While none of this is a "big deal" and will be forgotten quickly, I don't disagree with the premise of the article at all. The team is currently 6-25 and we know the history of this franchise and the laundry list of gripes we all have about Jerry. Calling anyone "haters" of this franchise is a stretch, for obvious reasons. But fine, whatever...it doesn't become a story if when both radio stations reached out to have Schriffen on the air to talk about the call, he goes on. But instead he decided to run away. That's a horseshit move. You want to puff your chest and respond to the "haters" but when asked to clarify...no thank you? He could have used it as an opportunity to defend the White Sox, or at the very least tell people who he was directing that at, there are a bunch of ways he could have made a potential interview a win for him and create a more personal connection with fans given he has only called about 30 games with the team...but instead he decided to run and hide.

I would not have spent a 4th rounder on a punter. Spending a 4th rounder on a guy that ideally sees the field 2-3 times a game, I would not have made the same decision. That said, I’m thrilled with the draft and the team Poles has assembled, I’m not going to get super worked up about the pick, but I’m also not going to get excited about it like others have.

I think there is a valid argument to not use a 4th round pick on a punter, but age is sort of irrelevant. Guys are punting at age 35, 37 semi regularly. Additionally, if Taylor is as good as the Bears hope, and he punts for them for the next decade at a high level...there are worse picks that could be made.

I wonder if they bring back Yannick back in on the cheap

I simply don’t understand that for the Bills at all. ““Hey division rival we are always chasing who is the only team in the league with a better QB, move up to take a WR, even though we need to fill that spot more than any other position on the field”
-
Seriously, I never thought I'd see the day where the Bears have the best WR room in the NFL lol

You know it's very unlikely the combo of Moore-Allen are both playing every game. If Allen misses time, it's DJ Moore then...Tyler Scott? Rome solves a lot of issues, both short term and long term. Now focus on DE/DT, have a weekend.

Fair or not, Caleb should set franchise records for the Bears in his rookie year. It's all right there for him

Bear, Motherfucking, Down

Don't you f*** this up, Ryan. TAKE ROME

Very likely Caleb won’t see the new stadium while he’s on his rookie deal

3-22 What a time to be alive -
It seems pretty clear the Bears were locked in on Arlington Heights, but Kevin Warren had no interest in moving the team to the burbs, and wants to stay in the city. He did the exact same thing in Minnesota, and clearly doing the same here. I was looking forward to them moving to the burbs, the city is such a pain in the ass and I can't imagine it will be that much better with the new stadium, but whatever. Just build a winner.

Whoa whoa whoa. We’ve got THE Chris Getz running things now. Developmental mastermind. Guy knows how to develop. @WestEddycan give you the list. I don’t want to spoil it, but if you’re into Selby Zavala…get a second pair of pants ready -
With the White Sox, or in baseball? Because there have been numerous successful "rebuilds" done by teams over the last two decades.
-
You’re right, the Major League development team has performed MUCH better…

While I don't think I'll ever be in that position, I have to imagine at that level, you have so few people around you that will tell you "how it is" and instead just kiss the ring. Obviously it's on the person (in this case Jerry) to be aware of what is going on in front of him, but I think if you insulate yourself with yes men, your view of things can be significantly altered from what is actually going on

Given that Pedro currently holds a 64-117 record, you would think at some point he says “This isn’t working, I have to take a slightly different approach here” but instead he continues with the same shtick every day. Hey Pedro, maybe take your own advice and flush the script, try something new.

But you also know he’d be hitting .185 here

ESPN predicts 120 loss season for the White Sox
Tony replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As fans, it was the best option there was. It was either continue to watch a 76 win team on a regular basis not be able to get over the hump with guys like Abreu-Eaton-Sale-Q-Rodon on the roster, or start from scratch and try to build up a core. You are correct at that point the faith was lost in Rick and Kenny, they shouldn't have been employed at that point seeing as we were celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the 2005 team at that point, but given their seemingly lifetime contracts, it was the right move given the circumstances. -
ESPN predicts 120 loss season for the White Sox

It's sort of like the Joker speech in The Dark Knight. It's ok to be awful, but it has to be part of the plan. Everyone was pretty much on board when the Sox traded away Sale and Eaton, because we had seen too much mediocre baseball, it wasn't working, and at least they had a vision and plan in mind for what they wanted to become. So we were ok watching really awful baseball for a few years because there was this baked in pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that it was all leading to something. This isn't that. No one knows what the plan is. The Sox owner said he didn't want to "waste a year" after going through "the most painful season of his life" last season. They are far worse than they were last season. If Getz met the media in January and said: "Listen, I didn't agree with a lot that went on here over the last decade. I respect Kenny and Rick a great deal, but this roster isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be. I know Sox fans want a winner and they deserve a winner, but as the roster currently stands, where not very close. So I've got a lot of work to do, and it's going to take us all, as a unit, some time to build this foundation the way we know it needs to be built. I'm going to be as transparent as possible with this fan base of what we're trying to do, and I hope in short order you're going to start seeing those results on the field. It's going to hurt for a while, but my only goal here is building a sustained winner for the Chicago White Sox. We owe the city that." You say that, and the attitude of this fan base changes a good deal, in my opinion. Obviously results will be the true test, but if we are talking about where we sit on April 15th, 2024...a simple level set last winter would have done this fan base a lot of service. But of course, that's not what they decided to do.
