  1. Whether or not the Sox sign Wheeler, getting out in front of the market was the correct strategy. Being the market maker and aggressive on the players you identified is a great way to approach an offseason as opposed to last years debacle. Granted, last years debacle was due in large part to who they were represented by, as well. Even if Wheeler signs today, I doubt Cole signs before the New Year.
  2. KW flopping his nuts on the table with his quotes to Jeff Passan. Lol, typical KW.
  3. Keep him for depth unless he's a part of a MAJOR trade.
  4. At least the Hawks look like they may be turning this winter around. At +4000 to win the cup, +2000 for the conference and +2500 for the division, those could be interesting bets. If they keep playing like this, those numbers certainly get lower.
  5. I mean I imagine if we did trade for Betts that the Sox would be aggressive in trying to get him signed long term. That year or so of exclusive negotiation time is worth something since you don't compete with everyone else. Indeed, it's risky because there's a damn good chance he wouldn't sign. But it is bold.
  6. I could go for a juicy "Red Sox asking price isn't ridiculous, White Sox are sniffing around" rumor. ?
  7. I don't know why Betts would need to test FA if he gets offered a mega contract. If he enjoys himself here and the Sox blow his socks off with a deal, why not sign it? It definitely appears to be a trend in this league now for teams and players to negotiate extensions that players are happy enough taking instead of testing FA. Why go through a long, drawn out, stressful FA process for maybe a few million more if some team is offering a Harper or Trout type deal? But I just don't see the 3 keys to this deal even being possible 1) Red Sox motivated to trade Mookie instead of other pieces 2) Red Sox ok accepting marginal prospects for Mookie 3) White Sox willing to give out a contract between Harper and Trouts
  8. Imagine needing to cheat against the 2017 White Sox. ?
  9. What a team effort. At least we all know they're pulling from the same rope.
  10. Random story that probably no one will read: August 2018. Fall semester about to begin, commute of 45 minutes each way. Had a pretty nice 07 Mazda6 with only like 80k miles. Had it parked outside my residence, boom, someone rammed into it and it was a total loss. Decided to go ahead and take the insurance money, do a little loan and grab a '14 Mazda3 that had only 23k miles on it for a decent deal (for a dealership lol). Made it through the year. Fast forward Labor Day 2019. Someone hits my car in the rear, again while it is parked. Damage is somewhat minimal and car is driveable, but the person who hit me had garbage insurance and the process is quite drawn out and incomplete. Fast forward to early October. Car is again, parked, this time at school. Someone rams into the front of it and pushes it half a parking spot. Laugh out loud. WTF? Weird ass luck. The combination of both damages make it a total loss. Got a pretty decent check for it as it still only had 41k miles on it. Gonna try a Civic Si this time. Wish me better luck.
  11. He will probably be released by Boston before the offseason is over.
  12. Hopefully Scherzer is feeling better and will get a chance to pitch. I can't imagine how shitty it feels to be their best pitcher and not able to contribute.
  13. I miss the Warthogs name more than I'll miss the Intimidators. Dash
  14. In general, I agree that they should aim higher for RF. I guess it's possible that Menechino told the FO that he thinks he can get Ozuna back to his 2017 levels. Apparently he gets a lot of credit for Stanton, Yelich and Ozuna. I'd still be wary of a long term deal, but if he's going 2-3 years, wants to work with Menechino because he thinks he can get to his 2017 numbers and keep him there, it might be worth a shot. He is only 28, after all.
  15. Thanks for correcting my mistake guys, obviously my memory is foggy and because of lack of research, didn't know exactly what was up. Cheers. Hopefully they can turn this thing around.
  16. I don't think you're going to find a QB in season who will give you significant improvement. Everyone involved has the rest of this year to figure it out, for me. There's not much else they can do. This is the bed they have made. If Mitch can't start showing some signs of being a good QB this year, then you have to take a hard look at Pace or whoever the actual fuck wanted him so bad that they had to trade up to get him. It's a serious offense of talent evaluation because you HAVE to be right on the money there. They stuck their entire future to this guy and if he flames out there's gonna be some heads rolling at Halas Hall. We're all sick of the cute shit where people think they know more than the rest of the league. It was basically common knowledge that Mahomes and Watson were the the top 2 QBs in the draft. I'm not plugged in that much, but I knew their names. When the show showed Trubisky as the pick I wondered who the hell he even was? It's a damn cute pick, thinking we're smarter than everyone and we found out that Mitch is not just the best QB in the draft, but the best one by a LANDSLIDE.
  17. Things are deteriorating very quickly... was Nagy truly a prodigy of Andy Reid? He seems like a really good guy, but the pressure cooker is going to be turned up to the highest level now. How will he handle it? Last season was a fairy tale for him with fans and media but they all turn very, very quickly. He built up some trust, and we all trusted what the coaching staff said that things will be fixed. But, a game or 2 more like this and he will have lost all the trust. It's really a shame because he seemed like a great match for us. But how much of it is on him? I realize the play calling was absolute trash. They can't abandon the run game like that. Mitch Trubisky is not Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady who can single handedly take over a game. If his passing game is going to work, it needs to be built off of a strong run game so that they can incorporate successful play action. It almost seems like they want to build the passing game first but if that's the case then you need to add in some draw plays, right? Are the X's and O's of this team a product of bad coaches or coaches who know that their personnel is trash and trying to put together something that will work? They have almost no tight end and on most plays the O-line is just getting wrecked. Tarik Cohen has been hot garbage all year, Anthony Miller sucks. I mean, it really doesn't seem like the players are giving the coaches much to work with! If this season keeps heading in this direction, management is going to have to make some tough decisions about some of these offensive players. As much as his play has been bad, I don't think I can blame this whole thing on Trubisky. Obviously, he's still young and making mistakes of his own but it's not like he's getting much help from anyone not named Allen Robinson and occasionally Taylor Gabriel. With that in mind, I would really like to see if he can develop when he's actually surrounded with some talent or better coaching or whatever. The same thing applies to Nagy, in my mind. Even if this year ends up a disaster, you have to try to put together a better group of offensive players to see if it's really coaching or not that's the problem.
  18. Nah, I mean a better representative than the Twins.
  19. Sports are fun and all but if I were you I'd try to find some other hobbies where your mood cannot be affected by the outcome of games or how teams are managed. Believe me, we're all as frustrated as you are that our teams are like this. But there's got to be a more positive thing you can do for your psyche then stew about it on message boards. Like Sunday, Bears lose, that effin blows. In my younger years I may have b****ed on message boards but now it's just on to the next thing for that day. I enjoy good sports conversation, hence why I am here, but there's no sense at all allowing festering negative thoughts to be shared unless you have to absolutely get it off your chest. Which shouldn't be necessary for something as trivial as sports games.
  20. The AL Central needs a better representative. Time for the Sox to step up. At their best, I know they won't lay down and die when they play the Yankees.
  21. Wtf y'all find something better to do with you lives than being meatballs bickering on a message board. Bears lost a game they should have won. They aren't as good as they should be. Packers are killing it this year. Bears have an uphill battle. We will see what they're made of now. If it doesnt work out, tough shit, what else are you used to?
