  1. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) I think he wants Torres and Torrens. Meant to have Mateo in there. Put Torrens twice because I'm an idiot.
  2. I want to see Q to the Yankees for Frazier, Mateo, Rutherford, Torrens (not to be confused with Torres).
  3. Sure we need position players more, but we need value most. If our farm is stacked we can deal to fill holes when they arise and the team is ready to make a run.
  4. Considering the amount of pieces we still have to deal, our future is looking pretttty, prettttty, pretttty good.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) For Quintana alone, I'd probably accept Giolito, Robles, and Severino Might also get them to bite on DRob. They're in on Davis who is also expensive and has health questions. Maybe package them together even.
  6. Interesting and maybe mentioned already, but BP has Robles ranked ahead of Giolito.
  7. DD mentioned getting an 8th inning guy is a top priority and that they need to watch payroll to stay under the tax threshold. He is known to covet power arms. Add Nate Jones to Sale and you could probably get a massive haul. I'm thinking Moncada, Devers, Kopech, plus others
  8. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:53 AM) I have a prejudice against subjective rankings of players, particularly those with even the slightest hint of failure in the low minors. I also have a prejudice against pre-injured pitchers. We've all seen top prospects fail, and we've all been deceived by "tools" in a prospect. I'm also suspicious about why these guys are available, and I also don't believe that they represent enough of a premium to pay for proven performance in a player with ~$150MM+ in surplus value. All taken together, I don't like this trade being centered around these two. By this logic, you should be suspicious of anybody we acquire. They're available because Sale is really good and they want to win now at the expense of the future.
  9. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:00 AM) Fangraphs has his FV as all of 40, largely owing to his hit tool being judged as being below average. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...amp;position=OF In other words, his FV is roughly equivalent to Charlie Tilson. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-21-pros...cago-white-sox/ The scouting reports on the player pages are outdated, back when Kiley was doing lists. Don't bother with them. Robles' stock has skyrocketed.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) Is Conforto worth both? No but a good starter. I'd ask for Rosario and go from there, but that's a long shot I think.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Conforto Good call.
  12. With word of the Mets on the lookout for two late inning relievers, I can't help but wonder what we could get for Robertson and Jones. Rosario is probably a stretch, but maybe Dunn? Just a thought.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 01:26 AM) Good stuff here. I don't remember where I heard it but when Buehrle got hazed by James Baldwin he went up to him years later and screamed "f*** you!" in his face. I think it was Marcus Stroman he took under his wing, specifically. What a guy. Hope all is good here. Now give us some rumours!!
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 11:18 PM) I'm just being realistic. I also think you're looking at from an America POV. I'm not saying what they did wasn't wrong, gross or terrible decorum from "professionals." That being said, looking at behavior in a foreign men's locker room filled with teenagers and applying American standards to it isn't fair. I don't mean that in an American elitism kind of way either. They just have different societal norms that (likely) no one here understands. It's safe to assume they're not as sensitive on issues like sexual assault. Again, not saying the kids aren't in the wrong, just not sure anyone in here is in the position to act as if thest kids in the same boat as actual rapists. I played sports in high school. There was some nasty stuff going on in the locker room whenever the coaches were in their lockerrom. Everybody messes with everybody and everyone tries to outdo the person before them. You spend long days together for months on end and it can get crazy. We had one kid who was afraid of worms. So when he messed with the nastiest dude on the team, he got tackled in the shower while the other kid, also naked, stuffed warms in his face. Nobody feared for either of the kids, everybody laughed and it was over when it ended. These idiots took it too far, taped it and sent it out publicly. Well, I am born in Brazil and raised in Portugal and moved to Canada as a teen. I also played sports and never heard of this tactic specifically. I'm not coming from an American point of view. Also not trying to single you out or accuse you of anything. You're a great poster here and provider of valuable information. I just disagree on this front. Just because things were done a certain way in the past doesn't mean that's ok. I recall a story of Mark Buehrle, for example, explaining his hazing as a rookie with the Sox. Nothing close to this disturbing, but it bothered him deeply. He took that hazing and decided to treat rookies with respect (buying them suits, etc) and occasional ribbing. I would guess the rooks he treated nicely will do the same to the next generation. I think that's important. I'm not suggesting rookies should be coddled. But jerking a guy off is too far. Even if it was hypothetically consensual in this case, it could set a dangerous precedent if not punished. Not that they should be crucified necessarily, but it's wrong and they and their peers need to know I think. Anyways, don't take this as an attack or trying to act more righteous than you. Promise not the case.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) What? Homophobia is not gender specific. By law, in America at least, they committed sexual assault. I don't know the law in DR but we'll see if the laughing victim presses charges on his friends. I think the issue is that this type of hazing is dangerous, regardless of whether the victim is seen laughing. Is he laughing because they're his friends? Or is he laughing because he wants to fit in and "be one of the boys" and doesn't know how else to react? Regardless, this type of hazing is unacceptable and should not be permitted. This was more than just hazing. This isn't boys being boys and that kind of mindset is disappointing.
  16. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) I'm just glad he's gone. Toronto wasn't going to give anything of value for him, obviously. Who cares? Watching the Toronto broadcast last night, it was like the return of the messiah.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 07:02 AM) Why are we so concerned about the return here? I'd have happily DFAd Navarro. Worst case scenario would be sending down narvaes The best part of it is we got some minor league filler and opened a spot on the 40-man
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 06:53 AM) http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2016/5/11/11...undown-may-9-10 Here from this year it says his fastball sits low 90s and can tick up to mid. Same type of source as the one you brought up. Of course this guy isn't a real good prospect, it is for one month of a back up catcher having a horrible season, but I have to ask you a couple things. Why were you so concerned he is rule 5 eligible? If he is decent enough a team would take him there, it makes this trade look even better. And the Sox should have plenty of room on their 40. It also appears your Blue Jays source who has never seen him hit 90 may have not seen him pitch anytime recently. Chances are the guy suck and we never here about him again. He was an amateur scout who is now a cross checker. So it's possible he hasn't seen him in person for a bit But I trust his opinion nonetheless.
  19. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 06:42 AM) Hi8is and I accept your apology. Thank you Great. I enjoy a good debate, but no need for low blows or condescention. Would like to move on.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 06:38 AM) ? Who said anything about banning? I mean, if you want to stay and argue, that's fine. This thread isn't really a shining example of what this site is about but it tends to get like that in seasons where the Sox fall below expectations. Nobody is calling to ban you though. Although I will say the wife and divorce shot was below the belt and out of nowhere Agreed and I apologize.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) You can throw 93-95 while being bad too? Either way, he's having great success this year whether he throws 86-89 or 93-95. Hahn at least got a guy with minor upside for the worst player in baseball. This is exactly bang on
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 06:31 AM) Rick Hahn. He just said the guy hits 93-95 mph. Also, how many rings do the blue jays have in the past 14 years? Just sayin They have two since 1977, their inception as a team. How many do the Sox have since then? Just sayin
  23. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 06:31 AM) Rick Hahn. He just said the guy hits 93-95 mph Gotcha, you're right. Rick Hahn is totally unbiased. They got a top notch lh arm for the worst player in baseball
  24. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) For what it's worth, seems like you have a pretty lousy source Based on what? A scout that has 14 years in the Blue Jays org? Who is your source?
