  1. Very solid post mags. You make a good argument for Conforto….just worries me as the big swing this offseason (because I have to imagine that’s their big swing if they sign Conforto)
  2. Fair enough. I disagree but I get it where you’re coming from. Just don’t like the fit. Think we’d be very disappointed with the fit, and that could turn into a bad contract quick if it doesn’t work out.
  3. How much is Conforto going to help that defense? Is Conforto worth 18+ million more than Vaughn/Sheets?
  4. I don't like the Conforto fit. He turned down the QO. Yes, he could have misread the market, but right now Boras is working with much more information than I am and think he can get a long-term deal. The Sox seem like they will spend but we all agree it probably won't reach the levels we'd all like them to reach. So with that in mind, what are they getting with Conforto? - Mediocre to average defense in RF - Coming off a very disappointing 2021, which was his contract year - Will be 29 when the season starts - How many offensive free agents have come to the Sox and gotten significantly better upon arrival? With Rodon seemingly out of the picture.....spend the money on another starter. Make this rotation scary with something like Scherzer-Gio-Lynn-Kopech-Cease. Go out and trade some assets for a 2B, and run with Vaugh/Sheets in RF.
  5. So did anyone see Eternals this weekend? First MCU movie in a while I'll wait until home release
  6. So to be clear here...You're either much smarter than the White Sox, or......they have a reason for not extending the qualifying offer and seem perfectly fine being done with Rodon. You believe the Sox are being cheap, and it has nothing to do with their faith in Rodon performing in the future at a level they are comfortable with. Do I have that right?
  7. I feel better about the Sox direction already. Thanks Balta!
  8. There is a very real chance the Sox have a bad offseason. Could very easily see it happening. But the early “moves” thus far really don’t tell us anything. I really think it has to do with social media in general. The longer it stays around, the dumber and more impatient we get. Every small piece of news is the biggest thing ever.
  9. Because this is the team the Sox are taking on Spring Training? On November 7th? Why do so many here just toss out all logic and thought when one move happens? It’s like this is the first time anyone has ever gone through an offseason before.
  10. I agree. I’m not going to make rash judgements on a situation we don’t know all the details on. Want to let this play out, see what happens. But…if they make a few minor adjustments, I’ll be disappointed. They need to make a few key moves, not just band-aids. Act like you want to win a World Series and not just win a shitty division.
  11. I mean, not only is that statement not true (for like 100 reasons) the article you linked doesn't even speak to your argument. This is how they close the piece:
  12. It’s the only way it makes any sense. They have to know. This team (and basically no team) is in a position to have 30 mil tied into 2 RP’s, one of which was an absolute joke in a set up role.
  13. Don't let facts get in the way of a Jack Parkman thread derailment.
  14. I mean, DeRozan has just been incredible for the Bulls.
  15. I don't have any disagreement that there should be harsher penalties out there for DUI......but a guy walking to his car that is drunk, putting the key in the ignition but then falling asleep for 3 hours until a police office wakes him up shouldn't be punished the same way for someone killing another driver while drunk. Again, if you get behind the wheel when you're drunk, you should be severely punished, but Henry Ruggs killing someone deserves more punishment than a guy who passes out in a parking lot.
  16. I also think Lynn was a terrible matchup against the Astros, and was also fairly banged up by the end of the year. If Lynn alone pitched like he did in the 1st half, Sox probably win the series.
  17. The idea that the Sox should have had a "conservative" deadline and they should try again next year when they have a better shot at a World Series is laughable. No one knows how long this window is going to be (trading Nick Madrigal didn't shorten it either, so save that snarky reply) and the Sox were one of the best teams in the AL this season. They would have gotten killed by the fan base if they took a "conservative approach" and rightly so. I was a fan of what the Sox did at the deadline. I, along with many others, including the Sox front office, got it very wrong. Trading for Kimbrel ended up being a very bad move, no matter the cost. But that doesn't change the fact it would have been borderline criminal for the Sox not to try and win it all this year. I've been told by many on here the playoffs are a crapshoot anyway, so why not?
  18. It's why steroids basically saved baseball. If 98 didn't happen with Sammy and BigMac, I think baseball would have been in big trouble heading into the 2000's.
  19. There is no evidence Rocky knew, other than @South Side Hit Men wishing it was true. People can believe what they want. I believe based on what has been presented that Rocky didn't know, and as you said, McDonough kept it off his desk. It doesn't make me feel any better about the situation at all, I'm still done with the Hawks.....but I'm also not going to say Rocky knew when all the evidence we have to go off of says he didn't know.
  20. Those aren’t facts, those are your opinions.
  21. But I also think while you grow as a human, we as a society also mature and grow. Things in the culture change. How we view things when it's around for longer, when things become more accepted. I mean how long was the "Ret*rded" word used in our culture up until 5-10 years ago. That line was in so many movies, shows, etc. It's an offensive term now, as it should be...but we change as a culture. We're sort of getting off topic now and this is a very minimal issue in my opinion in the bigger picture with the Hawks, but I do think the cultural changes over the last decade are important to note.
