  1. Their hitting seems very similar to last year so far. What I'm really confused about is what Abreu is trying to do. He's swinging at some bad balls & making some un-needed out in scoring situations...
  2. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Nate has to get a heck of a lot sharper before he's considered for a closer role. He was terrible last night, hitting two batters and giving up a couple of runs in less than an inning. It was one game... He pitched very well the night before.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Total players still on the Sox from July, 2013-- 4 Sale, Quintana, Danks, Jones Good point. Truly hope they get off to a strong start tonight. I'm anxious for the season but at the same time I'm not overly optimistic. Need a strong overall start, IMO.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) I assume Avila is no longer starting today with a lefty pitching? Have wondered the same thing, myself. Seems like Avila is Sale's guy, at least from what I read but I think Navarro should be starting. Frankly, Hill pitching tonight makes me a bit nervous. Sox have never had much success vs this type of pitcher but hopefully with multiple new faces it won't be an issue.
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) I wonder if we should scratch Sale tonight. Seems like pitching him here is a waste when he's not needed to win. Pitch Danks against Hill and let him pad his record for trade value. Than come back with Sale later in the series when he might be needed to get a win. This isn't MLB the Show... You take wins any way you can get them. I for one do not think this means an auto-win. Helps their chances? Sure, but that's about it.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Depends how much money Cincinatti would eat with Jay Bruce. If they were willing to eat $8 million like in the trade that went bust, there's the play right there. I think we've come to the conclusion that Bruce or any other big bat isn't going to happen until closer to the deadline.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) I would rather they get someone who can hit home runs. The Sox suck when they don't hit home runs. Anyone who currently fits that profile on the market? I can't find anyone.
  8. If Nate Jones keeps up his dominance & Petricka, Putnam & Albers can continue to do what they usually do, they're are going to win a lot of games because of it. Not nearly as dominant is the Royals pen but even something like it is going to make them win games.
  9. QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) Really not sure why Sands or Turner should make it over Ishikawa The fact that Turner is even still there is just gross to me. He's a bad pitcher. Time to give up.
  10. FWIW, ever since this LaRoche thing has happened, Eaton has not hit the ball... At all. He seems to be the main issue right. Dude needs to grow up & it needs to happen quickly.
  11. Latos seems to be leaving a lot of balls in the air. Hopefully they can get him another 2 starts before his first regular season start.
  12. How have Jackson's ABs looked outside of today's HRs? Seemed like he was struggling yesterday vs CC.
  13. I'm also legitimately concerned moving forward that this will hurt the Sox's FA pull. Can't imagine many players want to be a part of something like this.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) I don't see how there isn't at this point. There needs to be a resolution on the situation by LaRoche, followed by some massive damage control by management with the clubhouse. I'm legitimately worried this is going to grenade the season before it even starts... Had a co-worker that had a family member in the Sox's minor league organization (won't say who) that said EVERYONE hated Kenny & he's a giant prick. Was told that they got into it a few times & he was later traded.
  15. So... Is there any sort of concern that this carries over into the season & comes a breaking point to a complete s*** show?
  16. What exactly is this guy trying to say? That the Sox did something dirty to get him to retire?
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 08:01 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/03/08/lev...-has-been-busy/ Levine is still mentioning Jay Bruce. Says Cincinnati has been scouting Sox during spring training. Also said Hahn would still like a LHH. Makes little sense to me.
  18. Just can't seem to shake him off, can they?
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) Could Austin Jackson start for any other team in our division? He's better than Raiji Davis & Cameron Maybin, IMO. So I'd say, yes. Also worth mentioning that there were reports today that said Cle was in on him but he chose the Sox.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) Jackson becomes the 4tg outfielder unless we have another move in the works. I think Garcia stays no matter what They didn't just sign Jackson for $5M for him to be a rotational guy. He will start day 1 in CF. Make no mistake about that.
  21. Is John Danks for sure their 5th starter? I know it's early but if he continues to struggle & either Turner or Johnson step up, it seems stupid to let Danks round out the rotation.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) To me, it also means their attempts to get the big outfielders was more for public perception than anything else. Exactly how I take it, which pisses me off. Why try & go for it when you're that strapped? It's not like we can say "It's not Hahn's fault that they don't have money", when he signed two extremely stupid deals last year that have hurt them this year. If they fail, they need to clean house. This is such a poorly run organization, it's borderline embarrassing being a fan sometimes.
