  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) Matt spiegel reporting shields to Cubs. Can't believe they are going to bank on all these pitchers on wrong side of 30 I don't see anything about the Cubs getting him. There may be speculation but the Cubs are focusing on Tyson Ross it seems, who would be a good get.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) So would I. Fwiw, Alvarez is not a FA until after the 2016 season. I am curious about this though. Alvarez is hitting better than LaRoche which is not saying alot. It must be LaRoche's defense that interest the Pirates since Alvarez is a hack. Damn I thought it was 15 for some reason...I guess I'd still prefer him for a year. Or they find a taker for Alvarez and we give them LaRoche. Edit: he's actually arbitration eligible next season so you could always nontender him if you didn't want him.
  3. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/cole...ice-giants.html In this thread, Stark says Pirates have asked the Sox about LaRoche but since they haven't been able to move Alvarez, no move is likely to happen. I'd take 2 months of Alvarez for 1 year and 2 months of LaRoche.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson going to the Mets. Jazz hands. In-division trades are all the rage. Next intradivision deal: Samardzija to Royals. Calling it
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 11:46 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1h1 hour ago Exec on market: “If you’ve got a hitter, you’ve got gold. If you’ve got a pitcher, you’ve got a hot potato.” Surplus of pitchers available. Tigers can really help their farm system by making a few key guys available (Cespedes, Price, Kinsler, Avila, Davis, Soria)
  6. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 05:50 PM) I assume they trade Shark. I think you trade Q in the offseason where more teams are looking to trade. That would give them the chance to see how Johnson performs in the rotation. It also gives you probably another month to see Rodon and it gives them more time to see Fulmer. then the FO can make a decision if they have enough pitching to trade Q. Anyone can trade for Q now. He's locked up long-term so even teams selling can be interested.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 05:30 PM) Funny you say that.... Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 24m24 minutes ago Sale: "I would love to be on a winning team, but I just want it to be here. I don’t want to go anywhere else.... Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 24m24 minutes ago More Sale: "... I don’t want to be in a different uniform just because they are good now." He's kind of in a position where he needs to say that. Doesn't have any say in the matter.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) Agreed. I want him to retire a White Sox player. He won't. By the time he is a free agent, he can command 30+ mill annually easy if he keeps this up.
  9. I'd be all over a Puig/Pederson, Urias, Seager and another top prospect for Sale move.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) Traded to the Angels for cash Would have liked a player to be named later but oh well.
  11. Does Larry King have any connections with the Dodgers front office? Seems pretty randpm to toss out the Sox as a trade partner.
  12. Levine on the score today said that the Royals are very interested as well.
  13. Get Putnam out there now for the scouts. I think Toronto is looking for relief help.
  14. If they trade Shark for pitching depth, I'm completely open to dealing Q for hitting. You'd keep Sale Rodon Danks in rotation for next season, possibly Fulmer sometime next season or an MLB ready SP from Shark trade or go out and Sig a stop gap mid rotation type.
  15. It also sounds like 3 SD starters are available too (Shields, Ross, Cashner)
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 20m20 minutes ago On value of sandwich pick -- observer thinks 31-40 in 2016 may not yield an impact player but could produce an evday MLBer. Better than '15. Worth noting, definitely interesting to think about. It should be lower than 31 as guys will give up first rounders to sign guys.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Conversely, I'd be very pissed if this is all they got for Shark and Alexei. I looked up Diaz and I agree with you.
  18. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 10:27 AM) I definitely like your idea of linking Alexei and Samardzija together. I just can't see the White Sox taking his $11 million option. I can see them signing Alexei to a 1 year $4 million deal if they truly feel Anderson isn't ready OR they can't improve this position via a separate trade. I'm ok with him coming back cheap, but I'd also be ok if they let Saladino play short next season as a stopgap.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) Way too many Cardinals fans at these games Whatever helps fill our seats
  20. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) Maybe Sox get Cano as PTBNL....................................... It would have to be a 3-team deal as Cano doesn't play for the Rockies.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) It is that time of the year again where nobody cares about the games because we suck and all we care about is the trade deadline and all the speculation Yes Over/under 9.5 pages in this thread?
  22. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) From what Peter Gammons wrote yesterday, it sounds like the four prospects that Dodgers will not trade in a rental are Barnes, Urias, Seager, and Jose DeLeon. They like Barnes a lot and have and have moved him around the IF to build up some positional flexibility to play 2B and 3B. They are giving him a test out at C now and I would not be surprised to see them sell high on Grandal rather than moving Barnes. I really wanted Grandal the past two off-season because he felt like the type of player they could use. High obp, switching hitting catcher whos young.
  23. Plays like that from Reynolds is why they might be a fit for Laroche
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) So I'll just say this once and you can trash me for it. I'd remove Robertson. Take best available offer and clear out that contract. Goal: something similar in value to a 2nd round pick. Agree 100%. In the off-season, I didn't want the Sox to sign any reliever to a lot of money. Then they signed Robertson for a lot and then I kind of figured "Well now that he's here, I won't complain as long as he's getting the job done." He's doing his job but it would be nice to clear his salary and potentially receive something for him. He's got what, 3/36 left on his deal?
