  1. I guess now was the best time for Kopech to have the surgery if it had to happen, my point was that I wish the Sox hadn't called him up last season because now they're burning a full year of his MLB service time in a season where he won't even pitch. But like I said, it is what it is.
  2. Yuck. I'd already rather take a chance on Trevor Cahill than Happ.
  3. I don't think this is a big deal. Extending him doesn't mean he's here through the entirety of the rebuild. They can still fire him whenever they see fit in the future.
  4. This is no different than what the Cubs did with Bryant a couple years ago. In hindsight I wish they would've done the same with Kopech as they're now burning a year of control for nothing but it is what it is.
  5. I meant in the sense that if they give 100+ million to Corbin, the odds of getting Harper or Machado are significantly slimmer.
  6. I will be so angry if the Sox use their limited financial resources on Corbin instead of Machado or Harper.
  7. Like soxfan2014 said, Cruz was teammates with Machado for awhile. Interesting...
  8. Signing Cruz wouldn't have any negative impact on the Sox pursuit of Harper/Machado, right?
  9. Nightengale's latest Harper tweet doesn't even mention the Sox at all. Interesting.
  10. Yikes, I had no idea he was that bad. I just looked it up, he had a -3.2 DWAR this past season lol. But still, I would be fine with him in right as long as there's a guy that can go get em in center.
  11. I'm not going to turn Harper away because of his defense. I can live with him being mediocre in the field because his bat is so good. Given his age, I don't see any reason why he couldn't be serviceable in the outfield over the life of his potential contract (even if it's a 7 or 8 year deal), I feel like the odds of having to move him to first or DH are slim .
  12. Truthfully I'm not too concerned about that right now. Worst case scenario is that you get a burner like Engel who can cover the gaps, but I'll take a worst case scenario in which Bryce Harper is playing right field for the Chicago White Sox all day long.
  13. Just imagine Harper and Eloy in the heart of the order for the next 5+ years...how amazing would that be
  14. The more I think about it, the more I want Harper. Signing him adds a huge left handed power bat into the lineup and solidifies right field long term. If Eloy is as good as advertised, he would occupy left, leaving Robert, Rutherford, Gonzalez, Walker, etc to compete for the center field job. Whoever doesn't win that competition can be traded for positions of need, like a 3rd baseman. Not to mention the star power Harper brings. He would put the Sox back on the baseball map immediately.
  15. I'd maybe push for a 6th year since Eloy, Cease, and several others will hopefully be in their primes and the Sox will be full fledged contenders by that point, but I love your idea.
  16. Front load the hell out of it, but no opt outs until after year 5. Otherwise it's not worth it.
  17. @JonHeyman "Given the opportunity to shoot down rumors they could go for both Harper and Machado, a Philly person did not do it. Everything’s on the table it seems. They clearly aim to win. #phillies"
  18. If they sign Harper, I want Josh Donaldson as well to play 3rd base.
  19. Just imagine how insane it would be if the Sox got both. I'm not expecting that by any means, but good lord.
  20. I know but I keep refreshing Twitter to see if something new has happened. I can't help myself. Lmao.
