Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal
ChiSoxFanMike replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) If nats miss on melancon (who's close w/ SF via @Ken_Rosenthal ) perhaps more likely they step up for sale, cutch https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/805824415820816385 Okay. Make Turner available and maybe something can happen. No way they get both Sale and Cutch without him. -
Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal
ChiSoxFanMike replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Can someone tell me why Washington is so appealing if Turner isn't involved? Giolito has already had TJ and didn't do much of anything at the big league level, and Robles is a 19 year old in A ball. The Sox can't develop a player like him. -
Astros one of teams reportedly trying hardest to acquire Sale

QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) Astros and Nats trying hardest to acquire Sale That's funny if they're not willing to trade Bregman. No Bregman, no Sale. It's as simple as that. -
Which prospect would you want the Sox to acquire and why?

Turner, Benintendi, Bregman, Urias, and Swanson in that order for me. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) Olmec just tweeted there is no chance Houston trades Bregman. Who is that? Isn't that some ancient civilization? lol -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) If Beltran DHs, Gurriel likely plays first leaving Bregman 3B. Gurriel can also play 3B. I think this signing only increases the chances of Sale going to Houston.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Very unlikely Bregman in play now Why?

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 1m1 minute ago Manhattan, NY hear pirates want top OF prospect robles plus a top young SP (giolito, lopez, ross presumably would fit) in Cutch package And for the love of god, can we spell McCutchen's name correctly in this thread title? No idea why so many people add the extra "o".

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 05:47 PM) Cost certainty for upcoming trade Can you elaborate as to what you mean by this post?

Holy f*** this franchise is terrible.

Eaton had more BWAR than Sale last year FWIW. They play different positions so it's not exactly comparable, but I thought I'd point that out. I think Eaton would return the Sox just as much in a trade as Sale, if not more. He's an absolute stud. '
-
I'd take him as the backup catcher over Kevan Smith every day of the week.
-
While they're not even comparable as far as skill goes, it might be wise to trade Eaton at peak value like they did last year with Trayce Thompson. I think Eaton still has several productive years left at a bargain rate, but it'd surprise me if he had another 6+ WAR season like he did in 2016.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) I don't think Eaton relies on speed that much. He's really just a good contact hitter with a great arm. Sure, his speed affects him on defense, but the marginal speed decrease that will come as he ages won't affect it that much. Even if he was some big base-stealer or speed guy, plenty of those guys still play well with age. Take Juan Pierre, for example. Comparing Eaton to Pierre is like comparing apples to oranges, IMO. Eaton is way better than Pierre ever was. But I do think a decrease in speed will effect Eaton's range and possibly his routes on fly balls. It's less of an issue if he's in RF full time but it's still something to consider.
-
Although I do agree with the post that said his skill set might erode over time. A grinder type player like him relies on speed and athleticism, and those are skills that typically get worse at or over the age of 30. Who's to say he'll still be the same player when the Sox are good again.
-
Eaton would require a Sale-like return for me to consider moving him. He's immensely valuable and they don't have to move him now if they don't get the right offer.

QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) Doesn't sound like Giolito is in play here. Why would he? They'd include in him a Sale trade after this.

I'm excited for Tilson. Even if he amounts to nothing, at least he has more upside than Shuck and will be less of a nuisance to watch.

Surprised no major moves have been made yet. I thought things would've happened quickly once this thing was resolved. -

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
ChiSoxFanMike replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 06:40 AM) Dude, you simply need to STFU and leave this board for good. Whether you're a Cubs fan or not, I think everyone here can agree you're condescending as f*** and bring a combative attitude to discussions. You constantly talk down to posters like you are better than them and can never admit when you're wrong (see post above). Do us all a favor and go away. Thirded. -
Jonesy, Jennings, DRob, Putnam, Petricka. Sox have a variety of options. I'd love to snag Conforto from them.
-
Honestly, I think both should be tendered if they trade Sale. They'll have to field a team somehow, and there's a slim chance that either of them could take the next step forward and get flipped for prospects as opposed to being cut for nothing. It's not that much money anyway.
