I think you gotta stick with Caleb through at least his 2nd contract. We all agree we got the coach, right? He should get the best out of Caleb then. Imagine cutting bait on him and then he goes to Tampa or Minnesota and finally comes into his own like Baker or Darnold. Gotta have patience with these young guys. QB is one of the toughest jobs in sports.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
Southwest Sider replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A lot of dead horses to beat when it comes to JR and his tenure. A few for me that stand out the most are: -Not doing what it takes to bring in Miguel Cabrera. Everyone KNEW that that dude was a total stud. We didn't because we didn't want to take Dontrelle Willis? FFS you do what it takes to get one of the best hitters of all time on your team. Instead he went their direct rival the Tigers and tortured us for the rest of his career. -Not doing what it took to bring in Machado and/or Harper. "The money will be spent", but never was, and we watch them both have nice careers at bargain value contracts nowadays. It was time to add to that team but we didn't. It likely failed anyway but that's when I knew this would be the same old s%*#. Hahn was given the autonomy to try out a rebuild but could only pay top of market free agent contracts to relievers. -Not investing in a top notch Minor League system and scouts. At the very least if you're going to be a cheap asshole, invest in your minor leagues and make sure you get the most out of the young players you bring in. So we couldn't even be like Tampa Bay. -Shitting on the idea of signing Ohtani. Yes, of course he wasn't going to come here. But for f*** sake JR at least had the ability to see that signing Jordan to insane (especially at the time) 1 year deals was worth it because paying for a guy like Jordan pays dividends. Ohtani would have paid handsome dividends as well. JR should know what it's like to have one of the GOATs in his organization and laughing at the idea of Ohtani was just pathetic and frankly, shows a lacking of business acumen. Then again, didn't Mike have to get the Knicks involved before JR finally ponied up? LOL -Not doing what it took to bring in Lebron his first go around as a free agent. -Tony La Russa There's plenty more. -

Is baseball fun again? -
Lmao if we couldn't stomach Machado at 300m no way we're going after Soto. The deals guys are going to be getting now gonna make Harper and Machados seem like bargains.
-
I hope they addressed not only Tyrique Stevenson's hail mary problem but also being a guy who tries to poke people through their mask. He got what he deserved. It's just sad it was at the Bears expense. That poking people through the mask s%*# should have been shut down the first time it happened. I know its been at least 2 times now he did that. I was onboard with giving Eberflus this year but now I am good with moving on.

LMAO if Soto gets even 500m how dumb does it look we didn't even try for Machado or Harper. They'd be asking for 500-700 now. Soto won't get 700 because he's not also a pitcher. Insane ask and I'd be willing to bet he ends up in the 400-450 area at most. 500 if the Dodgers or someone insane gets involved.

I'm out of patience. It's all the same s%*#. They're gonna get DJ Moore killed as well.

I'm over here laughing that the Sox and Cardinals brought in the Dodgers because they couldn't link up on prospects and then cards got him basically for free. Amazing. The Cards actually out there telling Chris he can't have any of their prospects for a very serviceable pitcher and he caved. Almost like the Baltimore fans coming in here saying we can't have any of their top 5 for Cease. Probably the Os GM said the same stuff to Getz. Pathetic. I blame Jerry for this. Every GM on the sun knows Getz is in the worst position possible because his owner is a POS and also new to the job and are raking him over the coals. Even an idiot like Hahn was able to extract exciting value (at the time) for guys like Eaton, Sale and Quintana. Getz is cooked man. Launch this franchise into the sun.

Cease has no hitter going into 8th vs. WSH
Southwest Sider replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thorpe is the key. If he can be about as good as Cease, it's a win for us since we control him for longer. Any of the other prospects panning out would make it very much a W for us. -

Not worth any of their top 5. We all said how ridiculous that was at the time. Now it rings even truer. Their loss. -

Apparently he was one the top 2 most important players for Iowa. If he's as good as advertised and able to constantly pin teams behind the 10, then this is actually an incredible pick that should pay massive dividends for the defense. -
