  1. He might carve out a career as a nice 4th outfielder, which is nothing to scoff at.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) Amen. Of course you are right. Blowing it up is not the right thing to do for the Sox franchise. There are other ways to rebuild. Like spend spend spend for proven players and make a few smart trades. This reminds me of the old Simpsons episode where the town is digging for treasure that isn't there. Once they realize it isn't there and they need to escape, the winning suggestion is "we'll dig our way out of it!" The parallels are astounding.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) No one ever talks about Dunning who was a first round pick last year. Had a nice debut too.
  4. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1898047...lito-worth-hype The White Sox seemed to be the obvious winner in the Adam Eaton deal during the winter meetings. Now it seems like many top scouts and MLB writers are questioning the ability of Lucas Giolito. Between this article and the Rodon news, it has not been a good morning for me as a White Sox fan. They wrote this article as though the trade was a 1-1 swap. I agree early results aren't encouraging, but I'm not ready to panic.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 07:38 AM) I would think that they would just play David Freese at third. Yeah, just as a depth or platoon move though it might be a name for them to consider. Not a deal breaker in a move of this magnitude of course. Like most of us I just want to see something happen and I want meadows more than any of the other names.
  6. Word is Jung Ho Kang was denied a work visa and may have trouble attaining one this season. Maybe they saw some of Delmonico this spring while scouting Q (yesterday especially) and came away impressed. Just a thought if that could be worked into a deal. I assume the Toddfather is out of their price range. (Adding this point was the edit)
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 8, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) I would imagine this is a Rick Renteria deal from his SD days. Possible.... didn't think of that. But depth is never a "bad" thing, and I can't admin they would let someone like Cabrera get in the way of anybody important's development. Seems like a nothing deal.
  8. Per mlbtr http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/01/whit...p;post-id=82131
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) Cameron's comment about Q being the most expensive #4 starter in history. What is he smoking? Terribly off base with that comment. I think he meant the cumulative cost of keeping him until 2020 to act as a 4th starter on a competitive team. Not his single season salary.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) You want the 26 year old non prospect who has zero power over the guy who has a plus hit tool and has increased his walk rate moving up the minors? Admittedly I don't know much about Diaz compared to the other guys in the Pirates system as a prospect guy (might be a very good defensive catcher, pitch framer, great arm, etc), but I find the love for him baffling on this site. Not saying would love one over the other, just giving takes on two guys totally independent of each other.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) Sincerely, - The guy on the couch
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) Quintana means more to the Pirates than most other contenders- his contract in this day and age is a franchise-saving move for them. They won't be a player for pitching next offseason. So it's either Quintana/Archer or they have to roll with their young guys. But that doesn't likely get them over the Dodgers/cubs/Nationals hurdle. Tough spot for them. Meadows/Bell/Newman sounds so juicy to me. This makes sense. The stuff about Glasnow's stuff being mediocre or whatever was pretty ridiculous, but this is something that makes sense. I'm not big on Newman, but don't hate him. Would love Diaz.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Really hope Sox could get something done with the Pirates or somehow the Rockies chime in on Quintana. I really like a Glasnow, Bell, Newman, Diaz package for Q. Hopefully we can somehow get Meadows though Agreed on all counts
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) Reading material for family eggnoging http://www.thepointofpittsburgh.com/the-pi...-jose-quintana/ Edit: they suggest Glasnow, Bell, and Newman Pirates fans and bloggers seem pretty reasonable overall. I'd be very happy with that offer, despite preferring Meadows.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) If the White Sox take on McCutchen, they reduce greatly the prospect return. I believe he meant the pirates make the deal and trade cutch afterwards. Also, I agree with those questioning why wouldn't just eat some money to get a deal done and boost the return.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Admittedly, Toronto is a stretch but I don't think they would be too far off as long they don't consider any of their minor leaguers to be off limits. Urena, McGwire, Tellez and Vlady Jr definitely peak my interest. I know the Jays front office. No trade there.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) Could see Nats go for Holland first though. I would actually love to see us sign Holland. It further opens up the market for Robertson, plus adds an arm that could prove valuable come the trade deadline.
  18. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Rick Hahn was GM when the Sox traded for James Shields. Nice
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) Would people here rather have Pint or Hoffman as a second piece behind Rodgers? I'd prefer Pint, personally. Healthy track record and a stunning resemblance to Seth McFarland. Win-win.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Last time I promised to do this the site went down I may listen tonight and will post notes. Good thing to listen to while doing dishes Much obliged, sir. At a family event...
  21. Can't really listen at the moment. Can anyone provide quick notes on anything worth noting? Much obliged.
  22. They committed to a direction and are thus far executing it brilliantly. This was long overdue.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) I'm gona look at the Rockies. They could be sneaky Rumors they may look to move an OF to make room for Trumbo. Side note: trumbo in coors would be awesome.
