  1. Even an opt-out after 4 years would be better. That gives them 19, 20, 21, and 22 to work with. I'd prefer it to be after 5 or 6 years in a perfect world but I'll take what I can get at this point.
  2. I don't see the Sox being that good next year even if they did get Manny, and 2020 is somewhat up in the air at this point given Kopech's injury among other things. The Sox would have him for 1, maybe 2 years (if they're lucky) when they're actually a competitive team. I mean obviously I'd take that over not getting him at all but a 3 year deal is nowhere near as appealing as something longer term.
  3. That article is good but signing him to a deal in which he can opt out after 3 years makes zero sense for the Sox.
  4. I was in 1st grade in 2005, sadly I only vaguely remember that season. I was a fan but it's hard to remember the details at that age. That's why the Sox winning it all again would arguably mean more to me than 2005 because I'd obviously appreciate it way more now. Getting Machado is the first step in making that happen.
  5. Yep, Gurnee. I was a high school senior when the Cubs won in '16. They were showing videos of the parade in every class. The number of bandwagon fans was through the roof. It was awful.
  6. That would be great! I've encountered very few Sox fans in real life though. There were over 1,000 people in my high school graduating class and I can count on 2 hands the number of Sox fans I knew. It's sad but not to be unexpected.
  7. I'm in college though, these professors go from talking about the syllabus to lecturing in like 10 minutes on the first day of class lol
  8. I go back to school a week from tomorrow. I just want it to be over by then because if not, my productivity will be zapped and I won't accomplish any work. Lol.
  9. I just hope this ends sometime early next week. I can't take much more of this.
  10. So I've been gone for over an hour. Why is everyone suddenly so optimistic?
  11. That's true, but at this point I'll be more than happy if they just get one. Ha.
  12. In a perfect world: the Sox are finalizing a deal with Machado this weekend while the Phillies met with Harper and are waiting to announce it until tomorrow when this week's NFL games are over and the Sox will get the most attention/coverage on the signing as possible.
  13. I don't know if that post means anything but the timing is interesting. Like you guys said, the Phillies met with Harper today so there is no way they could have been finalizing a Machado contract at the same time. I still wouldn't rule the Yankees out though.
  14. The fact that this mannyjr guy works at Yankee Stadium concerns me, even though the Yankees are considered to be "out" of the hunt for him by most. Given that it's the Yankees we're talking about here and Machado seemingly prefers them, I just can't rule them out for sure.
  15. Then why would that post have anything to do with the White Sox like Jose Abreu suggested?
  16. To me, it seems as if neither agent wants their guy to sign first, as both want their player to get the biggest contract ever. But someone will have to budge eventually.
  17. NotHahn's response was extremely vague. Maybe the birthday cake just didn't taste good. ?‍♂️
  18. Hahn is going to need armed guards protecting him during SoxFest if he comes up empty.
