QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:09 AM) I can't see the Red Sox wanting to give up even more of their prospects. Me either. I'd be shocked if Q went there. Q would be a nice addition for them but that would mean that they'd be giving the White Sox almost their entire system between the Sale/Q deals and I don't think that will happen.

I'll always remember Asche for his perennial contributions to the franchise. He will be missed.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) To expound, I am hoping for something along the Ken Giles deal. For Kahnle? No way, at least right now.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Keep him for now. Put him in the closer's role after Robertson/Jones are traded and if he continues to pitch well he should bring in a better haul later than at the deadline. And then depending on how the rebuild is going you reevaluate again later. Agree with this. I think Jones stays with the Sox until next season but I'd give Kahnle the closer's role after Jones is traded sometime in 2018. Then flip Kahnle for prospects and let Burdi take over for the foreseeable future.

--5/12 Game Thread: White Sox vs Padres--
ChiSoxFanMike replied to Brian's topic in 2017 Season in Review
I hope the Sox lose 2/3 (except for tomorrow as I'll be at the game), as this series could be critical in determining the 2018 draft order. -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 12, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) I think the Cubs do trade Candelario this season but they could probably do better than Gonzalez. I would even do something like Gonzalez and Swarzak for Candelario. Candelario has no place to play on the Cubs, but he'd be perfect for the Sox. He's tearing up AAA too. -

You guys think the Cubs would do a Miguel Gonzalez for Candelario swap? -
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) This is totally random, and apropos of nothing, but is there any advanced stat that accounts for SBs when looking at a player's OPS? The way I'm thinking about it, if a player gets a single and then steals a base, that could be looked at as a double. Therefore, someone like Billy Hamilton, who is 19 for 21 in SB attempts, adds a net value of +17 once on base. So, while his normal OPS is a mediocre .671, his SB-adjusted OPS (SB differential + TBs / ABs) is a pretty solid .793. What do ya'll think?

Soto is made of glass. Whatever. Smith is just a placeholder. Thank god for Zack Collins.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 9, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) But Miller didn't stop them from winning the World Series. Yeah but it would've been much less stressful for the Cubs if the Indians didn't have Miller as a multi-inning weapon.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 9, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) We can't really say that yet without seeing careers play out though. Schwarber could have been good get for the Yankees too seeing as though could DH with the short porch in RF and see time at 1B and little in LF. It would've been a better deal no matter what for the Cubs because: 1. Schwarber is a DH that isn't even that good 2. The Indians wouldn't have had Miller in the World Series 3. Miller wasn't a rental 4. They'd still have Torres
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 9, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Didn't the Yankees want him straight up for Andrew Miller last year? If they did that deal, they'd still have Torres in the system. Though I do think Schwarber will turn it around at the plate a bit. Schwarber for Miller would have been a much better deal than the one they made.
-
The Cubs are nowhere near as good as they were last year and that warms my heart.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 8, 2017 -> 08:59 AM) Apparently the rumor is the Nationals are sending their top scout to the Sox-Twins series this weekend to evaluate Robertson. To me that's a big deal if true. It would be our luck if he pitched like crap in this series.

Apparently this injury doesn't seem to be overly serious and they hope he's back within 2 weeks or so. Perhaps it was more cautionary than anything else. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 3, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) Where would he play? Second base maybe? Third if Frazier is traded? I really don't know. What I do know is that he still has more potential than Saladino/Davidson/Yolmer/Leury/etc even if his prospect status has faded in recent years. -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 4, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) I assume if he is getting suspended, he'd appeal it, pitch his next game, and then drop the appeal and serve it. Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't look like the schedules will work out. I had been hoping he'd pitch in Milwaukee since the trade. I don't know when else I could see him in person anymore.
-
Sale is only getting fined as of now, right? I'm selfishly hoping he misses his scheduled start in Minnesota so that I might be able to see him in person in Milwaukee.
