The role thing is bullshit. He was brought into a close game, in the 8th inning, to face the heart of the order last night. If you can’t get hyped for that role, then find another profession. I can understand when a closer doesn’t have “it” when they are brought into a 9-1 game or something, but last night? Give me a break.

Which is why they went out and acquired the best relief pitcher in 2021.....a move you hated.

There are a lot of stupid points to unpack here. Craig Kimbrel was acquired to bolster the Sox bullpen, giving them one of the best pens in the game, shutting games down with Kopech-Kimbrel-Hendricks. Given where the Sox are in the standings and the unique lead they have in late August.......ultimately Kimbrel will hold the most value in October. You seem to be equating late August innings with the same level of importance as an 8th inning in the ALCS with the bases loaded. They aren't even close. Additionally, you have almost an indefensible statement of: "That the Sox gave up 10 years of team control for, possibly, 2 innings of baseball. Kimbrel doesn't control whether the Sox win or lose in October, he merely is a piece of the contribution." There are like 8 things wrong here. - That "10 years of control" are referring to an oft-injured slapdick hitter who won't be back until 2022, and Codi Heuer, a middle reliever who had a 5.12 ERA with the Sox in 2021 (I know you love to reference ERA for relievers, so I thought I would make it simple for you.) IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH, you reference Kimbrel doesn't control whether the Sox win or lose in October...........Then the same absolutely applies for Heuer and Madrigal, even moreso since one of them isn't even playing. You can't have it both ways, that Kimbrel doesn't matter because he's a reliever, but they gave up 10 years of control!!! for him when you're referencing Codi Heuer as part of that equation. This is a very simple topic. Craig Kimbrel has not been good with the Sox up this point. If this type of performance happens in the playoffs, he will have been a massive disappointment. If he contributes positive, dominant innings for the Sox, especially in the playoffs...it was a worthwhile gamble as the Sox gave up items that shouldn't hurt them moving forward. You didn't like the trade when it happened, and you're letting everyone know about it with Kimbrel struggling about how smart you are.

Yet you've already called the trade "shit" and "awful" So which is it? ? -

No he didn't. That's your opinion, and a bad one, which is nothing new. Again, you're a waste of time. Luckily, the Front Office agrees with me. -

Because the Sox have a 9 game lead in the division and he will make his biggest impact, good or bad, in the playoffs. Yes, it would enjoy if he was pitching better right now. I have been disappointed with the outcome thus far. But if he has a dominant September and takes that into October, and helps this team win a World Series, I'm not going to call the trade awful....because I'm not an idiot. You've already decided to make that claim, because....well we know why. You're a waste of time anyway. -

But your the asshole behind the keyboard, and the front office that built one of the best teams in baseball thinks you're an idiot. So I'm comfortable with my position, sparkles. -

So by that logic, if Kimbrel becomes the closer tomorrow...you're back to loving it? -

It's shocking how little you understand about the game, and how biased you are in a desperate need to be proven right. -

I beat that drum all last season, but seeing what he has done this season.......Sox made the right call. -

That's weak, even for you. Get out of here with that garbage. You loved the Sox acquiring Kimbrel, especially what they gave up. I know you're you, but it takes some real balls to call a deadline move "awful" three weeks after you loved it. -

Which you loved. -
Agree with all you guys here. Fields is going to get his shot, and it's going to be sometime this season. I have very little doubt in that. But it doesn't need to be Week 1. If this all goes to plan, he should be here 15 years. 8 weeks isn't going to make a difference, especially with this fairly mediocre roster.

Trevor Bauer receives 2 YEAR suspension from MLB

The level of anger you reach when someone disagrees with you is quite astounding. Such a trouble little man. Side note, I didn’t try and dunk on you. I did. Like I always do. Just wanted to be clear on that one, sparkles. ? -

Except he makes 31 million dollars so adding Lynn (and signing him to an extension) probably doesn't happen, and my guess is Hendricks and Kimbrell would fall into the same category. We wouldn't know those things for sure because this is all speculative, but based on past history with the franchise, those seem like safe assumptions. Additionally, the one thing this team hasn't really had to deal with is injuries to starting pitching. Having him gone would have been massive, especially with the other injuries this team has dealt with. Oh, and it seems like it will be very complicated for the Dodgers to void the contract, so the Sox eating close to 85 million for Bauer to go away would be SUPER for the future of this team. But other than that, you nailed it. -

He's 22...come on man. I'm not saying he won't always be an RP for the Sox...but his career is not defined because of what has taken place over the last 1.5 seasons.
