  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 08:43 AM) For f***’s sake Caulfield, those rankings have JD Martinez over Stanton in RF. That tells me everything I need to know about the validity of using these for real world purposes. Or Andrelton Simmons ranked 17th at SS, sandwiched between Paul De Jong and Tim Beckham.
  2. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 25, 2018 -> 02:15 PM) Meh no loss I'd rather have Cargo anyways. I was saying it hurts for him.
  3. So he’s guaranteed 500K more than we guaranteed Derek Holland last off-season. That hurts for him.
  4. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 12:25 AM) The Nats can do that as much as they want but Rendon is boras guy so he'll test fa They managed to get Stras to sign an extension, another Boras guy. It’s likely he’ll test free agency, but hardly a guarantee.
  5. His war was down last year because he was hurt to begin the season and didn’t really have a healthy AB for the first couple months. He was probably the best hitter in baseball the las couple months of 2017 when he was back to normal. I’m not for or against signing him, just don’t see any major decline, or really any notable decline just yet.
  6. In what world is Donaldson in a “major decline”?
  7. QUOTE (balfanman @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 09:31 PM) Thank you Greg. I'm simply asking an honest question. I do not know Moncada personally and I hope that this is just a poor translation. But if there is an attitude issue it could easily grow into a situation leading to a clubhouse problem. We all have seen athletic prima donas. That particular quote just hit me wrong, but as I said in the beginning, it could well be a misquote. Nothing wrong with respectfully voicing (writing?) your opinion. But I really don’t see the issue here.
  8. I really don’t see the problem. He was just saying it’ll be easier to relax and work on certain things without pressing too hard or worrying about making the team. Barring some kind of disaster this spring, everyone knows the job is his.
  9. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 10:39 PM) Makes no sense why would the Tigers trade him and why would we be interested considering he only has two years of control left? I understand why the Tigers would trade him, but not why we would want him for the lack of team control you mentioned.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 08:22 PM) Can you please elaborate? I have no idea how his stuff was last year, but his K rate was above his career average and his BB rate wasn’t too much worse. The HR rate obviously appears to be an outlier though. Regardless, the stats seem to be pretty good. Did he blow a bunch of saves or something? If that’s the big problem then I’ll happily role the dice on him as our closer in a rebuilding season. His average FB velo was the highest of his career, so at the very least his arm seems healthy.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 11:38 AM) Callis likes Daniel Palka alot (the guy we claimed from the Twins) as an under the radar out of the top 30 list. He likes Sheets the most out of the 5 named earlier. It’s been a few hours since I listened, but I think he picked him as most likely to make a big jump next year. Not necessarily liked him best long term. Maybe that was implied, but I think there’s a difference. It was a good listen.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) This is far too premature. If he gets injured early in his career and can't live up to his potential, he and the white sox will be criticized for allowing him to do this. If he goes on to the HOF, he'll be put in the Nolan Ryan category of "genetically he could handle it whereas most can't" unless others duplicate it. However, you can't teach that type of dedication and determination. That's really what you have to like about this guy. If only there was something in-between!
  13. Cody Asche just signed with the division rival Royals. We need to get Machado at all costs and answer back.
  14. This is actually where I expected Bautista to sign for something like 1/5M. Kind of a can’t lose situation. If he hits, flip him at the deadline. If he doesn’t, no big deal.
  15. Olney listed us as an interested team Edit: See this was mentioned already. Must have glazed over it. My bad.
  16. QUOTE (Scoots @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 05:40 AM) Don't get me wrong, this rebuild is the most exciting thing to happen to this franchise since 2005, but the Sox definitely have a lot of big obstacles to jump over if they are going to a world series sometime in the beginning of next decade. Those Astros are only going to get better, the Red Sox are young...but I think the Yankees are going to be the team to beat for years to come with that team they are building over there. They are going to be very hard to beat in the future when their kids develop. Cashman has done a great job of leveraging talent and fiscal power. I can’t think of a recent example better than Chapman for any team. Acquired for relative peanuts, traded for a mint, re-acquired months later for only money and no draft picks surrendered. Quite the trick. I believe Hahn has done an excellent job, and is as competent as any GM in the game. We were lucky to have not had him poached before his promotion. I think we have the clearest path to success in a couple years within our division, but the Yankees will be a force as well. The key is to make the playoffs and hope that you come in hot.
  17. It isn’t paying $10M for the 33rd pick. They’re paying James Shields that money either way. The question is would you rather have Shields or the 33rd pick and the answer seems obvious.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:58 PM) We should go after Rondon. Live arm, big(ish) name. Definitely a turnaround candidate that could fetch something Agreed. I’m sure the opportunity to close again would be appealing, as would (presumably) not having to change cities. Also closed under Renteria in 2014. I can see this happening.
  19. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 24, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) Not even close. Murphy failed miserably last season. He's not as good as Kevin Smith. Rockies would include Rodgers, Tapia, and Pint for Abreu. They wouldn’t do that. I think The Sox likely value Abreu more than most other teams, which is why I doubt a trade will happen.
  20. This is from mlbtraderumors: Hard to argue with this. Edit: I screwed up the quote function.
  21. Part of me thinks this is damage control. “Sure, we lost him, but he was no good anyways. No big deal, no reason to lose faith or not buy season tickets.” That sort of deal. But then again, who knows. Never seen the guy.
  22. I love seeing pitchers work their legs and core. Keep the arm loose, but get that lower half strong. Clemens and Juan Guzman come to mind.
  23. The Twins just cleared up $3M in international spending today for the current signing period. Not sure how relevant that winds up being.
