This team and injuries, my goodness.

Ron, I had it wrong, it was Cease, not Kopech. This was going into the winter of 2019, preparing for the 2020 season. See the chain above...
-
I like saying "the guy that wanted to trade Vaughn, Kopech and Madrigal for Conforto in 2020," but to each their own... ?
-
You get the idea...

I like WSD, I get his shtick and he's in the perfect spot. Large props go out to him for what he's done. But he's gotten access to Hahn and others with the Sox because of tweets like that. He'll backtrack and say "No way I've been super critical of Hahn" but he's the same guy posting the Vince McMahon/Hahn GIFS anytime he makes a move and has a blog ready to go at will titled "DID HAHN DO IT AGAIN OR DID HAHN DO IT AGAIN!" I get it, too. It's not like he's writing for the Sun-Times. But I just don't think he's being totally forthcoming because of his "good" standing with the FO.

I forget who it was, maybe Heyman? But when TLR came back to the Sox, he was upset because he voted for him for the HoF but thought his career as a manager was over, and didn't feel like it was right for him to come back, because the story isn't finished yet. Everyone thought it was such a goofy take, and I also don't take the HoF that seriously.....but after what we've seen the last 1.5 years....he was right.

We now go to a live look at White Sox Dave:

So happy to see other crews state the obvious

I'm going to ask (what I think) a stupid question but it's one I can't figure out. I def. lean to the left with my politics, but at least try and understand some of the "crutches" the other side leans on when it comes to abortion, lack of gun control, etc. I disagree with them, but there are always a few talking points that boil down to philosophical differences that make it somewhat hard to argue. What I simply don't understand is how a normal, everyday citizen can be "anti-electric vehicle" or just "anti-electric" in general. I fully understand why politicians want to protect the oil companies, Trump uses the same stupid line about windmills killing birds which gets a mild laugh from his cronies, but it's not a secret how much we depend on foreign oil and wars are fought over that oil. For a crowd that considers themselves "America First," I just don't understand what even the bullshit argument is for not supporting a hard push for more electric vehicles on the road and not relying so much on foreign oil. Can someone give me an actual reason what the argument is to keep as many gas guzzlers on the road and just keep dumping fuel into our cars?

Who is excited for the shift to maybe, possibly come to an end?
Tony replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As Ray Ray mentioned previously, every sport has these rules in place, baseball doesn't have to be any different. And as meatball as this take may be...I don't hate a rule that gets baseball back to how it was designed to be played. There have obviously been incredible advancements in both technology and athlete makeup from when the sport was created, but at its core, baseball is still played on a diamond with specific positions designated for where a "shortstop" plays compared to a "second baseman" and I don't hate the game trying to get back to that original design. -

Absolutely, and it's always from the keyboard warriors. You ask any player and they will tell you how hard it is, especially when you reach the MLB level. Additionally, take a guy like Grandal, who obviously has had a TERRIBLE season, but when you look at his career, he's been a fairly accomplished hitter and been around for a while. He's been hitting in the same "style" for over a decade, not counting the minor leagues. Asking him to abandon that and hit in a completely different fashion is not an easy thing for any player to accomplish. -
Especially if you live in Lawrence! https://www.kshb.com/news/crime/2-dead-in-shooting-at-hy-vee-in-lawrence-tuesday-night

Biggest hit of the year for the Sox.

They gotta release this guy

Can we vote for Luis Gonzalez? No? He plays for the Giants now? Oh ok…

Ya think? No one forces us to be a fan. Yes, most times fandom is passed down generationally, but it's always a choice and you don't have to root for any teams if you so choose. The idea of rooting for a sports team is to provide entertainment/enjoyment/escape from everything else. It can create friendships and bonds with others, or also fun rivalries with friends. When I think about being a fan, I think about how the Sox are an almost daily conversation I have with my dad, even as I approach my 40's. The Sox, and sports, provide a large portion of our conversation. I think about the memories I had with him in particular when the Sox and Hawks won their respective championships. I think about being in a fantasy football league that I've been in since high school, with the same group of guys. We probably wouldn't stay in touch if it wasn't for fantasy football. Sometimes the games themselves aren't that enjoyable. When it comes to the Sox, that happens more often than not. But it's about the bigger picture. It's about investing yourself into something so when a 2005 comes around, the joy and celebration is that much sweeter because you went through the bad times, and it was all for this. I sat in the UC during college with about 4000 other people watching Igor Korolev and Karpo stink it up on the ice....which made 2010 that much sweeter. But ultimately it's about the feelings and memories sports creates. I don't watch the Hawks anymore because of the sexual misconduct stuff, and they just are a terrible franchise right now. My view on the franchise has changed since the dynasty era and that makes me upset. However, my memories of that run haven't changed. Me watching the first cup win with my dad, being confused if the Kane goal was actually a goal, and the celebration that came after don't change because of what we found out a decade later. Just because the Front Office of the Sox got lucky with 2005 doesn't mean I enjoyed it less then. I look back on the Summer in the absolute best way. It reminds me of a much simpler time in my life, didn't have a ton of responsibility, watched basically every game that season, was at the park for probably 25 of them. Those are all memories that don't change because the 2007 team sucked. Who cares?

Stop watching sports. For real. You haven’t grasped the point or understand what it means to be a fan. It’s not for you.
-
Just let him go. He’s only “happy” when he’s miserable. Sad way to go through life but to each their own. It was a team that happened at the perfect time with the perfect roster. And it was the most memorable time I’ve ever had as a fan of any team. That entire summer was just such a blast. Did the front office get “lucky” with that team? Absolutely. But it didn’t change what that team did in the Summer of 2005.

Won't change anything, but at least the national media is starting to talk -
That's a far-right talking point. I really don't see people demonizing "anyone" who owns a gun. My best man in my wedding is more liberal than I am, and he has a gun at home because he lives on Belmont in Avondale and wants to be sure he can protect his family from someone that shouldn't be in his home. I understand that. I don't think he's wrong. He also acquired the gun the right way, took training with it, and his hope is he never fires his gun. He's not playing with it or showing it off, he'll be happy if it stays locked in the secure location for his entire life. There are very few serious people that are saying ban all guns. There are more saying "Stop gun shows where a private owner can sell a gun to a 14 year old." or "Stop an owner from having a collection like these:

Always have loved that argument. Mass shootings are OK and something we just have to "live with" because if the government ever turns on the citizens, my AR-15 is going to stop it from happening.... Really? That's the argument? You're telling me that if the US government completely goes rogue and starts coming after citizens with force, they are going to be so unprepared that you're going to be able to stop them because you have a gun in your house? That insane theory is why we can't have reasonable gun control in this country?

Respect is earned. Your posting history here is about on par with Rick Hahn's record of signing FA's over 30...... But just to be clear, my response was to you wanting to...wait for it...give Tony La Russa a promotion, then wondering who to blame for signing Josh Harrison, Dallas Keuchel, trading for AJ Pollock, with the cherry on top of telling Sox fans to suck it up and enjoy watching the games anyway!

Did you do grounded outlets for all of them you replaced?
