  1. If those couple outings last year crippled Fulmer's development, than he was never going to be anything special anyway.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) Don't forget to add the ice, lime and tequila. An alternative to blending ones balls could be to cut them off, pickle them for the 2017 year and then feed those picked nads to the most deserving and undesirable relative you have next Christmas. Another idea would be Chef's favorite, chocolatey salty balls. Simpley wash, shave, chop, baste in chocolate and bake at tree-fiddy for 20 min. Let cool for 10 minutes and serve with secret sauce. For added flavor and texture you can skip washing said balls for that all natural fromunda cheese taste. Good grief, I really need to get a life. Too much time on my hands and am incredibly bored watching the wife play her video game. Maybe I should grab a beer or something and turn on some tunes. I have lots of new music I need to catch up on anyway. OK, back to Quintana, or whatever the f*** this thread is about. I love you so much. I really do. You're one of my favorite people here hands down.
  3. I might as well shove my balls in a blender if he isn't traded by SoxFest.
  4. Assuming he plays a full season... My prediction: .258/.324/.439 with 18 HR's, 8 SB's, 62 RBI's, and a -2.3 DWAR.
  5. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 08:07 AM) If Quintana isn't traded by SoxFest, I think all signs point to him being on the Sox roster in 2017. These rumors have dried up and there's nothing new happening. My guess is he will be traded at the deadline, along with Robertson and possibly Cabrera and Frazier for beer and possibly a plate of nachos. The Sox have to get a churro in this deal or it's not enough IMO.
  6. .302/.354/.514 18 HR's, 34 SB's, 5.3 WAR
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) Did you just compare Josh Bell to Dayan Viciedo? Holy f*** is that a terrible comparison. lol they're completely different players.
  8. We're over 6,300 posts between the 2. Insane.
  9. Can we just merge the 2 Quintana threads together to make one giant thread in order to pass the Cespedes thread in length? This thread is ending up the exact same way as the one that was closed a few days ago.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) I think something like: SS Ozzie Albies, LHP Sean Newcomb, LHP Luiz Gohara, and 3B Austin Riley for Quintana would be a really good deal for the Sox. Gotta get more hitting than that. Substitute Newcomb or Gohara with Maitan and I'd consider it, but even then, Atlanta isn't my first choice.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:51 PM) The way to "extend your window of contention" would be to have high-upside talent flowing through your system constantly. I do agree though that Maitan shouldn't be a centerpiece. Well said, dad.
  12. Which bullpen guy would the Mariners want that the Sox have? Surely it can't be Jones, and Robertson seems unlikely too. Jennings, Putnam, or Petricka perhaps?
  13. QUOTE (Username @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) Probably unrelated, but the Braves just traded Mallex Smith and a bullpen piece for two class A pitchers. One of which is a pretty well-regarded lefty. Would make sense if they're about to unload some young pitching for a front-line starter, like a bunch of people have been speculating recently (Justice, Bowman, etc.). Then again, could be absolutely nothing. Edit: Crasnick is now reporting another trade is coming, but from the Mariner's side. I was thinking this too. It would make sense.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Braves and Mariners make another traded. Braves receive: Luiz Gohara and Thomas Burrows (2 lefties). Mariners receive: Mallex Smith and Shae Simmons. Maybe the Sox want Gohara and Burrows and Atlanta needed to get them before Q is traded.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 11:59 PM) I know dreams die hard man but Micah...he sucks. He's almost 27 and just put up a resounding wRC+ of 82 in AAA. In 7 games at 2B for the Dodgers, he managed a wRC+ of 14 and the dodgers almost exclusively used him as a PR, they only gave him 4 innings at 2B. he hits like a s***ty SS and he fields like a s***ty 3B but can't actually play 3B, or any other position for that matter, other than 2B, where he has a decent arm and obviously range but zero natural baseball instinct or hands. His hands are brutal. Maybe you switch him to the OF but what does it even matter he can't hit for s*** anyways... He's too old to take a flyer on the Sox have better, younger options already on the 40 man. Like who? Please don't say Moncada as he shouldn't be a factor until June or July at the earliest.
  16. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) So they have a desirable prospect who will hopefully one day be a special player in the big show. We get it. The White Sox have a desirable all-star starting pitcher who is 27 years old, durable and post #s better than guys making $30 million a season. If you want something special, you need to give something special. It's that simple. and nobody knows if Meadows and Bell will even be special. It's ridiculous that Pittsburgh isn't even willing to trade one of them.
  17. I'm not thrilled with Atlanta besides their depth. Unless they were willing to move 6 or 7 pieces for Q, I wouldn't be interested.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) Greg Holland wants 2 years with an opt out. Seriously, Sox should be all over this guy. Let him rebuild value and deal him off in July. Definitely. Signing Holland would also hopefully force Washington to get desperate and trade for Robertson.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 09:24 PM) Bastardo for $6.5 million isn't a terribly big deal to the White Sox but it could be a terribly big deal to the Pirates. Hell, he gets off to a good start and he could be movable at the deadline. Exactly. It's not a huge sum of money for the Sox to take on, but shedding that salary could be huge for Pittsburgh and make them send another prospect our way because of the money they would save. Just trying to think outside the box a bit.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 07:05 PM) Well I'm assuming its because money isn't the only thing holding up the deal. I'm just saying. Eating bad contracts for more prospects/draft picks is a crafty move a rebuilding team like the Sox should try to do once in awhile. I know that's not how they usually operate financially but Atlanta has employed a similar strategy and it benefited them.
  21. I'd take him for sure. Assuming Frazier is traded, Lawrie can shift to 3B and the Sox can give Johnson a half season tryout or whatever until Moncada is ready. Give me Johnson over Sanchez or Leury anyday of the week.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) Sox shouldn't have to take back a bad contract to trade Quintana They shouldn't, but if money is the only thing keeping the Sox from getting a guy like Meadows or Bell, I absolutely do it.
  23. Why aren't the Sox willing to take a bad contract from Pittsburgh to facilitate a deal? Like Antonio Bastardo for example. Salary relief might ultimately be a deciding factor for the Pirates on what they'd be willing to give up.
