  1. It's not a great solution to the bigger problem. I don't disagree with a lot of what you said, but at the end of the day, there are multiple people I know, some in their 50's (!!) that are still paying off debt and this will make their lives significantly better.
  2. I think historically speaking, this is exactly what Sox fans have done. Someone posted that attendance chart a few days ago....by far the most games attended by 35,000+ was 2006, then 2007, then 2008...then it really started to fall off. Unfortunately we haven't had many good teams to support, certainly not teams with sustained success season after season, but the small data set we do have to go off of...Sox fans will come in droves if you put together a good team.
  3. Again, these are mostly veterans, not players in their first or second year. These results have gone on far too long, I just refuse to believe a collection of multi-millionaires that earn their living based on the statistics they produce would all just "go along" with this plan from Frank Menechino. Maybe he is the main problem, there has been enough crazy shit with this organization where it's hard to give any situation the benefit of the doubt...but I just can't wrap my head around a MLB hitting coach thinking this is the correct approach, and MLB veterans buying into a plan that clearly isn't working. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't add up.
  4. Grandal is down nearly .400 points in OPS compared to last year. He's 33, not 43. Vaughn seems to be once again hitting that late season wall like he did last year, I can somewhat forgive that given the positive season he's had overall. Yoan...I don't know what the fuck has happened there. Pollock is also down over .200 in OPS compared to last year, Robert same deal, Anderson is sitting at .734 and hasn't had an OPS not in the .800's since 2018. I don't get it. Something has happened. It can't just be the hitting coach, and it can't just be the "dead ball"
  5. I think I know what you're getting at, and if I'm right...I agree with you that one guy (Menechino) simply can't be having this much of a negative impact on the entire group of veteran players on this team. I just can't see any scenario where players are actively going along with some plan to diminish driving the ball. However, it's not like one guy is being impacted. There is a team-wide power outage happening and SOMETHING is causing it. I agree it has to be a collection of things, but I really don't know what they are.
  6. I'm saying your point was logical, but that doesn't fly when it comes to the White Sox.
  7. You take your logic and get the fuck out of here. No room for that in White Sox land.
  8. Basically two games in a row where the coaching staff has actually put players in harms way.
  9. I assume you mean us as fans, right? We're the assholes that keep coming back to these games and expecting something different.
  10. Someone is going to give him decent money, and it shouldn't be the Sox. What's more likely: He repeats what he did this year or has a 5+ ERA at age 37?
  11. Such an awfully managed team. This is what they mean when you talk about not putting your players in the best position to succeed.
  12. He's correct, 2025 and 2026 are club options. 2023 is 9.5 and 2024 is 13
  13. To be clear, you've gone out of your way to defend Rick Hahn tonight, and are now making a post, on August 19th, 2022 discussing how this team can "rebuild" and "having something going in a couple seasons" when earlier this calendar year, the same Rick Hahn told us this club had World Series expectations.
  14. Pretty sure you may actually be a polar bear, which would go a long way in explaining your logic displayed tonight.
  15. So....who was the one that picked up the option for Kimbrel? I don't know how ANYONE, includes relatives in the Hahn family, can carry water for anyone in this front office right now.
  16. Rick Hahn was named General Manager in 2012, the same time Kenny was named VP. You also have no actual evidence to support those claims.
  17. According to Spotrac, the Sox sit at 7th in payroll at 196 million in payroll. I don't want to break any news to you, but Rick Hahn has been at the helm for over a decade. Yes, we'd all like the Sox to FINALLY sign a high priced, prized FA. But the payroll isn't a "problem", there are 20+ teams that would kill for the payroll the Sox have right now. Rick just doesn't know how to build a Championship contender.
  18. So do a lot of teams that are considered very successful and well-run franchises.
  19. I would be fully on board with that IF I believed changes will happen. I find it hard to believe that TLR is back next year...but a new manager doesn't solve the issues. Will it help? Yes. Will it make the Sox a true World Series threat? Not a chance.
  20. None of it matters. We're WELL beyond looking at 1-2 signings that "sunk" the team. The well is poisoned. The fruit has gone rotten. It ALL needs to go. We're well past slicing off part of the apple and saving the rest.....everything needs to go.
