  1. Maybe I'm just dumb for this comment but why would anyone be upset with this move if they give up a reasonable price... When was the last decent 3B we had? Sure, he alone won't be the reason this team contends but I see no reason to be upset about this type of move w/ what is on the market as long as they did not give up too much.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) Not sure about the answer. Was Crede the best recent one? Or Magglio? I guess that's kinda my point. Personally, I have little faith in the current leadership to develop position players. So, I'll gladly sacrifice a QO pick for a guy like Upton. I don't see a problem with signing someone like this. I would love Cespedes but Upton works as well. Heyward is going to be way too damn expensive.
  3. Just curious... Who was the last hitting prospect the Sox actually developed? How many on the current projected roster? I think those answers should show that if KW/RH are to want to sign a guy like Upton & give up a pick that isn't even an original pick, why not do it? This team can't keep wasting this pitching to wait on hitters/position players they can't develop. Hey, I get it... This team is frustrating but I'm not going to fault them for adding talent to a needy roster.
  4. Sure seems like a lot of connection for Lawrie. He's someone I wouldn't mind at all.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Name changed. No sources. Just me connecting dots the last few days. So just to confirm: You're Bucket & just changed your name?
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 57s57 seconds ago Sources: #Padres progressing on multiple deals, with Ross a key piece. Moving him would signal concession in ’15. But looking at adding too. Maybe one is with us for Upton? I just can't see them selling a portion of the farm for a 2 month rental... Maybe I'm wrong, though.
  7. In my experience with the ESPN guys both baseball & football, none of them really have any sets of sources except for 2nd hand stuff they get from someone who knows someone. Padilla is an ass on top of it. Michael C Wright (former Bears ESPN writer) was the same way. Zero sources, a prick to most & never contributed dick. This article was just to fill his quota & to get a paycheck, nothing more.
  8. Although Flowers may be a bit better as a defensive catcher, I would still take Soto most of that time. More productive outs (aka less strikeouts) & a might better bat. This whole framing thing is quite overblown, IMO.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Well, if Rock isn't kidding, we're adding AJP I think some of you read far too much into Rock & Bucket's posts. I feel like there are times where they simple give their opinion or speculate just as fans w/o any inside info.
  10. THIS BALL GAME IS OVA! Twins lose & WhiteSox are now just 3.5 games out.
  11. Shark isn't going anywhere, gents. This team is 2 games away from .500 baseball, playing dominant & could be 3.5 games out of a WC in less than an hour. May be time to start talking about who they could add.
  12. I think Norris & either Pompey or Pentecost and a smaller prospect for Quintana would be a very good return. Still not keen on the idea of moving a top 20 pitcher, though.
  13. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) Good luck with whole "all-in" philosophy with that farm system. Completely agree. Worst farm system in baseball & a ton of aging players & a s*** pitching staff & they want to contend instead of building their farm w/ two big trades of Price & Cespedes? Stupid.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) Shane Greene absolutely sucks now, so Tigers likely to lose tonight as down 4-1. Seems like Tigers have to win the series at Tampa this week to avoid becoming sellers. Their GM came out before tonight's game & said they are going all in & buying. Idiotic, I know.
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) It's certainly possible with him but I'm not sure the Yankees are interested in Shark. I thought I had read that they were but maybe not. Would love Pompey, though.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) Besides Minnesota, only 2 teams in the WC hunt have fewer losses than the White Sox,and they each have one less loss. Jumping 5 teams isn't so impossible in that situation.amazingly, the White Sox are only 2 games out from having the 6th best record in the AL. I hate to say it but this f***ing team has pulled me back in. Like Dan Hayes just RT'd, this team has been down & out 3-4 times now & yet, going into Monday, this is the closest they have been to a WC spot in a while & are playing their best ball of the year.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) Not sure on pompey. You were referring to Aaron Sanchez right? Sorry, I meant Gary Sanchez.
  18. Ultimately, I don't think that trading Shark for a bat/glove that can contribute this year will have any negative impact.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) I think that's what they wanted to do in the first place Is getting either one of those guys realistic?
  20. If we are going to buy and sell, why not deal Shark for a ML-ready or close to ready bat like Pompey or Sanchez?
  21. Shark for Sanchez & a guy like Tyler Wade? Not the best with gauging value but could always throw in Putnam to up the value on the Sox side.
  22. Personally, I really want Gary Sanchez. I'm just not sure how possible that is.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) I don't think they'll have to add a starting pitcher even if they don't add anyone else given how long the list you just wrote is. However, I also would have no issue with Hoffman. Too many young starting pitchers makes it a lot easier to trade one of the other starters in a year or so to fill multiple holes. That said...if they trade Samardzija and they don't get a position player back...that's even more of a commitment to the necessity of 2016 as a full rebuilding year. There's only 5 slots in the starting rotation, can't work 7 different pitchers into those roles to make them trade-worthy. I may be crazy for thinking it but I truly think Shark will be dealt & re-sign here next year. I'm taking the "get what you can for him" mindset right now.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) Trust me, Sox will be shipping him to Toronto, so those of you who study it, what would be a proper return from the Jays? What would be the least that would satisfy you? Would gladly ship Shark & an arm like Putnam to grab a guy like Aaron Sanchez/Jeff Hoffman or even a guy like Pentecost/Pompey and a gamble-type prospects. Yes, I know the Sox already have Fullmer, Montas, Johnson, Adams, & Danish down in the minors as potential starters within the next few years but adding another top notch starting prospect would allow them to trade a piece or two for a hitter instead of spending in FA.
