  1. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) I unfortunately think we will make a big move, but I am not excited about giving up two of our top 15 prospects for a rental. Especially when the Sox are essentially saying this 7-game stretch is more indicative of the real 2015 White Sox than the prior 92-game stretch. I know what you mean man. I could easily see us losing a lot the next 6 series. If we play over .500 during that time, I think we will be legit contenders. Unfortunately, that's too late to sell.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 06:04 PM) I would offer Beck to the Padres and Tigers. First to say yes has a deal. Maybe even up it a little to Davidson Beck
  3. I just want to hear some rumors and names connected to the Sox!
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) That would leave them with Verlander, A.Sanchez, Urias and mystery/mystery for their starting rotation. Of course, if they ended up signing the likes of Greinke or Cueto as a FA, then they'd immediately vault back into discussion as a playoff contender in 2016. You could also see them bringing back Rick Porcello for a "fixer-upper" contract (one year and option) in order to make another run at free agency like Justin Masterson attempted with the Red Sox. Porcello already got a big contract last April. Edit: dunt beat me to it
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 06:00 AM) i can agree with the idea of the cost of prospect being too much, however the sox don't need him for any longer amount of time. the sox need him to add a continuous spark to this hot hitting team to help carry the team into the playoff. Exactly. I wouldn't mind Gomez (or even Reddick) if a deal was centered around Garcia and a pitcher (Adams?). Maybe Hawkins will be ready to take over in 17? He can't be worse than Garcia right?
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Milwaukee wants a big package from what I've seen. Yeah I imagine they'd want one of Wheeler, Syndergaard, Harvey, Matz and de Grom and probably a few in the next tier.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Jim Bowden ‏@JimBowden_ESPN 7m7 minutes ago According to sources there is a third team involved in the Dodgers/Marlins trade which is bigger than being reported Since a Chicago reporter broke the original deal, I gotta assume its us.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) LaRoche was adequate albeit slightly underperforming for the first two months or so and then suddenly just dropped like an absolute rock. Maybe it's injury, maybe it's mental, but something out of the ordinary for sure. Toss him on the dl. Give him 13 more days off to heal.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) So a Chicago Sun Times writer broke a trade story involving LA and Miami. I find that odd too
  10. So they have Crawford, Pederson, Puig, Either, Van Slyke, and now Morse? Gotta figure one of Crawford and Ethier wouldn't be moved (maybe both? ) due to contract, Pederson due to talent, I think they are pretty high on Van Slyke as well. Guess Morse could be traded or released like someone else suggested or Puig gets traded for another pitcher/prospects.
  11. Would have been interesting to see what they would have given up for Samardzija. Comp balance pick plus a pitching prospect? The next 6 series against at .500 or over teams will determine what we should have done this week.
  12. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) That or it signals another deal on the way. Puig perhaps?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Why, they aren't trying to compete this year? They could try for next year and we could take on Prado to offset money. Heard Levine suggest us grabbing Prado as a guy who can be plugged in anywhere to give a guy a day off but also he can start.
  14. Could Marlins be a fit for LaRoche? He is someone they wanted during offseason.
  15. Anyone else think we can make a potential run at the wild card spot even without Shark? If they dealt him for an MLB ready bat (or bat already in the majors with team control), I think Johnson can be solid enough to hold his own.
  16. Sure why not? At the very least, minor league deal so you can have additional lefty in Septemeber when rosters expand.
  17. With two wild card spots, the deadline should be pushed back to mid-August at earliest. I hate that we had this soft schedule right before the deadline. The real test for this team will be the next few weeks against Yanks, TB, KC, LAA.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Let's hope that lost run doesn't end up impacting the final score. Darn, 7-2 would have given the Sox some breathing room, oh well... TB leading the Tigers 4-1, we would go into sole possession of 3rd place but might also push the Tigers to deal Price/Cespedes/Soria, etc. I really don't want the tigers to improve their farm. Cespedes, Price, Soria, Kinsler being available would help their system significantly.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) The Red Sox announcers wondering what's up with the stir the pot thing Melky's doing...he's kind of taken that thing over from Eaton and Beckham and made it his own. Apparently, the Blue Jays have a similar tradition of sorts. I've seen most of our players stir the drink. Not just those 3.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) FWIW, Heyman, Rosenthal, Bowden and O'Dowd just got done discussing Shark, none think he'll be traded, not with the recent surge. Against these crap ass teams...we'll find out over the next two weeks when they play 4 good teams if they made the right decision.
  21. Calling it now: Sox win 3/4 against Boston, stand pat with team, slowly dwindle into last place the weeks following.
  22. We were not going to get Jeff Hoffman for a rental. Maybe Q for a package of prospects including him but not for Shark.
  23. Could it be a tactic to try to get more?
