  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) 8. Padres 73-84 9. Tigers 73-84 10. White Sox 74-83 11. Mariners 75-83 Rajai Davis bunted on his own in the 9th in a 7-6 game, with runners on 1st and 3rd and 1 out. Popped out. Playing for that 8th pick I guess haha I hope the Sox are 1.5 games up over the Tigers in the reverse standings so if we win 2/3, we still finish ahead.
  2. If 1.5 years of Samardzija (along with a half season of Hammel) got Addison Russell and Billy McKinney, then 5 years of Quintana should command the world. Aim for 2 MLB everyday players with success and 3+ years of control each or a package of 3 position player top prospects near MLB-ready and a top pitching prospect.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Sure seems like he's won himself a starting spot for next year Guy can run, play defense and take a walk. I definitely would put him ahead of Avi. I haven't completely given up on Avi yet though. Would like to see him DH to get him out of the outfield and out of the 3-5 spots (hit him 6 or 7, hopefully a new 3B can hit in the middle of the order with Cabrera back in the 2-spot and Abreu third).
  4. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) can you believe KW said he was going to be a 300 hitter/ 30 hr/ 30 SB guy? And actually toyed with the idea of him playing center? Come to think of it, I think he did play a few games out there for us in 2013
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) It will be very interesting to see when the league decides he is eligible. If they don't make him eligible early 8 big spenders can't sign him. Cubs, Dodgers, Giants and Royals who exceeded their limits this year and Angels, D-backs, Rays, Red Sox and Yankees who got the max penalty of 2 years of not signing anyone for over $300,00 for 2 years. If they make him eligible soon as they can the Cubs Dodgers Giants and Royals will all still be eligible. Sox really have no reason not to go all out next summer. Hopefully there are some 19/20 year old Moncada types somewhere.
  6. QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) If Phegley ever has another year half as good as this one I'll eat my hat. Semien is still the only guy I'll miss from that deal - and I'll miss him plenty. -I agree with this. Phegley is putting those numbers up on their bench - very similar to Soto's -Bassitt I doubt turns into much of anything. Probably 5th starter or reliever (probably a swing guy) and we got an arm back for him who will probably be a reliever (Ynoa) so that part is meh -Ravelo had no spot as Abreu is at first and has only played like 50 games this year As long as our compensation pick is solid, I'd say it was worth it. But that's just my opinion personally.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) That wouldn't be good from a draft/slot allowance perspective. With Rodon not pitching the rest of the way, I'm cool with the Sox losing every game the rest of the way 9-8 with Sale and Q staying healthy and Abreu/Eaton/Trayce/Sanchez/Avi hitting well. We're 4 games behind the Marlins who have been better lately and play the Rays and Phillies this week. They'd need to win every game and Sox would have to lose every game to finish with the 7th pick. It certainly is possible but I think the Sox will finish with 8th pick.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) This is the most realistic thing I have seen. I agree. Depending on what they do at third, I see this team finishing with a top 10 draft pick for 2017.
  9. With Martinez not signing yet, does anyone think that he may have a hand-shaken agreement with a team to wait until next summer to sign so a team can sign him and a bunch of others without the bigger market teams able to make signings? Obviously he'd have to be promised a lot to put off signing that long but I also feel like he should have signed by now so who knows.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Yeah, as much as I love baseball I lost interest in September for sure. Once you KNOW your team is out of it it does change things, for me at least. I need meaningful baseball. Agree. And before these past few years, we were fortunate enough to watch them playing meaningful games for a while (minus 2011 and 2007 really). These meaningless games in September (heck even August and July and even sooner when you know they are bad and not going anywhere) are getting tiresome and hard to support.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) I was thinking Rodon would take Shark's spot. Back to the days of having a crappy rotating #5 starter! Huh? Rodon is already in the rotation lol Johnson is likely replacing Samardzija in the rotation.
  12. QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) Well the only way to acquire better hitters overnight without trading away pitching would be to sign free agents. Go get Cespedes, Zobrist, Heyward or someone else. I doubt they sign any of those guys. I also doubt they move any of our prospects worth a damn for any hitters. Don't really know how we are going to fill the many holes we have in the lineup.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) i really do understand that, but if this season is a result of his now playing stats.... and with his agent. i really don't want to see the sox be laiden contract that they will not can move. no thanks If it wasn't for Boras I'd think there was a chance he'd take a one-year deal somewhere to rebuild value but like I said Boras is his agent.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) was really against this option for 2 reason. i am still questioning his ability to perform as he has in the past and his agent will want a 5 yr contract at least. Sox were in on a McCann a few years ago. Granted he has a better track record than Wieters, but I can see them being in on him too if there is no QO attached to his name.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Rodon and Trayce.....two reasons I'm tuning in. Cheers to that
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/09/heym...medium=facebook The fans were disappointed too besides the ones who actually believed in that pre-deadline winning streak.
  17. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) I'd trade Beck or another fringy pitching prospect for him. They need pitching, the Sox need hitting. It would help both sides. Yeah these are the kinds of moves the Sox will probably aim to make this off-season. Not trading away our good players on the MLB roster, holding onto the few good prospects we have and not spending in free agency.
  18. What about Christian Villanueva? He's a Cubs 3B prospect that no none talks about anymore but is having a solid season with 20 homers, ~.750 ops. Probably wouldn't cost anything relevant or maybe he is Rule 5 eligible this off-season and we can snag him that way (if he's not already on the 40-man roster).
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) You guys remember when Hector Santiago was an allstar this year and a bunch of people said that was an awful trade for Hahn. Lol @ those people. Let's just be happy we didn't get the worst part of the deal (Trumbo).
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) I think LaDunn may be offensive to Dunn. At least he hit homers. He had an awful 1st year with Sox but he made an All Star team in his 2nd season. That is true. I've honestly thought a few times this season "I'd rather have Dunn at this point." He'd have at least 20 homers with a .220 avg.
  21. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Sale is a once in a generation type talent and I am proud that he is a member of the White Sox. Now please surround him with better talent so that he can be in the postseason in a White Sox uniform. Agree. We have him under control for four more years so it has to happen at some point in that time, right?
  22. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) Not to mention Alexei and Melky at .282/.331/.444 and .297/.339/.479 respectively. In all likelihood all three of those guys will be on the team next year so they should all still see substantial playing time. I think Robin has done a pretty decent job getting all of the young players in the lineup. He's given a substantial number of at bats to Saladino, Olt, Johnson and Thompson over the last few weeks. Definitely easy to do when LaDunn isn't playing clogging up the DH spot.
  23. Since it seems that right-handed hitters don't have extreme split stats against right-handed pitchers while left-handed hitters have extreme splits against lefties (so it seems), wouldn't it make more sense to try to load up on right-handed hitters than left-handed?
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) Yes. Braves are supposedly loading up on the 2016 class. Already have agreements in place for next year. Might as well go all-in next summer then if Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers can't spend
  25. Aren't there a lot of teams that spent over the cap this year and last year to the point where there aren't many teams that can sign International youngsters for next period? If so, Sox should spend a LOT then. Although I wouldn't complain if they went out and got this kid and EJM now
