  1. If I remember correctly, he was a highly regarded prospect at one point. Probably just going to be an arm for spring training but I'll be rooting for him to make the team.
  2. This Britton deal is good for the Sox. That's 40 million the Yankees can't spend on Machado. I hope they spend a lot on Ottavino too.
  3. If all the Machado threads from the past month were combined into one, it would be 7,000+ posts long. Not kidding either.
  4. This would be the biggest kick in the junk in the history of kicks in the junk.
  5. Getting rid of Happ, Schwarber, and Q just to sign Harper doesn't make the Cubs any better IMO. In fact it probably makes them significantly worse.
  6. I think Herrera would be a good signing. He's obviously familiar with the division and he's only 29 so he should have a couple good years left. He was unhittable with the Royals last year before being traded. Give him the 8th inning and move Jones to the 7th and that's suddenly a really good bullpen.
  7. Maybe a Pomeranz or Gio Gonzalez type. I'm just hoping guys like Rodon, Lopez, and Giolito all take steps forward next year because that would be huge. Nova will eat innings and do a good enough job at that. Maybe Covey or someone else will claim the #5 spot but bringing in a veteran of some kind is probably a good idea.
  8. Assuming the Sox only get 1 of the big 2, signing Machado, Pollock, and Ottavino is my ideal scenario for the rest of this offseason. Fills massive holes in 3B and CF and adds a stud at the back end of bullpen.
  9. Like I said, sign Machado and I'll be more than content. I don't think getting both is likely or realistic but my point was that the odds aren't as slim as SS2K5 is making them out to be.
  10. Here is how I see the suitors for each guy as of now: Machado: White Sox/Phillies/Yankees/mystery team Harper: White Sox/Dodgers/Phillies/mystery team Algebraically, 1/4 X 1/4 = 1/16 which is 6.25%. That isn't entirely accurate because there are other factors involved like you mentioned, but the Sox have as much, if not more money to spend than the competition and have the luxury of waiting it out. I'm liking the odds of the Sox getting one of them if nothing else, but getting both still isn't out of the question for me.
  11. Good. I hope TA7 and Yoan stay where they are and continue to develop. Both showed significant improvement on the defensive side at their respective positions last year. Making them learn new positions is the worst thing the Sox could do. It'd be like Gordon Beckham all over again.
  12. This has probably been answered already, but do we know if Machado would be willing to play 3B with whatever team he signs with? Or is he insisting on playing SS? Because if it's the former, he's a perfect fit for the Sox and I hope they do everything in their power to sign him.
  13. Why would he be on a plane with the common folk, especially right now? Don't buy it.
  14. They are small, but it's higher than 1%. There just aren't that many suitors for either of these guys which works to the Sox advantage. That being said, I'd be more than happy if they just got one of them and I hope they try to grab Machado first because his market seems to be moving more quickly right now.
  15. It's not hard to envision a scenario in which the Sox get both Harper and Machado. This is so exciting.
  16. "Could have"? I thought it was a done deal. This guy is such a fraud.
