QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) I'm sorry, but I must have missed something. How did we get Kemp, and still have Alexei? Yep I posted that before I realized Kemp's 2014 wasn't injury prone. Kemp was very good haha Alexei definitely goes in a deal

QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) His 2nd half splits are sexy as funk. Again, MVP level. And he's just 30. It's gonna take Lexi+ but I really think it'd be worth it. You think if we deal Alexei plus for Kemp we could grab another prospect as well?
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 12:57 PM) I'm really hoping it's Kemp. Crawford/Eithier are good players but not something to get overly excited about. Kemp however would make me real excited. If he stays healthy he has a chance to play at an MVP level. Eaton-Semien-Abreu-Laroach-Kemp-Gillaspie-Garcia-Flowers-Sanchez/Johnson/Saladino (Assuming it takes Lexi+ to get him) would be pretty damn sexy. Esp. if Semien can finally figure it out at the big league level and starts getting on base more consistently. I just looked over Kemp's numbers from last season and didn't realize he did that great. I thought he was hurt for parts of the season but he played in 150 games apparently. Bring me Kemp. I also wouldn't mind Abreu Kemp LaRoche Garcia Gillaspie 3-7

Always sucks that finals week in school is during the same week as the Winter Meetings...so hard to focus with so many rumors going on. At least all my finals fall on Monday morning and Tuesday.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) It could very well be Matt Kemp. I find it interesting that the Sox put Saladino on the 40 man roster considering they have Sanchez and Semien who are capable of playing SS. Put it this way. The thought of the Sox 3,4,5 hitters being Abreu, LaRoche, Kemp would be a good explanation for Kenny being excited. I know I would be excited. That's a potentially lethal combo right there, just absolutely deadly. I would be excited with that 3-4-5. Would cost less too I'm sure as they would love to get rid of his contract (and we have room to take it). What do you think it would take to get Kemp, assuming we are willing to take on the full contract to give up lesser talent?
-
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Sweaty Freddy Garcia is the only one I can think of to be honest. Won't that cost the Sox even more prospects? I'm no baseball analyst or anything, I just can't see a matchup with the Braves. Yeah I'm pretty much grabbing straws here...I just can't think of any other impact players that could possible be coming here that are available.
-
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) The Sox are not the kind of team that pays heavily on one year rentals. I doubt very seriously the Sox are after Upton. Not trying to poo poo on the idea, it just doesn't seem very realistic. What about an extended deal where we get one of their young RH SP as well? (Teheran, Miller, Beachy, Medlen (though I think the last 2 are hurt to start the year) since they also have the lefties Minor and Wood in the rotation along with some prospects)
-
Anyone think it could be for Justin Upton? Seeing as though he is available and would be a great addition to the middle of the lineup. What do you guys think it would take? Hawkins, one of Danish and Montas and a second baseman to replace La Stella (who was penciled in to start there but was traded)?
-
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 22, 20. -> 10:46 AM) All depends on Kemp's outlook after being traded. Would he whimper and whine like a Lil b**** after being traded or would he see the positives of hitting in a lineup of Eaton, Alexei, Abreu, LaRoche, Kemp. He would be a damn blind fool if he does not see the potential there. The problem with taking on Kemp's salary is you can forget about signing a good solid RH pitcher for the rotation unless the Sox expand the current payroll expectations. Danks and Viciedo could likely be gone too. Eaton CF Ramirez SS Abreu 1B/DH LaRoche DH/1B Kemp LF Gillaspie 3B Garcia RF Flowers C Semien/Sanchez/Johnson 2B Rotation: Sale Quintana RH SP Noesi Filler until Rodon comes up (maybe a high upside arm in a Viciedo deal?)
-
If Nieto was going to be the started and we didn't have Flowers I would say yes as a mentor but this isn't the case.
-
What do people on here think it would take to get Justin Upton? Not saying we should just curious.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 0won) Way too expensive for on the job training at $100 million or so. They're taking the smarter approach...allocating the money across five players instead of just one or two. It won't drive pre-season sales as much as a big splashy signing but it will lead to a better overall team imo. Tomas might possible take a 4/5 year deal (which won't be over 100) so he can enter free agency at 28/29 and have a chance at at a 6-7 year deal
-
Viciedo has to go
-
QUOTE (palehose23 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 09:02 PM) Then you want the Sox to trade Jose Quintana then, right? http://www.sbnation.com/hot-corner/2013/8/...-ped-suspension Along with Flowers, Nieto, and Rienzo to name a few others...
-
Sox are never going to sign anyone that makes the fans happy. Everyone will b*tch that whoever they sign is almost 30 (even though you don't see too many mid-20s players hit free agency) or b*tch about how much they're getting paid.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) I think people forget how young Viciedo still is, he sure does have room to improve to reach his ceiling. He comps pretty well to how players like Bautista and Ortiz did through their age 25 seasons in a time where offensive production has regressed. There is still so much raw talent in that bat, I would hate to give it up only to see it get put together someplace else. I understand I am in the minority here as many have moved on from Viciedo, but I still have hope that he can put things together. He has shown flashes, periods of time where his bat is dominant, but unforunately not very consistently and not as often as you would like, but I still have hope for him. So that being said, I would need a very interesting return to trade him, not a backup C with no real upside. I would take another change of scenery candidate or quality player that fills a hole along with a low level prospect. I think they could get another upside type player for him. Maybe a young starter or reliever or 2
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) I'm okay with it, assuming he comes in around $12m per year. He's a solid bat that can partake in a rotating rest-the-corners DH situation, and he can DH more often if his age begins to diminish his defense. And, for now, he'd represent a defensive UPGRADE in the corners. Yeah definitely would rather see him go after fly balls than Viciedo or Garcia

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 09:00 AM) http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-he...r-melky-cabrera Thoughts? I like it

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Oh he did have another one? Wow, i didn't see that. My apologies board. No worries. I thought the same at first, but after doing some digging I noticed that he hasn't even pitched since 2012 and that he had his third TJ surgery fairly recent.
-
Just had his third TJ surgery...pass
-
Considering people here want to non-tender Viciedo, I would take Navarro for him at least.

White Sox sign Zach Duke, 3 years, $15 million

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) Yes and if not please leave the site. Hey Rock! Do you know of any other possible Sox rumors that you can fill us in on? -
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) Here's another way to look at it... Noah Snydergaard, ranked #10 over all by MLB. Corey Seager, ranked #13 over all by MLB. Julio Urias, ranked #14 over all by MLB. Jock Pederson, ranked #15 over all by MLB. Carlos Rodon, ranked #19 over all by MLB. Would anyone on this board be willing to trade Carlos Rodon for Alexei Ramirez? I know i sure as f*** would not so what makes people think Alexei should bring back a player ranked even higher? Its a ridiculous notion! Alexei does not have the perceived valued most think he has. Sorry, that's just the way it is. The Sox are by no means desperate to trade Alexei but if he's ever to be traded, now is the time. Going by the rumors the sox dont have to shop Alexei so as long as a team offers value ( not percieved fan value) then take it and move on as long as the return can at least help the 2016 team if not the 2015 team. With as many holes there are to fill I don't buy into the Sox contending in 2015 bs either. 2015 will be a year of making more progress and exposing what holes are left before the 2016 team emerges ready to contend. 2015 would be a great year to get Rodon and Bassitt acclimated to the MLB as well as increasing their IP so that hopefully in 2016 they can give the Sox 180+ IP. If indeed they have a future in the rotation. To be fair though, we also do not have as much depth. Other than Rodon, Johnson, Anderson, Hawkins, Danish, and Montas (few of those guys kinda far away and no one really blocking them on MLB roster anyway like the LA situation), there isn't a whole lot to get excited about prospect wise.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) If Alexei gets moved to the Dodgers you can bet your ass we're getting Kemp back somehow. When Hahn says he wants a LH middle of the order bat he isn't screwing around. Wish Kemp wasn't such a lousy fielder. A move will be coming wether it's soon or later that will convince one and all that Hahn is serious about contending this year and trading Alexei doesn't suggest otherwise. Kemp isn't left-handed
-
How about: Sox get: Kemp legit prospect Dodgers get: Danks long term salary relief
