  1. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Q will be on the Sox until the 2018 trade deadline.
  2. Danish can't strike anyone out. He's probably a mop-up guy and nothing more at the big league level.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 20, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) Sweaty Freddy needs to come back as a pitching coach just because a team can never have too many Garcia's. This is hilarious.
  4. Anyone else think the Sox could go after Jose Israel Garcia as well since they have nothing to lose now?
  5. This is such an exciting time to be a White Sox fan.
  6. I don't know why the thought that Yolmer has any influence on Moncada is being mentioned. Moncada is clearly the superior talent. He will get the starting 2nd base job as soon as he comes up. Yolmer will move to a utility role which is fine because he's not a starter on a contending team.
  7. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) It doesn't make sense for the Mets. The Nats likely aren't going to need the help with how weak their division is. Ah I see. I misread your post. But still, I think the Nationals will be buyers. They'll likely run away in the East but their bullpen is nowhere near playoff caliber.
  8. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 16, 2017 -> 05:21 PM) I think the bidding for Q will come down to the Cubs and Cards. Both have a need at SP and cost controlled SP at that. I don't see the Nats doing much to their rotation as they are likely to run away with that division in the second half and with all the injuries the Mets have, it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to be chasing a pennant this season. It doesn't make sense for them to chase a title now considering Harper will walk after 2018? I don't get that logic at all. If anything they should do whatever they can possibly do now to win this year and next.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 16, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Combine Kopech's K/9 and Adams' BB/9 and the Sox have an HOFer. So pretty much they'd be Chris Sale.
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) I will go because I love watching the game of baseball. Well yeah, but it's also nice to know that we could be watching a generational talent coming into his own each and every night.
  11. I will go to Sox games just to see Moncada play.
  12. I was at that alarm clock game and it was a pretty decent crowd. They said the attendance was like 29,000 and change but it seemed like more than that. Not a sellout, but one of the busiest games I've been to in awhile.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) Wow, that's quite a coincidence. Robinson Cancel started his career in 1999 and didn't play again until 2008, that's amazing.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Infante's only major league time was with the Sox in 2010. Wonder what the record is for longest gap between first year and second year in the bigs? He has to be close. Cesar Valdez comes to mind. He spent 2010 with Arizona, didn't play in MLB again until this year with Oakland.
  15. I said it when it happened and I'll say it now - Diaz as the last piece in the Sale deal is extremely underwhelming. I have no idea why the Sox didn't take a hitter over him.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:08 AM) We always have the banner to remember those contributions to the tank. Count me in for the number retirement ceremony and statue unveiling sometime next season.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:09 AM) I can't see the Red Sox wanting to give up even more of their prospects. Me either. I'd be shocked if Q went there. Q would be a nice addition for them but that would mean that they'd be giving the White Sox almost their entire system between the Sale/Q deals and I don't think that will happen.
  18. I'll always remember Asche for his perennial contributions to the franchise. He will be missed.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) To expound, I am hoping for something along the Ken Giles deal. For Kahnle? No way, at least right now.
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Keep him for now. Put him in the closer's role after Robertson/Jones are traded and if he continues to pitch well he should bring in a better haul later than at the deadline. And then depending on how the rebuild is going you reevaluate again later. Agree with this. I think Jones stays with the Sox until next season but I'd give Kahnle the closer's role after Jones is traded sometime in 2018. Then flip Kahnle for prospects and let Burdi take over for the foreseeable future.
  21. I hope the Sox lose 2/3 (except for tomorrow as I'll be at the game), as this series could be critical in determining the 2018 draft order.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 12, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) I think the Cubs do trade Candelario this season but they could probably do better than Gonzalez. I would even do something like Gonzalez and Swarzak for Candelario. Candelario has no place to play on the Cubs, but he'd be perfect for the Sox. He's tearing up AAA too.
  23. You guys think the Cubs would do a Miguel Gonzalez for Candelario swap?
  24. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) This is totally random, and apropos of nothing, but is there any advanced stat that accounts for SBs when looking at a player's OPS? The way I'm thinking about it, if a player gets a single and then steals a base, that could be looked at as a double. Therefore, someone like Billy Hamilton, who is 19 for 21 in SB attempts, adds a net value of +17 once on base. So, while his normal OPS is a mediocre .671, his SB-adjusted OPS (SB differential + TBs / ABs) is a pretty solid .793. What do ya'll think?
  25. Soto is made of glass. Whatever. Smith is just a placeholder. Thank god for Zack Collins.
