  1. White Sox, as always, weren't willing to accept the risk of his year 9 and 10 contract years in order to get the player during the best of times. Just like they couldn't accept taking on Dontrelle Willis with Miguel Cabrera. Wasn't it fun watching Miggy torch us every year due to that complete short sightedness? I gave them the benefit of the doubt back then, but now the pattern seems far too obvious. A bad season of expensive DTrain wouldn't have come close to offsetting Miggys value. Just like Machados final 2 seasons would not offset the extreme value he provides in his prime years.
  2. This, or if Boras calls you and says "we will sign for X"...
  3. I didn't read the article, but I really don't understand Cub fan frustration that their team didn't spend more money this offseason. Sure, you can argue they spent money foolishly, but at least they went and got players that they identified as necessary for their team. At least the Cubs spent a shitload of money before finally crying poor. We have every right to complain though.
  4. Bryce Harper will take the offer of whoever offers the most money, as Manny did and as most big time free agents do and especially Boras free agents. If that happens to be the White Sox, he will 100% sign. It's part of his responsibility to his peers to take the highest offer. Will it be the Sox? Well I agree with you there. I'd be absolutely floored if that happened.
  5. Y'all fucking relax and let the cards fall where they may.
  6. Didnt Youkilis kill the ball for awhile after we acquired him?
  7. Personally, its sign Harper or bust. Disillusionment is an understatement. The only way they could fix it is if player development really turns a corner and develops not just Eloy, but Moncada and others into true studs. That fix requires time, time where a LOT of us will be in Sox limbo. The easy fix is to just go get Harper, give us the big FA we were seemingly promised. That adds a new level of excitement to the rebuild.
  8. Soxtalk tournament for sure. Im no good but ill throw my hat in for fun.
  9. The Sox need to be the team that gives Boras and Harper a deal theyd say okay to today. They need to be the team that makes the other teams say "no thanks" to topping that offer.
  10. Yes. This. I know who I trust and I know who I don't. Reasonable people can reach the same conclusions. I go back to the idea that everything is always fluid. This was talked about more earlier this offseason, but still rings true today. Machado was a fluid situation again as soon as SD entered the game. The narrative that Harper is still a Sox target makes too much sense. I hope that its true and they convert.
  11. It's really a lot of fun! My favorite is recreating armies from the corpses of the dead. There's a really fun skeleton end-game build, too.
  12. I understand your frustration, but these people aren't complete rando's like JMR and peavy44 etc. These are generally well respected members of this forum who are trusted to not be idiots who make stuff up for attention. Their behavior in not looking for attention speaks volumes. Then, when a bunch of pissed off people want to take their anger out on them, you think they should continue to explain themselves? These people wouldn't listen to them if they explained themselves anyway.
  13. I played 1000+ hours on PC on one character alone. I guess I was a bit of a Demon Hunter freak. I dabbled with others, too, but not to that degree. I felt it was a no brainer to get it on Switch too, especially when it was on sale. I have a nice, shiny Necromancer now Let me know when you're ready to start Nephalim Rifts/bounties and set gear hunting. The game you're playing now is great, the end game is even better IMO.
  14. I play both. I'm assuming you mean D3 on the Switch. When I get a chance, we can exchange friendcodes. How you likin D3?
  15. Appreciate the comments. I'll be telling Anders to give you a raise the next time I see him. ?
  16. Let's get this thread to 1000 pages of disappointment, lock it up, and throw away the key.
  17. I mean, if you're arguing that the Sox would not be in on Manny if it reached the bottom of Harpers range, don't you have an argument that they didn't misplay their hand and simply followed their framework? I guess you could say they misplayed their hand for Manny, but I don't know if there was a way to lock him up earlier for anything under what the Padres eventually gave to him. If you're suggesting that Sox will be in on Bryce because they have a higher valuation of him than what Manny got, that's fine. Stick to your guns. In that situation, it doesn't appear the totality of the offseason hand has been completely misplayed yet. I want to believe that this FO isn't completely inept... ?
  18. Break down the big myth then, Rick. Will you do what it takes to bring in a premium talent?
  19. I think he danced around the "did you have a chance to counter" question.
  20. He explained that traditional opt outs are very player beneficial but have gravitated towards more balance for both parties lately. To me, it sounded like they aren't against them at all.
  21. Can you imagine that being a Sox leak to see how everyone reacted? Lol "Let's just see...." 1 minute later. "...Yeah... bad idea."
  22. Signing Harper nips this PR disaster in the bud, and eliminates the lens that the White Sox will be viewed under due to not ponying up for Machado. Boras has the Sox exactly where he needs them. He reads Twitter. He's got JR by the balls, and the fans don't give a shit. They'd happily see JR lose a negotiation for once and get their player. Thats the price you have to pay for the best players.
  23. If he's smart, he will offer what it takes to get Harper, with a 5 year opt out. Gotta build some trust in this fanbase... it should be worth way way much more than any perceived overpayment for Harper's services.
