  1. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 28s28 seconds ago Want to make this clear: #Nationals are not out on Sale. But #RedSox appear stronger at moment.
  2. Please no JBJ..... I want younger players with less service time....
  3. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 52s52 seconds ago Chisox asked for benintendi, as everyone has (bos wants to keep). Chisox likes Jackie bradley Jr. Very much, and others
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) Always thought Astros would be in, but hey, we are now where I wanted us to be except no Dodgers. I'm surprised they're not in the thick of this. Or, maybe they are and are keeping it quiet. Doubtful, though.
  5. Mark Zuckerman ‏@MarkZuckerman 2m2 minutes ago And yes, if #Nats do acquire Chris Sale, it opens the door for Gio Gonzalez to be dealt. But latter doesn't happen before former does.
  6. QUOTE (ChicagoHeel @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1m1 minute ago Sources: #RedSox remain strongly in mix for #WhiteSox’s Sale, along with #Nationals. Mark Zuckerman ‏@MarkZuckerman 4m4 minutes ago Mark Zuckerman Retweeted Ken Rosenthal Boston always figured to be the most serious pursuer of Sale along with #Nats...
  7. Mark Zuckerman ‏@MarkZuckerman 6m6 minutes ago Sense here this morning is #WhiteSox are comfortable dragging out Sale talks, want to see if any other clubs can top #Nats offer. Yup.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) I was thinking its because the two teams are still discussing. The Thornburg post said something along the lines of it being a sure thing. Even if they are just discussing, what's the motivation to delete info you have received? If I were a source and I leaked that info, I wouldn't delete the info nearly 2 hours later unless I either found out it was complete BS, or if my "insider" told me to remove the info or something along those lines.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) He deleted it so I am guessing he found out it was BS. I was thinking either that, or his source told him to remove the info? I mean, why would he be getting good info about the Thornburg trade and then bad info about a Sale push. I think the source maybe had to backtrack a little bit because this wasn't supposed to be leaked.
  10. Apparently the guy who broke the Thornburg trade has some info about a potential framework with the Red Sox for Sale. This is the link that was provided but the "source" edited his post to remove the info: http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/view...c&start=570 We're left with either a rumor that was BS, or a rumor that he was told to delete because it wasn't supposed to be leaked. I'm hoping for the latter, because anything that's not supposed to be leaked by another team should only help our team in negotiations. Let this rumor be spread!!!
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Red Sox getting in play makes this much more fun. Yeah I'm looking forward to a thread that explodes like this, but for the Red Sox instead...
  12. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) The White Sox say they're still having trade talks with several teams about Chris Sale and no deal with Nats or anyone expected tonight -- nightengale OK we can go to bed now.
  13. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) If deal gets done means #Nationals moved off elite ready-now youngster like Trea Turner and decided to do best package available https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/805966664600846336 Think he means White Sox move off that package? If so, more reverse posturing!!!
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) An exec from another team that has pursued Sale believes it is 80/20 that deal gets done that sends LH ace to #Nationals https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/805966167437443072 Reverse posturing!!!
  15. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Speaking of "untouchables" I would be more comfortable with this deal if Turner was in it. I agree and disagree. I'm not going to be heartbroken if we acquire players with no ML service time, who are the next prospects to be "untouchable". It also gives the Sox more time to add to their farm/core in the next 2 years or so instead of having to use service time of Trea Turner for a team that won't do squat for a couple of years.
  16. Ahhh, the offseason... the only time I ever use or care about Twitter.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) How so Talks of a deal nearing a conclusion puts pressure on other teams like Houston or Boston to start ponying up and quit with the "untouchables" crap. Or go home without Sale.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) So no sleep tonight right? It may or may not be one of those nights. I do know that the Sox like to make some late night splashes at times... these GMs like to take advantage of every second of time they have at the Winter Meetings. Regardless, my 6 pack is ready to be consumed.
  19. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 35s35 seconds ago Sale talks with Nats saiid to be "advancing." would be huge get obvs
  20. Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 6m6 minutes ago Asked a source if a Sale trade to the Nationals was close. His answer was "no." Damnit Chuck, get out of the way of the posturing!!
  21. Ooooo close... not close... haggling over final pieces? Oh my this is starting to get interesting!
  22. I think Sale either gets shipped for Bregman +, or a pretty damn good package of prospects from AA or under from some team.
  23. I'm starting to become okay with the idea of obtaining a plethora of great prospects AA and under in lieu of receiving a teams absolute best prospect. It helps to remember that we're dealing with teams who have done a fantastic job of developing players. I could still see the Astros parting with Bregman in a deal, but the rest of the suitors that are out there, it just seems like they're married to their #1 prospect. A lot of these guys have graduated anyway, and it might be better for the Sox to grab players who are still 1-2 years away to maximize any new window of opportunity they might create. Unless the Sox plan on competing next year (which they very well might), it makes no sense to be wasting years of a Benitendi or a Turner on teams that are still a few years from competing. As awesome as it would be to have one of those guys, instead get the guys who are going to be the next "untouchables" in 1 or 2 years. Hopefully the posturing by all the teams will lead to a deal like this. Hahn and all the other teams sticking to their guns, and finally Hahn says "well fine, if we can't get X player, I want A B C and Y Z players." It should seem more "reasonable" to the other teams. Should be a fun week here, everyone. Fasten your seat belts for drama central...
  24. I think the time to sell Frazier is now. Despite the ability for some teams to overpay at trade deadlines, he's still much more valuable in a full season then he is in 2 months plus maybe the playoffs. If you can flip him for a better package of prospects then we gave up to get him, I think that's a no brainer unless the Sox are thinking of trying to extend him through a rebuild. Robertson depends on how teams value him. If there's no really interesting offers out there, I say keep him and see if he can have a solid 1st half, then try to sell him at the deadline.
  25. I freakin' love Adam Eaton and I doubt the Sox are looking to trade him, but it's the same kind of thing with the rest of our elite young, cost controlled players: If someone wants to bowl us over with an offer, let them. I'm not for trading Eaton, per se, but if the Nationals were entertaining the Pirates demands for McCutcheon, they might be more willing to pay that price plus a some more for a younger guy like Eaton instead with more years of control. I wouldn't be against a solid offer from another team for Eaton.
