Are we allowed to get nervous about Moncada at this point?
Blackout Friday replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Allowed to be nervous? Sure. Give up? No, dummy Ask myself questions and then answer them? Every day. -
Lopez, Fulmer and Holmberg to Chicago
Blackout Friday replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I expect the plan for Fulmer is to cut down his arsenal to focus on 2-3 pitches and move him to the bullpen. Let him focus on commanding those 2 or 3 and go all out for 15-25 pitches. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 03:25 PM) I saw on Chris Sale's MLB.com player profile that his nickname is now considered to be, "stickman". Lame. Yeah that's pretty weak. Condor is an awesome nickname. -
Narvaez would be a solid backup. Left handed, puts the ball in play, seemingly always gives you a good at bat. Also, maybe I'm just imagining things, but it looks to me like he's trying to drive the ball more lately. I'm a fan.

I can't tell you why...I know he isn't very good....but I like Big Pelf. Seems like a good dude.

Shields' lower arm angle seems to help his cause. Nice to see he's actually trying to adapt. Also, ever since Timmy started standing more upright he's been crushing the ball.

QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) Engel is too undisciplined....swings on everything it seems like. He can't seem to recognize the slider. He can still be a good 4th or 5th outfielder, which is pretty solid for a 19th rounder (I believe...top of my head).

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 06:57 PM) Yeah he went on contact with 2 outs, I don't have a problem with what he did there. Not at all. He holds up and the ball gets through and he doesn't score, you'd hear the same complaints.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) looked like lackey was out there jawing at rodon. What a tool Definite mouth breather -
I'd hang on to him and see how far they can stretch out his defensive versatility in the spring.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) As a 22 year old, Carlton Fisk hit .229 with a .763 OPS in AA. 2 years later he was ROY hitting .293 with a .909 OPS. Meanwhile, the other 99.99%.... I'm not even saying time to panic on Collins, but come on, man.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2017 -> 08:29 PM) ERA leaders for 1999: 1. Martinez • BOS 2.07 2. Cone • NYY 3.44 3. Mussina • BAL 3.50 4. Radke • MIN 3.75 5. Rosado • KCR 3.85 6. Moyer • SEA 3.87 7. Colon • CLE 3.95 8. Sirotka • CHW 4.00 9. Garcia • SEA 4.07 10. Hernandez • NYY 4.12 --- Ha, Sirotka was 8th in the AL in ERA at 4.00 in 1999. This is why Pedro's peak is the best ever

Sirotka reminds me of Kenny Powers' wingman

Adam Dunn was just terrible on the Sox
Blackout Friday replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not giving him that .292 "pass" is worse. He was garbage. Still don't see the need for the thread, however. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 5, 2017 -> 08:34 PM) His 82 walks/season over his 4 years here made up for his batting average Nope. He was maybe around a .325obp. Weak. -
Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning
Blackout Friday replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
I'm kind of looking at it as Eaton for Lopez and Dunning, plus this throw in kid Giolito. It helps me sleep. -

Dunn was s***. Three true outcomes is more forgivable when you're hitting .250 or providing some defensive value. His outcomes were the same, but the ratios weren't. Walks were down, power was down, strikeouts were up. Sunk cost. But seems like ancient history, thank god. -

QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2017 -> 09:00 PM) Always liked Sanchez, even when he looked AAAA. He could be a bench guy in the majors for a long time. Struck me as a guy that could thrive in the NL. Probably still does. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 2, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) This will be my last post on this but again: Hawk is lucky Stone is there to help him out. He could have easily ripped him a new one right there. in this isolated example, the language used by hawk was fine. Stone went too far. In a broader scope, usually the opposite. I thought you misrepresented what hawk said, so I countered. Not a big deal. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 2, 2017 -> 08:49 PM) no he didn't. Here's the full transcript: Hawk: well, I've said it before and I''ll say it again, to me, when he is retired, hopefully 15 years from now, you'll look back and say one of the greatest trades the WS ever made was acquiring avi garcia" Stone: "if he keeps playing like he's playing, he'll absolutely be up there". Seems to me Stone's comment is the silly one. -

QUOTE (bmags @ May 2, 2017 -> 08:47 PM) Yeah guys he said when Avi retires in 15 years they'll say it was the greatest trade in white Sox history. It's absurd no matter the context. He said hopefully. Big difference.
