  1. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) I think the Gordon signing comes first (where ever he does sign). After that I expect the market to shift more to Cespedes and Upton. Also reading between the lines I think Gordon might be the most realistic option for the Sox. If he signs with KC or someone else, I don't like the Sox' odds of getting the other two when you have to compete with teams like Detroit, SF, LAA, STL, etc. Teams that have been known to spend the big money. Gordon might not be as flashy as the other two but he gives the Sox a good LH bat, elite defense and a guy (finally) who will take walks. I hope that if he's the first one to sign it's with the Sox because if not, this board will go crazy & so will I. lol
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) I have no clue what's going on LOL. I'm just waiting now til one of the mainstream guys says White Sox ink X OF to deal. That's really all we can do right now. It's good news that they continue to be linked to these guys though.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:36 AM) How much money does KC have to spend? If they sign Gallardo for $14-16 million/year, do they still have enough for Gordon, even at a decent discount? I honestly think he'd sign a 4 year deal at $15M AAV to stay in KC. I think all these guys are realizing that their market isn't going to land nearly as much as they thought. Was talking to a friend last night & he brought up a good point. Heyward signs for less than most expected, which already somewhat hurt the rest of the OF market. Upton seems the most set at waiting it out & now there are rumors of him taking a 1 year deal. Cespedes has already talked about firing his agent once this year & I think they simply overstated his market & he's having a hard time coming back to reality now. Gordon obviously wants to stay with KC but wants to be making more than someone like Melky. I think he'll use all the leverage he has, especially with his agent to get KC has high as possible & will ultimately re-sign with them for lesser money than any other offer he gets.
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) Which means they will probably get Upton. LMAO LOL. I would love that personally. He's my favorite of the 3. There are pros & cons to each of them but I think we can all agree that any of the 3 would be a huge upgrade.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) Oh for the love of God will this roller coaster just end already?! Now back to Gordon?! I was already over that happening. Honestly, I'm not sure anyone knows what is going on. The good news is, they continue to be listed as front runners for 2 of the 3. Sure looks like Upton is out.
  6. So after collecting some info on all of this, I think the guy got real info, put it out with a "soon" timeline & it got a lot more publicity than he thought & he tried to save face with tweets. I do think he knows someone & got some second hand info, that could end up being correct but essentially cracked under the pressure of twitter & people asking him every 5 minutes. I don't think he maliciously did it & I don't think he was particularly doing it for trolling attention. I think he got info from someone he trusted & he either jumped the gun or it was bad info.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) "Close" is a pretty vague concept FWIW he said it was done, not close. Exact tweet: "Per source within the White Sox organization; team will ink Yoenis Cespedes to a 6-year deal. Dollar amount pegged at $125-135 million."
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) Totally contradicts what he said was agreed upon yesterday. Are there people that will actually believe what he says? I think all this did was confirm most people's suspicions.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) I think he's just going off of ideas after new stuff came out from National writers Very evident he's either BS'ing period or not confident in his report anymore. A "done deal" doesn't fall through like that.
  10. @PatrickHoward50 "Hearing talks broke down because Yoenis Cespedes wants a 6-year deal, while White Sox only want to offer 5. Upton out of picture. (Pt. 1)." "White Sox still prefer Cespedes, may circle back to Alex Gordon if K.C. offer is low. White Sox willing to add 5th year to Gordon contract." ...So, I think that says all it does needs to about that whole saga in terms of his tweets last night.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) I just have a really hard time believing that the Sox won't do anything else now considering that they've already acquired Frazier and Lawrie. Those trades and meaningless and pointless if the Sox don't add anyone else. Why upgrade two positions when at least one more substantial upgrade is necessary to turn the team from a "wildcard hopeful" into a "legit contender". The bottom line, in my opinion, is that Hahn is not done making moves and something else will be done. Which is basically what Daryl touched on today in his article. I do think they end up with one of the top 3 but even if they don't I think they'll grab a guy like Fowler, etc. Even a 2nd tier guy would be an upgrade & makes this team sizably better. Sox are looking to upgrade & I have faith they get it done. Remember, last year they were "done" & they signed Melky. They'll get someone & it'll be an upgrade.
  12. I'd be worried if guys were signing left & right but they aren't. Sox are obviously active but are being smart. I'll gladly wait on that.
  13. I think it's just time to sit back, relax & enjoy the weekend. I can't see anything happening this week/weekend. Good news is: Every national outlet has the Sox connected to the top 3.
  14. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) So Nightengale on MLB Network said he believes Sox land one, then he tweets not close to deal with anyone. Ok. See you next year folks. Saying he believes they'll sign 1 & saying they aren't close isn't exactly contradicting...
  15. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) Just saw that, looks like it's a waiting game because the market is really not in favor of the players. I bet you Sox have offers made and the OFs are trying to see if someone comes in with a higher offer. Not sure if you caught the same thing but he mentioned Cespedes multiple times. It's weird that they had a short White Sox segment when asking him FA questions.
  16. Bob Nightengale just said on MLB Tonight that the White Sox have had "extensive talks" with each of the 3 top OF'ers. Says he expects them to land one & named Cespedes a decent amount in that conversation. He said, they have been "sitting back" waiting for the prices to drop. Said 2-3 times that he expects a few of these guys to settle for 2-3 years deals but specifically named Upton as a guy that may hold out the longest.
  17. White Sox can make this move happen if they want & I think they do. As we all know, more goes into a contract than just a set year & dollar amount. I have no doubt that they are close with one of them, it's just a matter of waiting & the fluidity of the situation. We've seen how things can quickly go from "quiet" to a move.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) Gordon isn't going to get 100 million and that's from Merkin anyways. I am not sure the Sox have a beat writer who has been right all offseason. I understand what their job is, but I still thought it was worth noting. Quiet frankly I think the info you got & what Merkin have about the same credibility right now. I think the local beats are using their judgement & maybe un-intentially passing it off as "fact" to most readers.
  19. Where do you guys see this stuff at? Does it get RT'd on your timeline or do you go searching for it? (Serious question)
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) I could be mistaken, but it looks like that Patrick Howard guy deleted some of his sketchier tweets (Melky/LaRoche DH platoon, etc). Obviously he was a long-shot to begin with, but I'd say he's 100% full of s*** now. Edit: Looks like I was wrong and the Melky DH tweet is still there, but others do appear gone. Him saying uneducated things doesn't make him wrong in terms of the signing. Some people who get info still don't know much about the game.
  21. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) Worried? I don't even know what you mean there. It's just kind of baffling how many people treat this stuff as if it has any connection to reality. I'm just saying you keep telling people not to read the stuff from non-verified people but have talked about it a lot, too. I think it's pretty clear that there is something here w/ Cespedes. If there isn't oh well, but at least it gives people something to talk about.
  22. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Source: any meathead with a twitter account can type whatever they want and for some reason typing Source: seems to give it credibility in the eyes of some fans. For telling people to ignore "fake sources" on twitter, you sure seem to be worried about it as well.
  23. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) Source: #WhiteSox closing in on a outfielder Cespedes is their favorite don't want to give up a pick but don't count out Gordon just yet https://twitter.com/NickyMitch93/status/682036364066471936 Seen alot of stuff coming from this guy on Sox today I have, too. Not sure I buy it, though.
  24. Even MLB Network said they expect the Sox to get Cespedes not too long ago.
  25. I get a weird feeling this guy has this right. I usually shoot this type of thing down but part of me legitimately believes this...
