  1. Bingo. Not every trade is cut and dry, winner or loser. If the Sox win a title and Nicky is a 4 WAR, cheap, top of the order hitter for the Cubs over the next 4-5 seasons.......everyone involved is happy. During the window the Sox are in, you need to take calculated risks and hope they work out. The chances are actually low that they do. The odds don't favor the Sox winning a World Series this year or next (the odds are always against you winning a World Series) but you Hahn's job is now to put this core in a position to try their best to bring home some hardware over the next few years. That's all you can ask for.
  2. Way too small of a sample size to draw conclusions on why the walks are up... But it's not too early to be very happy with the way Hernandez has come in and played since the trade. If this is the Ceasar the Sox are getting for the next 1.5 years, he'll out-produce Nicky in his sleep.
  3. Clubhouse seems to be off the charts right now. They've really put together an amazing group of guys, and Abreu really does seem to serve as player/coach at this point.
  4. In the thread Jack was posting in, I made the comment people just don’t understand what it means to add guys like Eloy/Robert/Grandal back to this lineup, which means you take out guys like Burger/Leury/Hamilton/Zavala, etc. Not saying it’s going to last…they’ll still go cold at some point…but come on.
  5. Just a few quick comments I could find from about two weeks ago hahaha
  6. Amazing how quickly the Twins turned to absolute shit
  7. Come on TLR, you couldn't give us Vaughn-Robert-Goodwin with Eloy at DH at least? We gotta have Leury and Goodwin as flanks to Robert?!?! ?
  8. If they hit on Williams.....Bulls got a shot.
  9. That has been mostly my approach as well, along with a few tech stocks I enjoy using myself like Roku, Take-Two, Peloton, etc. All have done pretty well for me too, but who knows what the future holds. I also realized I had too much in my savings (humblebrag?!?) and it's doing jack shit sitting there, so just put a decent amount into the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF and just let it ride for years. I feel pretty safe doing that....
  10. I think it's Sheets as well. I don't see them getting rid of Lamb so Sheets seems like the move until September....And you're right about Sheets, there were some warts but he came up with some big hits, seems like a good kid.
  11. If they win it all in the next three years, won't matter. But if they fall short......it will be easy to think what could have been. Now obviously we all know other signings may not have happened if Wheeler signed instead of Keuchel, but playing the "Everything else stays the same but you flip Wheeler for Keuchel" game.....it hurts. Also shows you the Sox were pretty dead on in their scouting, they wanted Wheeler from the jump and in this case actually did offer the most money to try and sign him...
  12. This tweet makes me think two things. 1. The Sox staff really has been awesome this year, and maybe their best pitcher in Lynn isn't on the list 2. I can't fathom how sick this team would have been in Wheeler takes the Sox offer, and they never sign Keuchel...
  13. Fun weekend….after this Minnesota series…things are going to get interesting. Can’t wait to see how they respond when LouBo and Grandal get back…
  14. He's worn it a few too many times this season. No excuse, he needs to be WAY better.
  15. Andrew Vaughn is awesome and so great to see his development over the course of this season.
  16. I never said I believed that it impacted Bryant. I don't really know. Neither do you. Only he knows that. My entire point was what the Cubs did with Bryant, sending him down for AAA for those 12 days, and the contracts given to Eloy and Robert are totally different things and optics. If you can't see the difference, I can't help you.
  17. I understand that, clearly you don't. The question has always been about Bryant being salty with the Cubs about the service time manipulation, and if that would play a role with him re-signing with the organization and the Cubs sort of creating a "negative" environment with the blatant send down of Bryant to AAA for those 12 days. That didn't happen with the White Sox, as I stated above. The two things are very different.
