  1. I have no regrets over the trade, and wish Trayce well. Glad to have Frazier.
  2. I'm cool with trading EJ while he still has some credibility. His velocity is gone, and he doesn't have the command to make that workable. But I don't want Shields at that salary. Edit: spelling boo-boo
  3. Watching Ventura manage is like watching the episode of Seinfeld where George is trying to get fired but can't.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 28, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) I haven't watched 1 second today. Just checked box score. Do I even want to know anymore Box score says it all
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 28, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) Kahnle over Jones? Jones doesn't come in until the lead is coughed up.
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 28, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) Correct. A little early to make that kind of statement. Players can turn things around. The draft hasn't happened. No prospects have moved teams yet. Prospects in the minors will graduate, or not graduate. Who the hell knows.
  7. http://www.southsidesox.com/2016/5/27/1180...ed-out-of-order Good write up on South Side Sox. The Robin ridiculousness wasn't lost on ol' Jim Margalus
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) If this season ends up looking worse where we're likely not contending, I wouldn't mind some young guys coming up to get some at bats and experience the rest of the way (Coats in a corner spot-Melky DH, Davidson up to get at bats between DH,1B,3B, more Saladino at short (not quite ready to call up Anderson personally), call up Kevan Smith while releasing Avila because: why not?). Might as well try Coats anyways. Can't be worse than Sands. He's not a future regular either, so it isn't as though he needs to be getting regular at bats.
  9. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:20 PM) Just the idea that Jones did end up pitching in the 7th, but only after the lead was gone. I'm mesmerized by the stupidity involved in that thinking. There was an open base, and an inferior hitter on deck that would match up with your best non-closer. It should have been academic. Especially if you're just going to burn Jones out anyways. Robin is a smart man, so I don't know what he's thinking sometimes.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) Hawk said they were 4-16 in the last 16 Yeah I was just making fun of Hawk. Making fun of old people's senility makes me feel better about being me.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) How did Harrelson handle things? Didn't hear any comments about him in the game thread... Surprisingly well. He got on Angel a bit, but not overly so. And it was with good reason. The time off must be helping his nerves.
  12. You know you're bad when you're 4-16 in 16 games
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) You want to PH Avila there for him? Saladino? Our bench has no options to get a hit against Davis... Yeah, not much else to go with here. This isn't Robin, it's the roster.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) It's common sense and you are always right in hindsight. Perfect vision you know Whatever dude. Think whatever you want. It was stupid.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 27, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) You are wrong. The setup if pitchers was correct but they couldn't deliver Nope. Walk Hosmer, bring in Jones. This is a hindsight 20/20 thing, it's a common sense thing. You are wrong.
  16. It is much better burning up Jones when we're losing than ahead. Makes perfect sense.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 27, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) Lol swung at 3 balls 2
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) So everyone could cry for Robin to be fired when he burned up the pen? I can see it is irrational theater tonight in the game thread. You guys have fun wasting another night. You use your best reliever when the situation dictates it. Let the lesser guys go in with the bases empty, nevermind the inning.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Joe Sheehan ‏@joe_sheehan 43s44 seconds ago My favorite part of the bottom of the seventh was Robin Ventura waiting until the lead was entirely blown to use Nate Jones. #whitesox This is fantastic and sad all at once.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ May 27, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Didn't they go back to back to back in that game? Was it Dye, Paulie and Rowand? I seem to remember it being single, home run, single, home run. Not sure who was involved. Don't remember it that well. But I think it was the 6th inning and Johnson was either perfect or had the no hitter going. Of course, there is the very real (likely?) possibility I'm wrong.
  21. I remember Randy Johnson having a similar game to this when he was with the Yankees.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 26, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) He is extrapolating a lot off of very little. To say the Sox are trying to trade for Gardner and Beltran is speculative at best, because reading what was posted I did not see Olney say those things Which is why I said he's going off tweets and beyond that is speculation.
  23. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 26, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) This person has zero credibility. He puts out rumors constantly hoping something will stick. He has had 3 -4 Jimmy Butler staying/going, several Bruce/Cargo rumors to Sox, Rmors on almost every position w Bears etc................... To be fair, he's going off tweets from Buster Olney. Beyond that is speculation, of course. Olney is fairly well respected in regard to these sorts of things.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 21, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) They are getting ready to lose their 9th straight non Sale start. I don't think it's time for everyone to be sucking their dick. Happy mediums exist.
