shark. There's a slight difference between Shark and David Price. You never know. Maybe he could have been straight up as opposed to Norris and the other 2 that Price netted. I'm fully confident the offer the Sox had from the Giants was the guy the Reds got for Leake.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) Perfect platoon partner with LaRoche, although not sure if they have the roster spot for 2 DHs He's played 6 positions this year so its not like carrying Konerko and Dunn like last year.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal
Bob Sacamano replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) With Price, Cueto, Kazmir, Leake, Latos as free agents with no draft pick compensation, he may be left waiting til late Jan/Feb to sign a deal. At that point, thats when you go for him when his tag comes down a lot. I also forgot to add Zimmermann and Fister to this list. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) I'd almost start Thompson in RF every day. Platoon Laroche/Garcia at DH. Me too. Watching Garcia try to play outfield and try to hit is a terrible time.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Hope Thompson is starting if RF tomorrow Me too. If he's only coming up to be a backup, he has to take LaRoche's at bats away vs lefties.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) Don't forget Greinke as well as he's expected to opt out of his Dodgers' deal. Greinke is not going anywhere. He will opt out but Dodgers will extend his deal with more money and years. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) How come you guys can't love a pitcher who obviously is making a steady comeback from injury? I'm thinking a lot of you guys dislike him cause of his contract. I'll say it for the 90th time. It's not his fault the Sox paid him that much. And it's not like he's loafed at all coming back. He's a real ballplayer IMO. That injury was 3 years ago guy.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) LMAO. Although I'm the same way with Sale, so I can't really talk. I think being obsessed with Sale is a little different than being obsessed with Danks

White Sox have worked out Eddy Julio Martinez twice or more
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) I know that was what was being said around July 2, and since then I don't think I have seen a single thing said about him. Yeah hard to believe there hasn't been any news on him. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) This year Valencia has played 6 positions, LF more than anywhere else. LF, RF, 3b, 1b, 2b, DH. Can you think of anyone who regularly plays any of those positions who is particularly weak against LHP? Are we carrying anyone who can play multiple positions but who doesn't get used all that much? Seriously. Dump Beckham or Bonifacio and call it a day.
-
How about picking him up to play third? .296/.331/.506 slashline. At the very least, platoon piece at third or DH.
